It was a tale of 2 halves one of the deliveries was a kerb side one and the delivery driver was painfully rude . Just dropped them off no and very abrupt. I was only aware of kerbside deliver post putting the order in and then was left with the task of getting rid of the pallet. Perhaps I missed it before putting the order through but it’s just something to be wary off. Additionally these column radiators didn’t come with the brackets which was annoying as you didn’t know that till you start reading the instructions and for the cost of them (only a £2-3) you’d think they’d be included with the over all cost of the radiators !
Additionally these radiators were not completely true to the measurements they were a few cm off not a huge issue for me as it didn’t disrupt my space but for something to bear in mind if you’re looking for the exact measurements for your plans .
The second delivery the end company that had made the bespoke radiators were so much friendlier they rang me directly and confirmed that as this family owned they can use their own delivery man who can bring them inside and he was so kind and friendly and helped drop them off.
The radiators are on and look sturdy enough it given the delivery experience and lack of brackets I’m not entirely confident.

We’re very sorry to hear about the challenges with your first delivery. We do advise on our website, under the “Deliveries” section, that some orders are kerbside only; however, we understand this can sometimes be missed and appreciate your comments regarding both the communication and the driver’s manner. This is certainly not the level of service we expect.

In relation to the brackets, these are included with our column radiators. We’re sorry for any confusion here and understand how frustrating this must have been when preparing for installation. We will review how this is communicated to ensure it is clearer for future customers.

We also advise that a small manufacturing tolerance applies to radiator measurements. While this is standard, we recognise how important precise sizing can be when planning a space, so we appreciate you highlighting this.

On a more positive note, we’re pleased to hear your second delivery experience was much better and that the radiators are now installed and looking good.

We’re sorry that parts of your experience did not meet expectations, but your feedback is incredibly valuable and helps us continue to improve both our service and communication.

Cheap low quality

I bought 2 white column radiators and I'm extremely disappointed with the quality finish of the paint work, also on one of the radiators the threaded nut 2 are right hand threaded the other 2 left hand threaded, as if the threaded nut was in backwards, the fixings are cheap, the wall ties also are cheap, I would like to return these but they don't accept return of radiators, the truth is they are cheap poor quality radiators, lacking quality control

We do accept return of radiators in-line with our 90 day return policy and we always work with our customers if a challenge is detected. I found this company on an instagram…

I found this company on an instagram account. I have now purchased 5 radiators from them as well as numerous radiator valves. They don't just do column radiators and their Trade essential range is fantastic , solving a damp issue in the basement. Customer service has been excellent every time I have used them over the past 18 months.

I don’t understand some of the negative…

I don’t understand some of the negative reviews as I found the company to be excellent.

I ordered a steel column radiator. Before buying I called to ask some fitting questions and received helpful info and advice.

The radiator was delivered on time without any problems. I phoned to bring the delivery date forwards and they were able to do that. The radiator looks superb and I’m very happy with it.

So in my experience, I certainly would recommend this company, they were excellent.

Hi Will,

We're very sorry to see this feedback.

Your goods were ordered on the 31st October 2023 and delivered on the 3rd of November 2023. You then reached out to us on the 5th of February 2024 to report the damage, which is 94 days after delivery.

You advised us that you had only inspected the packaging which did not show signs of damage, but you have not actually inspected the radiator itself.

We were advised you have kept the goods packaged up since delivery, until the 5th of February when you had a plumber on site for fitting.

You then followed up with an email where you have stated you were reporting the damage within the 90 days of the product arriving with you. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions below:

"8.1 You shall be deemed to have accepted the Goods 24 hours after delivery.
8.2 You should carry out a thorough inspection of the Goods within 24 hours of delivery and should inform us immediately of any defects or missing parts which a reasonable examination would have revealed. Written notification to us should be received within 3 working days of delivery of the Goods.
8.3 Where you have accepted, or it has been deemed you have accepted the Goods, you will not be entitled to reject goods which are not in accordance with the contract."

Despite your delay in reporting the damage to us, we have still reached out to our manufacturers to see if there is anything they would be able to do as a gesture of goodwill. We explained to them that you have stated the packaging looked intact so this dent went unnoticed.

Unfortunately they advised they would not be able to offer a replacement, refund or repair due to the delay in reporting the damage. We explained to you that our manufacturers hold the same policy as us - 3 days to report damage/missing parts or items - as the time window to investigate whether an issue could have occurred in transit or before despatch is very short. After a certain time, damage on site becomes a very real possibility.

You have not been able to conclusively prove that the radiator was delivered damaged, and that there was no damage to the external packaging. We have only received two images, both only showing the damaged fragment of the radiator, taken and sent to us over three months after delivery, and we have not received any photos of the packaging. At this time, it is not possible to prove the condition of the item when it was first received.

As we are unable to offer any further assistance with the damaged radiator ordered on the 3rd of November, we offered to assist in purchasing a new radiator with a possible discount.

We have also explained the difference between the time period for inspection versus our returns policy. We happily accept returns up to 90 days from the date of purchase (which you are also outside of), for any goods unused, undamaged and still in their original packaging. This does not in any way relate to the time window given to report damage or missing parts.

We have offered and supplied touch-up paint as a gesture of good will in order to partially alleviate the damage.

We will still be happy to assist in purchasing a new radiator should you wish to replace the one you've got now. Please feel free to reach out to us on 02393 162 169 to discuss.

On another well known review site Column Radiators 4u get an average 4.85 Stars from 334 reviews. It seems that on the whole people really do come on to Trust Pilot to have a moan.
Myself I just wanted the best budget radiator, delivered quickly. However, what I also got was an easy to use website, outstanding communication with real people, a phone call to arrange delivery, which was on time and their own driver was brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble and the radiator was delivered to the room.

Good product, overall very poor customer service

The products are as advertised and arrive in the times set out. Some products are affordable, but in their high end ranges they represent a premium product.

I had a change of requirement for my space and wished to return one of two items so got back in touch. I was told that this wouldn't be an issue and quoted on shipping charges, which I accepted in the email.

It transpired that the person had made an error in quoting the charges they had, resulting in an increase in the shipping which was later asked of me. I felt that I should be given the price quoted for the return, which I accepted in good faith.

After several times of asking, the company refused to allow me to return the item at the price they'd originally quoted, despite me being very reasonable in my request. I even asked them to meet me in the middle and compromise, asking them essentially to take some responsibility for the error made by them.

They refused. And I'm afraid it speaks volumes about the company. They would quibble over less than £100 in the context of a sale of 1.5K, without any regard for the rights or experience of the customer.

I explained how their treatment of me made me feel as a customer, offering the opportunity to make amends, but again was refused. Not premium customer service to match premium prices.

I cannot recommend the company on account of this and have found an alternative supplier for my remaining radiators (costing radiators 4u at least £3000 of what would otherwise have been my business).

(I would welcome a reply from the company, addressing these specific points, although I suspect - as every time previously - they will omit to mention the most important thing, which is the error was on their part)

We are pleased that you are happy with the products from us and are sorry to read of the challenge faced with your return.

We have completed a thorough investigation into your order and all communication had surrounding this and you originally enquired regarding the return of two radiators from your order in which the collection charge was given and agreed with yourself.

As mentioned you then had a change in requirements and wished to return only one radiator from your order therefore the charge was reviewed and the amended cost provided.

I understand there was some confusion surrounding the discounted collection charge.

If you were to be re-ordering new radiators with the same manufacturers, this charge is discounted. The reason being that the manufacturers would be attending the delivery address to deliver the new order placed and would therefore reduce the collection charge and undertake a delivery/collection at the same time.

It then transpired that you wanted to re-order radiators with a different manufacturer, meaning there would no longer be a reduced collection charge. This was explained in full to help in understanding where the differences between the collection charges given had arisen.

In despite of the above, we of course value your custom and have since reached out to yourself in attempt to improve the experience you feel you have had with us.

This is an update on my original review (below).

After leaving my review on Friday, the M.D responded and said a manager will call me on Monday.

I can confirm I received a call first thing Monday morning from Paula (she manages the customer service team) and she was lovely. She completely understood my concerns and she handled it perfectly.

She also went on to explain that they take customer service feedback very seriously and they are aware of the issues on their team at the moment.

Many people on the CS team are new, and they are being trained on how to handle customer frustrations, show empathy, and help with problem solving rather than giving an unhelpful, uncaring response!

She assured me that CS training is a priority and hopefully their call quality will improve very soon.

She came across as genuine and I imagine with the right training, her team will be able to deliver a great service!

I have updated to 4 stars...

- the product quality is great (I only bought wall stays, I'm not sure what the other products are like)
- price was good
- customer service not good (hence not 5 stars) but I expect this will improve a lot over the next few months

ORIGINAL REVIEW
This is a message for the 'management team' at Column Radiators 4 U, that is if you actually exist.

Whenever I ask to speak to a manager I am told they are 'in a meeting'. You seem to have a lot of meetings - perhaps you should spend less time in 'meetings' and more time training your team and looking after your customers.

PAULA or ALICE - apparently you are the managers. I will continue to call until I have spoken to someone who leads this awful organisation.

We ordered radiators in good faith

We ordered radiators in good faith, spent over 3 thousand pounds and that’s where the problems started. From being told initially 2-3 days the radiators would be delivered we are now 10 days later and still nothing. We had purchased the radiators for customer and we have been attempting to keep the customer happy with updates. We have been pat about from pillar to post told numerous days the radiators would be deliver and each time it hasn’t been the truth. Our customer is now threatening to cancel the job and by the reviews on refunds I’m now very worried about even getting our money back. I would never put this company forward to my worst enemy or deal with them again it’s been a complete disaster from the Start and wish never to have to speak with them again.

I am very sorry to hear of your experience with us. I have investigated your order to gain an understanding on where we have let you down.

You placed the order on 19th October and we contacted you and informed you on the 19th October, the same day, that the product was out of stock until the first week of November. You confirmed you wished to wait for the product.

On the 26th October a delivery date of the complete order was agreed and scheduled for Friday 29th October with yourself, as we received the stock back earlier than expected.

On the morning of 29th October you called to chase an arrival time of your radiator and you were informed it was booked and confirmed with couriers as 'out for delivery today' and that it is an all day delivery slot so delivery can be between 9:00AM – 6:00PM.

At 4:30PM on 29th October you had still not received delivery of your order and contacted us to chase this up. We then contacted the manufacturer whilst you were on hold and they confirmed to us that they were unable to advise on the drivers time of arrival however that this was definitely out for delivery and confirmed the courier firm this was out for delivery with which we fed back to yourself.

You then called Monday morning, 1st November, to advise that delivery did not arrive with you on Friday 29th October as scheduled.

We then chased manufacturer immediately to find out why this delivery did not arrive with you as scheduled and confirmed, and to query when this was in fact going to be being delivered to you. We were informed that unfortunately the order was late leaving the hub and that the delivery was rescheduled for a delivery today (Monday 1st November). We came back to advise you of this as soon as it was clarified. We then received confirmation this was delivered and accepted at 13:11 on Monday 1st November with a Proof of Delivery provided.

We completely understand your frustration surrounding the delay in the delivery and that this was poor service and we're extremely apologetic for the inconvenience caused to yourself due to couriers failing to deliver and the information we were being fed by our third party couriers not being met.

I can assure you at no point were you lied to during your communication with us and we did pass on all information given to us from the manufacturers/couriers on the whereabouts of your delivery to you as they were given to us.

The third party couriers really let us down here and in turn resulted in you having a bad experience with us and for that we again are extremely sorry.

Awful experience

Awful experience. Accusing me of fraud on the phone because my delivery address didn't match my billing address BECAUSE I AM BUILDING THE HOUSE and not currently living in it. A big order I've just cancelled due to Braun being awful on the phone.

In response to their response - my bank advised against this unusual practice of calling with a transaction code. I followed my banks instructions and declined this perplexing policy by column radiators. Bought what I wanted elsewhere in the exact colours and specs. No problems whatsoever.

A full and complete investigation into all communication between us and yourself has been made and I can confirm that it was explained to you by my colleague that these security checks are put in place to protect both us and the customer from any fraudulent activity and you were not accused of fraud at any point during any communication with ourselves.

There were alternative options offered to you during the call in order to help in getting the security check passed and the order processed and apologies were made for any inconvenience this may have caused and again explained it is there to safeguard you and us.

You then requested to cancel the order and I can confirm this was actioned immediately by the member of staff handling your call.

We feel this call was handled with the correct service level agreement and again, we are very sorry that you feel this has not been a very pleasant experience.

Was a bit apprehensive about ordering…

Was a bit apprehensive about ordering having seen the reviews but they had two radiators I needed in stock and at a decent price. Ordered over the Christmas period but they were clear they were closed until 4th January. Order was dispatched the afternoon of the 4th and received the next day packaged well and in excellent condition.

Rubbish customer service, not helpful

order 5 radiators, came within 7 days not 2-3 as promised. left in packaging until plumber came. Opened and left polystyrene on the big 4 column one ( I couldn't even move it. opened up on a sunday, massive scratch under polystyrene , emailed straight away, got a response the next day replied within 20 minutes , didn't get any other response for 30 hours, installed on wall , then they finally emailed and said I shouldn't have done that.

Sent touch up paint but for a £450 radiator it should be perfect, this 4 column one paintwork was awful where its been sprayed badly Awful customer service, and stupid platitudes (oh I'll make sure I don't do that again.

Other 4 radiators were fine and no damage .

Thank you for your review and your feedback, we are very sorry that you’ve been dissatisfied with the product and service you have received.

This has been investigated and passed to our continuous improvement department.

In regards to your comments on the lead time - I can see your delivery did take longer than stated, which I would like to apologise for but this is due to third carriers being at there maximum capacity due to an increase in online orders across all sectors.

In relation to the damage on your radiator I can see that we were in contact with you on the Tuesday 21st Wednesday 22nd July Thursday 23rd July and Friday 24th July there was a gap when we did not reply to you, but this was over a weekend and we are not open on a Saturday or Sunday. I can see we were back in contact with you on 27th July which was the Monday.

As for us not advising you to not install the radiator, we do advise all our customers that they need to thoroughly visually inspect all goods within 24 hours, this information is printed on every sales receipt and within our terms and conditions, so if any challenges were to be apparent we could organise replacements to get this resolved.

We also fully understand this is not always possible and we are flexible with this time frame, but once the radiator has been installed this is acceptance of goods. This is because it is more difficult for us to be able to determine when the damage occurred.

I can see we sent touch up paint free of charge as a gesture of goodwill to assist with your challenge.

Good products, knowledgeable Sales Team, horrible Customer Service. I purchased a column radiator, it was a special order and I ordered the wrong height (I'd just had a baby and I made a mistake which I accept). I don't believe the non-return policy was made explicit when I ordered it sadly. I tried to find a solution and just wanted to see if I could get a replacement but maybe at a slightly cheaper rate. I believe a more sympathetic, amicable approach could have been offered. Instead I was made to feel like a criminal and liar by Laura in Customer Service whose tone and manner made me feel very upset. *I do know that they used to accept returns of special order radiators and I do know that someone did tell me that the customer would usually just have to pay the carriage of £30 (How would I know this otherwise?). I do not usually write reviews as I always feel things can be settled by talking it through directly with the company to find a solution that suits both parties. But this experience and the harsh tone that I received when my own approach was amicable and polite was very, very unsettling.

As mentioned when we spoke on the telephone and discussed this challenge in more detail, we fully investigated the challenge you raised and listened to all calls, in which we did advise you on three occasions the product was bespoke and at no point discussed returning the goods.

Damaged radiator

Damaged radiator, still boxed, refused to come to any resolve as we hadn’t unboxed within 24 hours.
Totally unacceptable.
We ordered the radiator for an extension, obviously did not want to unbox until ready for installation to insure no damage then 3 weeks after delivery, the extension ready, unbox it and was damaged. Not willing to help at all.

Reference: Your damaged radiator

We fully understand that customers do not always install their radiators as soon as they arrive.
But we do ask that all goods are given a visual inspection within 24 hours to ensure all parts are included and there is no damage to goods.

We try to be as transparent as possible with our terms and conditions to help our customers, this information is not only on our website, but also on the sales receipt under point one.
The sales receipt is emailed to our customers as well as a copy being sent in the post.

We do our best to try and be flexible and work with our customers, but we do have a time frame that we have to adhere to when any damage claims are made.

Worse experience ever

Ordering from this company was the worst experience ever. Waited 12 weeks for our radiators whist the company was radio silent and gave us no updates on our order. After many complaints and chasing and bad customer service experience our product finally arrived. I have never experienced such rude staff and them claiming that 7 weeks unexplained delay in our order is normal and acceptable. They also lied on the response to my Google review saying that they updated us weekly - it is not true. There are much nicer companies out there to order from!

After reading your review I conducted an internal investigation covering the points you have raised above.

Please see below, my broken down response to your points.

Ordering from this company was the worst experience ever:

• I’m sorry you feel this way, but I do believe this to be unfair & unjust.

Waited 12 weeks for our radiators whist the company was “radio silent” and gave us no updates on our order:

• 16/11/18 – You placed your order. This is when my colleague Rhea, contacted you to explain that your product was currently on an extended lead time & that you would not receive delivery of your order this side of Christmas.

• 28/12/18 – You emailed us for an update – Unfortunately our company was closed down for Christmas, so the earliest we could respond to you was when we returned after the Christmas shutdown, on Thursday 03/01/19 – My colleague Alice emailed you on 03/01/19 with “at this stage” an approximate due date of 31/01/19 for goods to be delivered to our manufacturers UK depot.

• 03/01/19 – You spoke to my colleague Laura who you advised that you were disappointed with the lead time. It was explained to you, that due to the time of our Christmas shut down & unfortunately, one of the production machines breaking down, we had a small delay in delivery into the UK – Laura then advised you she would contact you again on 10/01/19

• 10/01/19 – My colleague Laura called you “As stated” & left a voicemail to explain that we were still working towards the goods being in the UK from 31/01/19 – She also stated in the voicemail that she would call again on 24/01/19

• 24/01/19 – My colleague Jazz called to with a further update. Unfortunately, we could not connect with you, so we emailed you with an update.

• 30/01/19 – You emailed us at 5.14 (PM) for an update, to see if you radiator would be delivered to you on 31/01/19 – Unfortunately, our office is closed from 5.00 (PM) so we could not respond to you on that date.

• 31/01/19 – We were advised by our manufacturer, that your goods were now in the UK & could be delivered to you on 04/02/19 – My colleague Jazz emailed you with this update

• 04/02/19 – My colleague Jazz took a voicemail from yourself at 08.56 (AM) asking for an update, which we didn’t respond to immediately “Sorry for the inconvenience caused here” - You then called us at 09.57 (AM) asking for an update. My colleague Laura took your call & stated that she needed to obtain an update from the manufacturer. It was at this point that you demanded compensation from us for the inconvenience and plumbers costs. My colleague Laura told you, we do not offer compensation & that we were truly sorry you felt this way. Our web site T&C do strongly advise our customers not to book any plumbers before goods are on site. It was at this stage you told my colleague Laura, that unless you received some form of compensation, you would have no option but to post as many bad reviews as you could “Which you have done”. I’m sorry to say this, but I will not be blackmailed by anyone.

After many complaints and chasing and bad customer service experience our product finally arrived:

• I feel your points about complaints & chasing are covered above. • Your point about bad customer service is just not valid. At no stage did you receive bad customer service, you just didn’t get the ordering experience that both you & I would have expected to receive.

• I am glad that your radiator is now with you & I hope you are happy with it’s look & performance.

I have never experienced such rude staff:

• We pride ourselves at Column Radiators 4u on our customer service & I find your point to be untrue. Not Laura or any of my staff were rude to you at any point.

Claiming that 7 weeks unexplained delay in our order is normal and acceptable:

• This is not true. At no stage was this comment made by any members of my staff

They also lied on the response to my Google review saying that they updated us weekly:

• You can see by my points above, that regular updates were given to you, but you are correct that is was not weekly.

There are much nicer companies out there to order from!

• I’m sorry you feel this way. If you read all the other reviews previously loaded, you will note that the majority of our customers believe that we are first class at what we do.

Excellent service.

Very impressed. Received a call to say when my radiator would be delivered and received another call from the delivery guy who was very pleasant and bent over backwards to deliver when and whereI wanted.

Unfortunately I bought an arroll…

Unfortunately I bought an arroll Victorian low level radiator through radiators4u but on close inspection it is of poor quality.
Around the arches it hasn’t been finished before priming,
Paint drip marks,
What looks like grinding marks around the arches and general splattering which could have been rubbed down before painting.
Radiators4u did look into it but was told that arroll said this was normal.
I have seen many other radiators from other companies which are to a higher standard so I know this not to be true.
Unfortunately the outcome is I have a radiator that I would have to pay someone to dismantle,
Finish, paint again and put together again.
This reflects on radiators4u and I am not happy.
