I chose Coppergate again for my surgery having had an upper blepharoplasty a few years ago. They are so professional. I received lots of useful pre and postoperative information to help me with my preparations and aftercare.
Mr Nicholas Rhodes performed my surgery again with Dr James Sira as my anaesthetist. It’s only day 1 post operative so I can’t comment on results but they both did an amazing job.
Mr Rhodes is highly skilled and experienced. He is very approachable and I can’t recommend him highly enough. He advised me on what treatment plan he would recommend and listened to my concerns.
The nursing/theatre staff are outstanding. Nicki met me on the morning of my surgery and totally put me at ease. She was very friendly and exuded professionalism. I felt very confident under her care.
I would highly recommend Coppergate Clinic.

A wonderful experience from start to finish

Seven days post op…
Seven days post op - Lower Blepharoplasty Trans Conjunctival with Fat Transfer and CO2 Laser too. That’s a lot to get over in 7 days but I’m ecstatic with the results already. Chiara is incredible and the five stars are for her mainly and the nursing staff. Beautifully clean place, warm and appreciated the coffee. They really looked after me well on the day. The only thing I’d comment to improve on would have been that I’d have appreciated an after care phone call within a day or two.

Coppergate Clinic York a VIP service from start to finish.
The clinic is beautiful the front of house team members Charlotte and Samuel are very welcoming and made me feel at ease.
From my first consultation with Mr James Smith to present day the service has been amazing I cannot fault it in anyway.
I went in for my surgery which was a mastopexy and upper blepharoplasty to say I was nervous is an understatement but Katie the Theatre Manager put me at ease I had my Pre Op with Katie also which was nice to see the same person the whole way through the process she was calm, kind, organized and reassuring.
Katie looked after me on the day of my surgery I briefly considered asking if she could come home with me for Post Op care. 😊
My surgeon James Smith has the rare combination of being extremely skilled and extremely calming at the same time I felt very at ease with him the whole time.
The kind of surgeon who makes you think "YES I TRUST" this man with sharp objects on my face and breasts.😊
The results are amazing the scars on my upper eye are barely visible after 3 weeks I got exactly what I asked for and couldn't be happier I still have some healing to do on my breast where I had the uplift but it is definitely going in the right direction (UPWARDS).
James has changed not only how I look but how I feel about myself which in my opinion is priceless.
I would also like to mention Dr James Sira my anaesthetist who sent me off to sleep smoothly I barely had time to panic.
The Coppergate Clinic Team deserve a standing ovation from the moment I arrived I was treated like a VIP rather than a nervous human in a hospital gown.
All in all I would thoroughly recommend the expert hands of James Smith I have results I am genuinely thrilled with.
Brilliant teamwork from the clinic if you are considering surgery and want to feel safe, supported and quietly fabulous afterwards this is the dream team.
I would highly recommend James Smith if I ever decide to have any further surgery you can be sure I will be back at Coppergate in York.

Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty
I had an upper and lower blepharoplasty at Copper Gate Clinic with Mr James Smith and, unfortunately, my post-op experience has been disappointing.
Following the surgery, I developed a large cyst on my upper eyelid that was not present prior to the procedure and is something I have ever suffered with. I raised this concern on multiple occasions and the lump was drained twice by Mr Smith. Despite this, it has not resolved, and I have not been given a clear explanation of the cause or a definitive plan for ongoing treatment. I also did not receive my scheduled 6-week post-op review.
I received an email advising that no further treatment would be offered by the clinic, and that if I wished to have the cyst removed, I would need to seek treatment elsewhere or via the NHS. This has left me feeling extremely disappointed with the outcome. I am also not happy with the overall outcome of the procedure

Apologies for the delayed response but I needed to read your clinical notes and speak with your surgeon Mr Smith prior to addressing your review.Having done so,I feel your review is unfair and I will note the reasons below:
You say you are disappointed with your post operative experience and that no clear explanation or definitive plan to manage a cyst was given .(the cyst or chalzion as it is known ,is due to a blocked oil gland which appeared 4 weeks after surgery in an area beyond the surgical area) and that no 6 week review was received and that we declined to treat you further and advised to seek treatment elsewhere.
It is quite clear from your clinical notes that this is not the case.
4 weeks after surgery, when you developed a cyst on the eyelid of one of your eyes, Mr Smith and another member of staff opened the clinic out of hours to assess your eye and drain the cyst with no cost to you.The cyst settled for a couple of weeks then, as is common with chalzions returned .Chalzions usually resolve in a few weeks or months .This is the only time ever have we encountered such a problem as cyst formation post operatively following thousands of eye surgeries.
Mr Smith saw you again at the clinic and drained it again(this would have been around the time of your 6 week review) .He subsequently referred you to the ophthamology team as trying to coordinate your treatment locally would be difficult for you given your location.
Mr Smith spent hours of his time contacting multiple services local to you arranging an appropriate referral. Eventually a senior nurse at the acute ophthamology unit confirmed that you could attend that same day or the following day. The nurse also stated that this issue is most likely not related to surgery as it was below the operative site. There is literature available to confirm this stating most chalazions occur spontaneously.
Following this visit to the ophthamology team you contacted the clinic to advise that their treatment plan was to observe the cyst and review in 2-3 months.
You requested a second opinion.
Mr Smith therefore contacted a colleague in your area in order to find a recommendation for a ophthalmologist privately.
The clinic and Mr Smith have supported you extensively throughout this post operative period .
There have been an additional 6 consultations and communications with respect to this according to your electronic records.
While we are sorry that this rare complication has understandably affected how you feel about your overall experience I note from your records that the aesthetic outcome of your surgery was very good and the procedure achieved the desired results.
We regret that this situation has been distressing for you and are sorry that you feel disappointed .
Please be assured we have always acted in your best interests, remained available to you at all times and provided care that went over and beyond the usual post operative support.

All the staff were very kind and reassuring.I had blepharoplasty or eyelid surgey in August 2025
I had wanted surgery for over 30 years but wasnt brave enough. !! Why did I wait so long. ??
It was painless and very quick. Recovery was uneventful. Out of choice I had a tweak to the eyelids in November 2025. Returned for final check today 12 January

Fantastic clinic. Beautiful deco, really friendly staff, Alison was amazing as was Mr Bhatt. The whole experience was very relaxing and every step of my procedure was clearly explained. A friend recommended my surgeon
A friend recommended my surgeon, Christopher West to me and I saw first hand her amazing results of her face lift. I had my consultation in March 2025 and Mr. West recommended a deep plane face and neck lift and CO2 laser to areas of my face, neck & décolletage. I had plenty of time to prepare myself and underwent my surgery in January 2026. Mr. West is approachable and professional and I felt very confident in his hands. My anaesthetist, Martin instantly put me at my ease and the nurses who cared for me were so lovely. It’s early days as I heal and the swelling goes down but I’m in no pain and excited to see the changes each day brings.

It took me a year to pluck up the courage to have these procedures, so glad I did. The staff explained fully what to expect with the procedures, and most importantly the follow up healing process. Probably best to avoid mirrors for the first few days apart from cleansing routine 🤣. Very little pain, just a bit uncomfortable the day after procedure. The nurse who followed up after procedures was very thorough, kind and friendly. All necessary medications and cleansing items were provided and explained, plus detailed sheets to take home. From the reception staff, who allayed my anxieties, (procedures delayed due to unforeseen circumstances), with explanations and humour, to everyone involved, felt thoroughly cared for. 5 star treatment.
