Despite the MD of this DEBT COLLECTION…

Despite the MD of this DEBT COLLECTION company aka as BW Legal Services Ltd paying himself £200k+ p.a is TOO important for him to accept COMPLAINTS on this shabby organisation via his direct email. This company earns commission on recovering debt so chase individuals with demand letters, so they are not unduly concerned to investigate the legality of the sum amount purportley under dispute. Sadly British Gas use the services of this organisation , so I have switched utility provider despite my claim being validated.

Formal complaint filed

I had to file a formal complaint as they keep sending letters to my residential address for an unknown person.
Despite ringing them in May and one of their representatives called Tasha confirming to cease all correspondence they continued to send more letters.
I’m now awaiting their response but I’m not expecting much from them after reading all the reviews here and on other platforms online!
I have sent my formal complaint email to 4 different email addresses I found on various forums including both directors publicly known emails as they refused to give out an email over the phone and there’s none on their website!!

UPDATE
Impossible to get anything resolved, no email or phone number for complaints. All they do is refer you to their portal! I’m not going to sign into their portal as I’m not the debtor!!
I have now filed a complaint with ICO so this company’s practices will be looked at!!

I was moving house British gas changed…

I was moving house British gas changed the lock on my meter cupboard the day before I moved. They denied it. I am 72 and wouldn't know how to do such a thing myself. I was living in Greece for over 8months of the year and they said I owed £800 even though i paid them £65 a month DD. Nobody else in the house it was empty. When I first moved into this house before I switched to BG when I moved in it was with Scottish power who sent me a bill for £14,000 and I hadnt even lived there for 1 month. The next month I got one for £32,000 I told them the date I moved in and it wasn't possible. Eventually my account was switched over to BG at my request. I kept all the bills from Scottish Power as they threatened me with a company that wanted to take my possessions. I said go ahead send somebody and I will sue you. It then stopped after 1 year.
But I continued to pay BG on standing order but then got a final bill for over £800 there was nobody living in the house it was empty but they said I owed it and they said the smart meter told them I owed this money even though the smart meter never worked. I dont agree thati owed this money. So eventually I agreed to set up what was owed with a discount from BW legal which wasn't a good service in my opinion. Very unfair I had to pay this outstanding amount. I will go to Martin Lewis one day with all this and see what he has to say.

The Worst Company to exist - they don’t bother listening

BW Legal services is the worst company to deal with. On several occasions - I have informed them I have no outstanding debts with their client British Gas. When I have informed them to speak to their client to confirm I have never had any outstanding debts they keep bothering me with letters, emails and text messages. They’re complacent and expect me as the third party to do the chasing around even though it has been several months I have closed the account with British Gas.

I spoke to Amelia she was polite and patient however very unhelpful and useless. The communication from BW legal is very poor! This company should be reported to trading standard.

Sky TV told me I owed them £13 after 3…

Sky TV told me I owed them £13 after 3 years of no contact or contract. I found out the money owed was at the bottom of a marketing email which I had the option to opt out of so I did and never knew that sky were after me for 3 years. Unfortunately Sky passed my details to BW Legal who have since sent me letter after letter to demand the £13. I have tried to deal with BW Legal through their data protection email address. Today another letter telling me I failed to respond and also offering a 25% reduction of the £13 if I pay now. This is highly unprofessional and laughable considering they are apparent solicitors. They have offered no proof that Sky is their client or any assignment deed of the £13. I owe nothing, as far as I am concerned Sky made an error 4 years ago and are that greedy they intend to pursue to the end of my days BW Legal are equally greedy fools and wasting theirs and my time. Shame for them, what a way to earn a living acting as third party henchmen.

Hello Everyone……..

Hello Everyone……..

Many Debt Collecting companies open up fake solicitor companies to try and scare you

Debt collectors have zero power, NONE, They must obtain a court judgement to receive any funds and to do that costs money. They also need to prove the debt is legally enforceable

Within U.K. law there is something called Statute Barred, When a debt is Statute Barred it no longer exists.

For a debt to be Statute Barred you must not admit it’s yours or pay any money to the account for a period of 6 years

But debt collectors buy old statute barred debts for pennies, for example a Old debt that was worth £1500 they will buy for £50, usually they buy bundles of these debts then they try to harass and panic people into paying them in full !

But as more people are waking up to their scams they now use Fake Solicitor companies that are owned by them to pretend your going to court

Any company that contacts you always head over to the companies house website and check the people registered and the registered address

I guarantee you they will match up in some way

Real solicitors will not entertain taking a statute barred debt to court because even if they lie and manipulate paperwork you just tell the court the debt is not yours, never was and you haven’t made any payments too it in the last 6 years. It’s a waste of time as legally the debt is dead

To fully Cover yourself if one of these companies contact you immediately send them an email DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL DATA EVER NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY

Simply use their own reference number in the email header and copy / paste this…….

Without Prejudice

Your reference number is in the email header. I will not be providing any personal data as I am under no obligation to do so. This email address is my only point of contact

I formally request on ( enter date and time ) three pieces of Documentation

This is a lawful requirement and your burden of proof to enforce any debt

1) A Signed True Original Copy of the Agreement showing a clear WET signature - NOT a digital tick box or digitally created signature

2) The Deeds of Assignment showing all signatories and witnesses NOT a note of Assignment

3) An up to date statement showing all payments made to the account within the last 6 years - Clearly showing the Name of the Payee and Date

You have 30 Days to provide these documents, failure to do so will render the case closed

Keep that email safe and if a real court contacts you or if you see a CCJ appear next to your name show the court this email and tell them that you did not receive any of these documents

Don’t let companies like this upset you and worry you they have zero power without a court writ

They cannot take any of your property, they cannot gain access to your property, if they arrive at your property don’t answer the door, ask them for paperwork, if they hand you paperwork through the letterbox that is photocopied and does not have a WET SIGNATURE signed by a judge that day it is worthless and fraudulent call the police and report them

Like others I would give zero stars, Nuisance Auto calls with No Idea what it's about !

Like others I would give zero stars
This company has been sending me recorded calls for the past 3-4 years, I still have no idea what they are about! But they worry the hell out of me! The calls are not to me by name and refer to a letter they sent me...needless to say I have never received one letter from this company or any other company about fines, debts or unpaid anything in all these years.
I tried to contact them at first, no email address worked, I eventually got someone to answer a phone call, she was short to the point of rude as she told me "use the portal" when I replied I could not, she jumped in before I could explain and told me "the details were in the letter from us!"" I haven't had a letter" I answered "what is it about?" she didn't tell me she just said "I will send you details!" and ended the call!
No details ever arrived and I had no more calls for a few months, when they started again out of the blue!
The calls are very quick and when you are not expecting them, but I caught live chat in one and looked on the site but certainly couldn't find it. The calls came in groups of two or three with months between them, but never any letters! and I am still not knowing what it is about which left me in anguish - I searched online and found many references to scams using BWLegal, and I convinced myself that's what it was
The latest on June 2026 gain out of the blue, made me upset, as I have had a few problems, and I wrote a complaint through the website "RESOLVER" which sent me confirmation it had been delivered, but just a few minutes later I got a reply form BWLegal saying they rejected my email and to use the customer portal (I am NOT a customer and would never want to be)
I got scammed by another "Law" firm for £220 (quarter of my pension) who claimed they had sent me letters but hadn't, and said they referred my case to a debt collection agency with a different name and number, but when I phoned it I got the same person from the law firm as I recognised his voice.
The calls tell you to use the payment portal (which I wouldn't do without knowing why? and having the chance to discuss any matter) but the portal needs a reference which I have never been given!
How could many people understand this automated system?

I had a very poor experience with BW…

I had a very poor experience with BW Legal. I complained about the increased payment they asked me to make in relation to a Companies House late filing matter. A member of staff gave me incorrect information, which led to the higher charge, and I felt this was unfair. Despite sending two complaint emails and making several phone calls, BW Legal appeared to cover up the staff error rather than refund the additional amount I had paid.

i would like to give zero stars

i would like to give zero stars. they have been repeatedly contacting me about an outstanding debt with british gas at a time that i didn’t have a british gas account. british gas have confirmed to me that this bill was a mistake but this ghastly company continues to send me threatening emails about a debt that i don’t owe and doesn’t exist. they don’t talk with british gas directly as if they did they quickly realise the fault is with them. they don’t communicate with their own clients but continue sending me harassing emails over a debt that doesn’t exist. disgusting company, shouldn’t be alllwed to continue operating.

If we could give zero stars to MAIA we would - RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL

If I could give zero stars, I would. Our company received a letter from BW Legal, so we called to clarify the issue. What we got instead was one of the most unprofessional interactions I’ve ever experienced with any organisation claiming to operate in the legal sector.

The person who answered — calling herself “Maia” — was openly unpleasant from the very first sentence. Her tone was rude, dismissive, and frankly hostile. She refused to provide any information whatsoever, despite the fact that BW Legal had contacted us first. She also refused to give her surname, yet bizarrely claimed she was “the only one in the office,” which tells you everything you need to know about the level of professionalism here.

Even worse, she started giving what can only be described as legal advice, while in the same breath admitting she is not qualified and works in a support role. Completely reckless behaviour. Anyone with even a basic understanding of regulatory standards knows how unacceptable that is.

And then — in true BW Legal fashion — she abruptly hung up the phone. No explanation. No courtesy. Just pure rudeness. Fortunately for us, the call was recorded.

If you ever come across this individual, report her to the SRA immediately. Someone who behaves like this has no business working anywhere near a regulated environment. The complete lack of integrity, professionalism, and basic human decency is astonishing.

BW Legal should be embarrassed that this is the standard of staff - called MAIA representing their name.

Aggressive, predatory, and harassing people in Protected Trust Deeds

I was subjected to an incredibly aggressive, hostile phone call from a BW Legal agent demanding immediate direct payment for an alleged private parking debt from 2022.
Let it be known clearly: I am in a legally binding Scottish Protected Trust Deed from 2022. Under Section 171 of the Bankruptcy (Scotland) Act 2016, creditors are strictly and legally barred from taking any direct collection or enforcement action against a debtor for debts bound by the insolvency.
During the phone call, your agent claimed she searched the insolvency records and couldn't find me, using this incompetent lie as an excuse to continue her aggressive harassment. If your agents cannot properly navigate the Register of Insolvencies (ROI) in Scotland, that is a severe compliance and training failure on your part, not a loophole to bully people. My Protected Trust Deed is fully active and legal.
Your agent also tried to use high-pressure tactics, claiming that because BW Legal "bought or took on" the debt in April 2026, the rules don't apply. This is completely false. Buying a debt does not reset its origin date. You bought a pre-existing 2022 debt that is legally frozen and bound by my Trust Deed
The second I took to their live chat and forced them to face the exact Scottish legislation they were breaching, they immediately backed down, admitted defeat, and stated the matter was closed and returned to their client.
Absolute amateurs. You engage in predatory, hostile behavior until a consumer calls out your legal breaches, at which point you run scared and dump the account. Disgraceful company. Do not contact me again.
