I arranged hire of a one person cordless post hole digger from their Brighton branch. When I enquired about hire the agent told me the tool would be put on charge ready for collection. I tried to give my details to the agent but I was told it wasn’t needed. It didn’t inspire me with any confidence and unsurprisingly when I visited the branch to pick up the hole digger I was told it was being repaired. The agent told me he tried to contact me, which is untrue because no details for the hire were taken. Unprofessional, unhelpful and causing real inconvenience for Brandon Hire customers.

Hired six props from the Hove branch. One had the pin missing so couldn’t be used. One was extremely rusty, making it difficult to use.
When I told them afterwards they just said I should have bought them back for exchange.
No, you should have checked them before supplying them.

Customer service is all about good communication and managing customer expectations, which Brandon don't seem to do

I called before placing the order to find out what time delivery would be and was told 10am
On the day of delivery nothing arrived so I called at 11.30 and was told they had had a problem and I could now expect it in about 2 hours. It arrived at 13.30pm
If I hadn't called I would have been none the wiser
I had a painter waiting for the ladder and he sat around for 3.5 hours waiting for it, with me paying for his time
Brandon made no apology nor made any attempt to contact me to inform me of the delay
I had a similar experience when it was picked up. I received an email informing me of the pickup. I called the branch to find out the time and was told between 10am and 2pm. I waited in all day, nobody arrived or called. They arrived the next day!

Helpful and instructive staff. Everything I didn't use got refunded as they said it would, no issues. Would recommend.

Very quick and efficient on arrival and drop off. Helpful member of staff helped me load and unload a heavy piece of equipment in and out of my car.

I have to raise a serious concern regarding the 1 day hire of a chipper.
I asked for delivery around 8:30am today and collection between 3 and 4pm.
We had to chase the Hove depot to ask where the machine was at 9:30 to be told that we would not get this until at least midday as it had to be collected from another hirer , then serviced and then delivered to us.
Also that it would be collected on Monday.
Why was this not delivered as per my request I find this totally unacceptable.
I have had 3 staff on site waiting for the chipper to carry out a days work.
Now that the chipper is not being delivered on time my staff will now not have time to complete the work and it has cost me money to have then sitting around waiting so our client will not get the work completed as they asked.
I find the the whole situation totally unacceptable and as we will only get 3 hours of work from the machine I am looking for a full refund on the hire of £183.00.
Also I asked that the chipper be collected today between 3 and 4pm which it is not now.
I am advising you Brandon Hire that it will not be in a secure location hence we asked to be collected on the same day we accept no liability or responsibility ir the machine is broken or stolen this is firmly on Brandon Hire as they never followed the instructions and never informed me in advance of any delivery issues after my request.
If a senior manager whites to call me on this matter I will be happy to have a discussion with them
I am very disappointed that despite my email complaint on Friday nobody has called me or even emailed back.
Further to my email below the chipper never arrived until after 2pm on Friday, how on earth is this a one days hire when I had specifically asked for it to be delivered by 8:30am and then collected between 3 and 4pm the same day.
It may well have been left on site over the weekend but that was no good to me as we wanted it on Friday.
We were only on site until 3pm so we never managed to use the chipper so I would like a full refund.
I also had 3 men on site on Friday and spent half the day doing nothing waiting on the chipper a waste of money and time.
Also when I spoke to David at Hove initially he said that it would be with us by midday (which still would not be a days hire) later I spoke to him again around 2pm and he stated that the head office was to blame as they had only notified Hove the previous day (Thursday) of the hire and they never had a chipper available!
Why take a hire earlier in the week if no machine was available, why did you not advise me of this.
I wish to make this a Formal Complaint so please can you advise me of Brandon Hire’s complaints procedure.
