Great local experiences and knowledgeable guides. Hikes and walks were less strenuous and slower pace than I was expecting.
A couple of the provided dinners (Lisbon restaurant and Evora hotel) were just average, but most meals were very good. The hotel rooms were very nice in all locations.

Base camp in Panzano was Villa Le Barone, a former Della Robbia family villa turned hotel that struck the perfect balance between rustic charm and comfort, surrounded by gardens and vineyards that made every return "home" a pleasure. Our second stay at the Grand Hotel Bristol in Rapallo was equally memorable, with its grand old-world elegance and sweeping views over the harbor.

Among the many highlights, wandering the intact Renaissance walls and car-free streets of Lucca stood out as a masterclass in how a small city can feel both grand and intimate. Just as memorable was our visit to sculptor Martin Foot's studio, an unexpected and inspiring detour where we saw his work up close and heard him speak about his craft and life in Tuscany.

The trip's crowning achievement, though, was hiking the Cinque Terre. The cliffside trails connecting those five villages, with the Ligurian Sea glittering below, were simply breathtaking. Classic Journeys once again proved why they're worth the investment.

The hotels were upscale, daily breakfast amazing, but it was our guide, Sol, who made the trip. Her knowledge and passion for her country made us all fall in love with Basque Country! She’s a true gem!!

We had a great experience because of our guides, Diane and Norma. They know their history, culture and geography like the back of their hands. We felt so immersed in British culture and history by the end of our tour. We simply loved our trip.

Highly personalized! Edgar was so knowledgeable and caring and Marco was an excellent driver in the mountains! I especially loved the hikes, but also the unique cultural interactions. This is more than just a trip to Machu Picchu. Well worth it!

This was a supremely happy combination of guides and a driver who did way more than get us from here to there - an exceptionally nice bunch of travelers - a great itinerary - and even some very lovely Scottish weather. I could not have had a better time.

The marketing brochure for the Dolomites Cultural Walking Tour described walks as “easy to moderate”, over “country lanes or well maintained trails” with daily distance options according to a table provided. In fact, the walks were moderate to extremely challenging, trail surfaces were very rough and in some places ridiculously steep, and daily distance options were not offered. I showed the lead guide the table of daily distance options sent to me by Classic Journeys and she said “What is this?” The tour had only two guides for 17 clients.

Amenities, adventures, food all well planned out and day to day timetable very helpful. Also a great travel group!

Erik and our 6 person group(plus 9 more) enjoyed a fantastic trip to Iceland. We snorkeled, rode horses, hiked on a glacier, rode Zodiacs in Glacier Bay, saw waterfalls, ate delicious meals and on and on. Such a great trip!

The guides were great and the planning of the days was well done. The food was delicious. The size of the group was just right. It didn’t hurt that the weather was fabulous!
