Brighton & Hove currently operate 222 buses across a network of 73 routes with 2,000 bus stops, serving the urban area of Brighton and Hove and connecting the city to Crowborough, Eastbourne, Lewes and Tunbridge Wells. Metrobus our sister company currently operate 125 buses across 50 routes through Sussex, Surrey and Kent. Between the two companies, our passengers made 50 million passenger journeys during the year which is more bus journeys per head of the population than anywhere in the UK outside of London.

Brighton and Hove bus service is the absolute pits especially if you live in Southwick or Shoreham. The number 2 and 46 bus barely are ever on time and frequently get taken off .yet the number 1 and no 7 seem to be in over abundance along with the 5 ,5B ,and 5A.
Every week there's always buses taken off and only every twenty minutes when they do run on time. Once in blue moon. Its got to be the most unreliable service throughout the city its utterly appalling. Give up your personal transport to rely on these clowns you must be barking mad and you'll save hours in time if you take your car providing you can park.
The most unreliable totally awful service imaginable.

Took the 12a this morning Saltdean to Peacehaven part and Darryl the driver was friendly and professional, going above and beyond to help people. Really an asset to the company. I know this is a hard job and it was really amazing to see such a cool, calm and kind person. Thank you!

I contacted the Brighton buses as I had an issue with the wifi access. And they responded very quickly putting my mind at rest knowing, the problem is with that particular bus. I would especially thank Jon at customer service as he went out of his way to sort out the problem.

I recently purchased a model Coaster bus from the Brighton & Hove buses website.
I contacted them to ask if I could have my package delivered by Royal Mail. I had a prompt reply from David saying they only use Royal Mail.
My model bus arrived quickly and was very well packed by David.
I am extremely pleased with the mode and highly recommend everyone to use the Brighton & Hove website

As a visitor to Brighton, I bought the wrong saver ticket in error. My city saver cost £6.30. I should have bought a network saver costing £7.30.
When I boarded the homeward bound bus, I was charged £3.00 because my saver ticket was invalid.
A customer friendly gesture would have been for the driver to have charged me the difference of £1, between the two savers, or to have accepted the incorrect ticket with a reprimand.
Disappointing but typical of Rip Off Britain.

Both the staff at north street office ate very polite and very professional. I really want to highlight on the bus driver who was driving number 2 from Rottingdean to Horsham (I think) i caught the bus at crescent driver south on 3/3/2026 at 1:21 but unfortunately I left my jacket with my house keys and earphones. I thought I have lost it and would never find it again to my surprise on the next day the same bus driver recognised me and told me my jacket is been handed over to the garage at Hove. The fact that he remembers and managed to hand it over is beyond impressive. I would love to pass my gratitude to this bus driver. Thank you

Too many times buses are on the timetables, buses are on the live boards as being due, then just suddenly disappear from the live boards when they are supposed to show up. Had it happen to me four times in the last week. If you can't trust either the timetables or the live boards, what is the point of any of them?

I'm unfortunately reliant on the 28 and 29 service between Brighton and Lewes which is abysmal. I've never known a service so poorly run anywhere.
I'm currently sat waiting for over 30mins for a bus that should be ever 10mins, yet again having to contact an appointment to say I'll be late.
No matter how much additional time I add to my journey, they still manage to make me late often enough. It has had such an impact on my work and also personal appointments I am so fed up of it. But the fares keep going up so that's great.

The 22 is never on time, it is either delayed, or simple just doesn’t show up until the next alloted time slot. As a student, this gets me in serious trouble, because if makes me incredibly late a lot. Today I have a booking for somewhere with a friend, and if you are late we will get charged 40 pounds, which is now what will happen. There is never an apology for delays, or any explanations as to why. The buses are inconsistent, and doesn’t make anyone’s life less stressful, but more stressful if anything. They should be more consistent with the amount that they charge.

I came into the Travel shop in Brighton this afternoon and was served by Danny, who sat my granddaughter and me down to sort out her new bus pass. He took his time explaining how the bus pass worked and the best ways of paying for my granddaughter's travel, and even helped me with timetable information for when she starts her new school.
