When my auto renewal came round I knew…
When my auto renewal came round I knew I would be selling my car and getting a new one in the near future so I called be wiser to see if I would be able to cancel my policy if need be before taking it out, I was advised that there would be a £55 cancellation fee and nothing else. Today I checked to see how much it would cost to change my car on my current policy to my new car and was told it would be an EXTRA £632.70 with my monthly payments going from £39 per month to £105 per month which is just extortionate so I asked to cancel my policy and was then told that I would need to pay £105 in order to cancel my policy due to paying for days covered and admin fees baring in mind I paid the first payment on the 18th March so I’ve not even had the policy out a month and I never would’ve taken it out had I known about this and I specifically called prior to ensure this wouldn’t happen and was assured I would only need to pay a £55 cancellation fee should I wish to cancel. Absolutely appalled by this service times are tough and I tried to ensure this wouldn’t happen but of course they only care about money! I would never recommend be wiser to any one, I have raised a complaint on this issue also do not use!

However, upon inquiring about changing your car details, you were informed of an additional cost of £632.70, which has understandably caused you concern due to the significant increase in your monthly payments from £39 to £105.
Vehicle changes can sometimes affect your premium considerably, as the insurer reassesses the risk based on the new car's value, security features, and repair costs. The extra charge reflects this reassessment.
As you have logged a complaint our team will be in contact with you directly once they have investigated the concerns you raised.

Cancellation cost

I understand that your policy automatically renewed, and although you found a cheaper quote and called within the 14-day period, you were still charged just under £80 to cancel. I apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. I’m sorry you weren’t aware the administration fee would be retained if you cancelled within the cooling off period and understand how frustrating it must have been. The £40 administration fee is outlined in our terms of business which is available to view prior to the policy being accepted, but I realise this doesn't make the situation any less frustrating for you. You are also charged for the amount of days on cover that have not been paid for.
