Vile scum

Vile scum, is the only way I can describe them. They're very sneaky, they will do the legal minimum if at all to "contact" you and then rack up made up fees along the way. My second time dealing with them, this time I owed council tax which I had a payment plan set up with the council any way. I owed around £600 left and then I get a threatening letter from Bristow and sutor now saying I owe over £900.

On the letter it says you can set up a payment plan so I ring up and ask to do so as I've literally got £5 to my name until pay day. The ignoramus on the phone says I must pay the full amount immediately or bailiffs will come to my house. I then quote the letter they sent me and he gaslights me saying its not possible yet last time I dealt with them I was able to set up a payment plan.

When I was younger I messed around with credit like fool, so I have dealt with my fair share of debt collectors and contrary to popular opinion most of them are human and are willing to work with you to set up affordable payment plans. These guys have to be the most unprofessional, uncompassionate thugs I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Just read their other reviews, not disgruntled "clients" they go after the wrong people, add on fees for no good reason and will not be willing to help you in any way. Rather than helping me find an affordable payment plan I've now had to take out a payday loan with stupendous interest thus pushing me further in to debt.

Got a call from them at 7am on a Sunday…

Got a call from them at 7am on a Sunday morning to collect on a unpaid toll charge, toll charge was £4 and they charged be £623. They said they were at my business property at 7am on a Sunday morning, CCTV showed no one there. Complete liars.
My issue is, why would you go to a business address or call a business number at 7am on a Sunday morning.

These clowns are a law onto themselves.

Received the email nasty one well don't…

RReceived the email nasty one well don't drive or own a car so so that's pointless lol client and myself have contacted you regarding the new repayments starting from 28th March ***and payment will be made on 20th March for the new repayments for £150 ***Every 4 weeks this been explained **but u choose ignore make threating outbursts viva email ** u broke the original payment agreement by 9 weeks not providing the correct document that's why I have arrears possibly **that isn't my problem. ..you customer service agent responsible for delay / not actively making the access to send the bar code within 7 days waited 9 weeks !!! So you tryed blaming postal service when it was ur department and customer service agent .... received notification email from the client dated 6th March which provides evidence regarding the new repayments going forward / and they contacted you .... Left lots of contact here but had no response probably this time but at least it's here in black and white **

Out of all the debt collection agencies…

Out of all the debt collection agencies I have encountered, Bristow & Sutor is by far the worst. They are unnecessarily aggressive and show zero regard for personal circumstances. Unlike other agencies that work with you to find a sustainable payment solution, this company relies on threats and bullying tactics to demand immediate payment regardless of the impact on the debtor.

The irony is that while they are aggressive in demanding money, their systems are completely backwards. They make it incredibly difficult to actually pay: you are required to have a reference number, yet the number they provide doesn't work on their website. When you try to call to resolve the issue, no one answers. This leaves you in a stressful limbo, waiting for a bailiff to show up at your door for a debt you are actively trying to settle.

The fact that so many local councils, such as Oxfordshire County Council continue to employ such a poorly run, predatory company is a damning reflection of those councils’ own values. Avoid dealing with them if you have any other choice.

obnoxious rude extremely aggressive

on 21 sep 2025 apparently I had not paid a daily charge zone but i had never been to this area specified. Silvertown. The photo of the car reg was not not clear unable to read.
they sent original bill to an old address so I knew nothing of this until they did their job and found our new address letter dated 5 march 26 arrived 7 march.
claiming it is my fault for not changing address on v5 car.
I called to disguss this with Gareth, passed the security he went into how much is owed. My reply "I would like to talk about why you sent to the wrong address. before i finished he rudely loudly and aggressively interrupted talking over me, My reply excuse me can i finish what i was saying , his reply " if you are going to be rude i will stop this call and i will increase the bill and the cari dealt with such for collection. No I am not being rude i would like to ask why you did not find correct address. he hung up. I called back spoke with Chris who spoke just as aggressively pay or collection.
Never have i dealt with such rude obnoxious company.
Highly recommend this company should learn manners respect or close down

One specific member of staff was brilliant

This review is specially regarding my experience with an agent called Benjamin - DCO, via live chat, on 6th March.

Previous to this interaction, I found the other members of staff to be rude, pressurising and unhelpful.

Benjamin was the opposite of this. Firstly, he helped me to revise my payment plan, ensuring I could afford what was agreed to. He did this is a professional, polite and reassuring manner. He has been the only positive experience I have had whilst speaking to a member of staff here.

I hope this feedback is passed onto you, because you've genuinely been brilliant 👏

Absolutely awful company to deal with I…

Absolutely awful company to deal with I attended a funeral of close family member and forgot to pay the dartford charge which is fine I except and would pay the fine however I never received any letters for any fines untill this company leave threatening letters on my car claiming it was clamped which it wasnt, I call and explain im appealing the extra charges as ive not received post from royal mail the rudeness and aggressiveness I received was awful the lady on the phone even told me I either pay in full or have my car taken and then proceeded to hang up on me. Fast forward 6 months I lost the appeal so I call up to ask for a payment plan as im not in a financial position to pay a large sum of money out I was told no they dont do payment plans I either pay in full by 24 hours or my car will be taken yet when I look online payment plans are an option so I was totally lied to! This company is horrific no compassion no willingness to help just lies and threats to force money out of you its disgraceful and needs to be investigated I dont know how these people live with themselves being rude and threatening people on a daily basis

Tea and biscuits waiting in hell for the company owner

Genuinely has to be the worst enforcement company in the uk , there staff that man the phones have no manners or empathy and clearly have something better to do hence why they rush you off the phone ,they say all calls are recorded but the way the staff feel comfortable to be rude clearly shows this is not true , this company does not care about situations or circumstances they just want their money.

Spoke to a new guy today

Spoke to a new guy today, rather polite and understanding of my situation.
Letting me pay some towards the bill next week and then set up a new payment plan.
However once paid off i wish they will go away and leave me alone considering i dont owe west Oxfordshire council the money.

If I could of given you a zero star…

If I could of given you a zero star rather than 1 star I would do . At the moment I'm paying a debt off for over 3000 pound at 300 pounds per month but didn't agree with the amount to start with but decided to pay in the end . This was nearly 1 year ago and all of a sudden you are asking for another 2700 pounds , all this debt is for council tax but this time your collector keeps phoning me saying he's going to clamp my car and remove it even though I keep saying it on hp, he says he's allowed to take the car whatever and when I speak to him he's verbally very aggressive so I don't answer the phone to him anymore . Oh and by the way the agents name is Mr Singh

TFL debts

I paid outstanding debts for TFL and I'm still getting enforcement letters on a debt paid 10 days ago. Even taking into account crossover dates it shouldn't take 10 days for a letter to arrive, this causes stress and they don't care ! TFL need to review their account with this company as I've paid in full.

If I could give Zero I would

If I could give Zero I would. Ignored all my attempts at contact, but happy to contact me! Vulnerable household ignored. Payment plans refused. Letters received days after the deadline. I put a review on here and they ask for more information, what more information do they need! I have sent them 4 or 5 contact requests on their webpage! Read them!
I have gone back to the TEC and asked for a statutory hold in which is being reviewed and I have asked to halt all action, but hey, what a surprise, they email me asking them to contact them as I haven't done so and they will class it as an oversite, wow! ....I have put in a letter requesting all action suspended, a SAR request and looking to take legal action on the company if they do not adhere to my requests. I have worked with Bailiffs and Enforcement Officers for 12 years in a previous job and these are by far the worse I have ever dealt with. Date of experience, make it dates of experience! All negative!

Horrendous company

Horrendous company. Unlawful practices. No communication on their whatsapp. Wont follow basic customer service to ensure they can add on fees. Hope this gets stopped.

I had a message from this company last…

I had a message from this company last night completely out of the blue, that just read, you have a fine of 590 pounds and the company name and a link to pay it? I obviously thought it was a scam, so I just left it, then 2 min later I had a phone call from a mobile number and it was a debt collector from this company, he told me I had a ulez fine and he had been to my old address and was looking for my car to take it away, very aggressive, very threatening and nasty

One of the most horrendous companies I've ever experienced

One of the most horrendous companies I've ever dealt with. I wrongly received a fine of £325 for being in a yellow box. I had never received the original fine, which I would have happily paid. When I explained this to the woman on the phone she simply told me it wasn't her problem and that I either paid the fine or they would send someone to collect over £1,000 worth of stuff from my office. When I simply asked how I disputed this, she said 'you can't, you either pay or we take stuff, you need to get over it' awful awful company. The owner of this company should be ashamed that their staff are acting like this.

Why can I not give zero stars?

Why can I not give zero stars? That's what they deserve. Sending two demanding letters five weeks after the money was paid. A website that is not remotely fit for purpose. (Acknowledges I have a zero balance and then asks if I'm here to "pay the outstanding balance of £0.00" )!
What planet have these people come from?
