Should be renamed We buy fake debts for a small commission. Typical lawless corrupt company hiding behind the loopholes of Information. The issue is now that people are becoming more aware of these parasitic practices, and not having it. Ive never ever gave money to these parasites, I owe 50k+ they can keep wasting their time.
Unsavoury experience
Received Toll fines whilst hiring an Enterprise car. I had paid the tolls and Tyne Tunnels recinded the fines and then Enterprise recinded their "costs" Too. So I owed nothing to either party. Out of the blue got emails from this firm. Complained to Enterprise who said it was a mistake by B W legal and they would tell them accordingly. I dont know really who was at fault but the communication was not friendly and even after being told I owed nothing they offered no apology. Their sites "account" Created still shows a debt deapite case "closed". I work in Financial Services and am appalled at this situation. I am not suprised its basically got 98% 1*'s. Avoid and dont be bullied in to paying if you dont owe anything and can prove it.
Bully disabled people
My mental health couldn't take the thought of a court date, so agreed to pay these scammers 50% to make it go away, even though everyone said I would win in court. Now pressuring me every week when I phone to pay an instalment. Really don't care that my mental, and physical health is wrecked. How can anyone lower themself enough that they bully disabled people for a job, and keep turning up for work.
They take sick joy from bullying a 56…
They take sick joy from bullying a 56 year old carer (£87 per week carers allowance )for disabled wife their c.s refusing to cooperate and speak to me in a condescending manner as they feel superior refuse to answer my previous letters making an offer I can not really afford but I offered in good this money will have to come out of our weekly food money (£122) for 4 people they will not stop the court action this month so as to make sure I learn my lesson to not take on the courts! Probably setting up bailiffs straight after to punish me further they double the debt so the financial strain is even more damning but they just don’t care as long as I’m punished and they get their money! You have been warned I will share this statement on any and all media I access!
Unnecessarily Stressful Debt Recovery Process
BW Legal pursued a disputed parking charge on behalf of Premier Parking Solutions, demanding £130 despite an ongoing appeals process. The overall experience was stressful and intimidating. I ultimately paid £130 to avoid potential legal proceedings, despite continuing to dispute the charge. A disproportionate approach to debt recovery.
Shady
Shady, intimidating tactics on behalf of other, awful parasites. Making life worse for everyone and draining our collective resources. Honestly how could you devote your life to working for these heinous suit-gremlins? There's a reason they're so hard to contact and have no public faces. Rot.
Poor customer service and guidance regarding parking fine
Company acting on behalf of Britannia parking for parking notice, which was sent to incorrect address. When information and evidence of parking notice was requested by me from BW legal this was not received & had to be followed up by phone call. Call operatives gave misleading information & were not transparent regarding appeals process. Britannia said could not appeal to them as they had passed onto BW legal. BW legal acknowledged that had not had opportunity to submit appeal/pay as had not received the notice. However there was nothing that could be done, it wasn't their fault that an incorrect address had been used . There was no human element to their dealing with this from their complaints manager, told get legal advise as next steps to escalate the fine.
extremely concerned their portal for…
extremely concerned their portal for customers never work so one can never register to make payments or keep track of them, how is this legal?
BW wrote on behalf of HMRC stating…
BW wrote on behalf of HMRC stating three outstanding sums due over past three years. These sums had been paid on time. A point hMRC conceded and apologised for. Yet BWLegal persisted in sending intimidating emails threatening legal action. I replied to BW legal provided them with payment reference numbers from HMRC. They just would not listen and emailed me again. At this point I became annoyed at their inneficiancy and intransigence. Having lost patience with them because they put the onus of proof of payment on me! I put them straight on the onus of responsibility rests with them and their client, HMRC, not with me! They immediately conceded and recorded the case as having been settled.
Relentless demands, needless stress and no sense of being heard
My experience with BW Legal has been horrendous. They are pursuing me on behalf of UK Car Park Management Ltd over a parking claim I dispute. Despite providing evidence that I believe contradicts their case, I feel completely unheard.
I am now going through court mediation. From my perspective, the focus seems to be on extracting payment rather than properly addressing the evidence. This pursuit has caused stress and wasted my time over something I believe should have been resolved long ago.
To me, this approach feels parasitic: ordinary people carry the pressure, worry and burden of defending themselves while the demands keep coming. Nobody should feel pushed towards paying a disputed claim simply because fighting it becomes exhausting.
I believe practices like those I have experienced deserve scrutiny by the higher courts, where an appropriate case comes before them, and by the relevant regulators. The reason is simple: access to justice should mean a fair opportunity to challenge a claim and have the evidence considered. It should not depend on how much stress someone can withstand. Where improper conduct is established, there should be meaningful consequences.

Submitted a formal complaint regarding your recent debt recovery letter sent to my private home address. The debt you are attempting to recover is not mine, and I have no legal, financial, or contractual connection to the property or the alleged debtor.I acted solely as the estate agent involved in the sale of the property. Following completion, I have no ownership, no management role, no tenancy, and no liability for any debts associated with the property.Your attempt to pursue me personally constitutes a clear breach of FCA Consumer Credit Sourcebook
bwlegal taking over British gas customer services?
There is nothing about their correspondence or conduct that gives me confidence that BW Legal operates as a professional solicitors’ firm. In my experience, their approach has been extremely concerning, and I would go as far as to describe it as that of a scam operation.
I also fail to understand why British Gas would choose to outsource aspects of its customer service to a company that communicates with customers in this manner. After being a loyal British Gas customer for 20 years, we have now decided to take our business elsewhere.
It is extremely disappointing that 20 years of loyalty have ended this way. British Gas should seriously reconsider how it handles its customers and, in particular, the companies it chooses to represent.

Please be very wary of this company
Please be very wary of this company. I am a solicitor trying to deal with them and they do not respond and when they do they give every excuse why they haven't responded and why they cannot provide evidence to back up their threatening letter of demand. If you are contacted by them, please contact a professional solicitor or CAB. Do not pay them any money until you have all the evidence and you have sought professional legal advice. Please also contact the SRA and make a formal complaint.

Useless, this happens all the time
One star. Not because it's deserved, but because the platform, in its infinite gentleness, won't let me select "minus several thousand
Let's start with the headline, since it deserves top billing: BW Legal pursued me for a debt belonging to an entirely a different name, a different person, who has never lived at my address. Their own "formal tracing exercise" concluded that two distinct Chinese surnames, which don't even sound alike, were merely "a typographical discrepancy," and on that basis they obtained a default County Court Judgment against me. I was never served. Everything that follows is simply the story of how long it took them to admit any of that.
For context on the logistics, because they deserve recognition too: the debt was originally owed to TalkTalk, sold at some point to an American company, JCI International Acquisition, LLC — presumably because chasing a small domestic debt is so much more satisfying once it's crossed an ocean — who then instructed this Leeds-based firm to do the actual chasing on British soil. British debt, sold to America, chased by Leeds, landed on the wrong name entirely. A truly international effort, in service of getting the wrong person.
What followed was a full calendar year of monthly correspondence for a woman I have never met, each letter returned with the same helpful annotation — "no such person here" — in the quaint, old-fashioned hope that somebody, somewhere, on either side of the ocean, might read it. When I eventually stumbled upon the CCJ sitting quietly on my own credit file, like a parcel I never ordered and certainly never wanted, BW Legal's formal written response managed the impressive feat of denying everything simultaneously: no liability, no error, no breach, nothing whatsoever to see here. The judgment, they informed me with a straight face, had been "obtained lawfully." They would not be applying to set it aside. They would not be incurring so much as a penny to correct their own mistake. They did, however, most generously invite me to pay the court fee myself, so that I might personally tidy up the mess made on two continents. One almost admires the nerve.
Then, my favourite part, so do stay with me, three weeks later, entirely of their own volition, with nobody asking and no fee paid by anyone but themselves, the judgment was quietly set aside. The court's own words, rather more candid than anything BW Legal managed in six months of correspondence, were that proceedings "should not have been commenced against the Defendant" at all. So the willingness was there all along. The competence was there all along. It simply required absolutely no involvement from me — and, one suspects, a rather awkward transatlantic phone call — to finally switch on.
I've had a browse through the other reviews here, purely for research purposes, and I'm delighted to report I am not remotely special. Wrong names, wrong addresses, wrong debts, the same "typographical" excuse, wheeled out with the reliability of a firm that has clearly never once considered updating its material.
(A brief, warm word for anyone at BW Legal reading this in the course of your duties: this review is, most tediously for you, entirely accurate, fully dated, and comprehensively evidenced by your own correspondence — including your own letter naming your American client. I understand you once took Trustpilot to the High Court over reviews rather like this one, and lost rather comprehensively — BW Legal Services Ltd v Trustpilot A/S [2024] EWHC 1449 (KB) — so I do hope you'll spare us both the sequel.)

I payed them 93£ for something that I should have not payed anything and after that they started again with another case, what a scam !
SCAM - Like everyone else has expressed
Convinced at this point, as other commenters have stated that they operate as a scam. They should be dissolved. Made a payment for a ticket via their online portal. Would be my luck as systems were down however the payment was still taken from my bank account. Have sent evidence, they claim they can’t recover it (eventhough, I can clearly see it on my side & says “awaiting BW response”). Have since asked for a statement to prove no funds were not received so I can forward this to the bank to cancel the payment so I can re attempt before the due date & they claim they can’t/don’t provide such. Absolutely ridiculous and ethically disingenuous. The government should look into such kind of independent companies seeking to shaft the public. I say ignore all letters from them since they don’t know how to operate as a legal functional entity. SHAME
Not sure what’s going on here as they seek to extort money from Ex-pats
Not sure what’s going on here with this so-called BW Legal? l have not lived (or have anything in the UK) and/or been UK resident for tax purposes for more than THIRTY FIVE YEARS and now this July these guys start sending through tax debt demands... HMRC have not contacted me, nor should they as l pay my taxes in my country of residence. BW Legal cannot (or will not?) explain why l have an outstanding UK tax bill after all these years of not working or have residence in the UK and a lawyer friend of mine in the UK told me that BW Legal are not even on the HMRC debt collectors list…. Be careful if you receive anything from these guys I guess its ANOTHER scam.
