Product Manager

I sent several professional, industry-standard outreach emails to the Chief Product Officer (C-Level Executive) over the course of several weeks to discuss how I could help resolve challenges within his department. In my last email, I specifically stated it was my 'final note' to make it clear I would not be reaching out again. Only after I had already professionally closed the loop did this executive choose to respond with a blunt and unnecessarily aggressive 'please stop emailing me.' It is a poor reflection on company leadership when a C-Level Executive waits until a potential candidate has already ended the conversation to throw a hostile jab. He had multiple opportunities to provide a professional 'no thank you' over the preceding weeks but chose instead to be reactive and rude. This interaction confirms the toxic leadership culture mentioned in other reviews, true leaders handle professional networking with basic civility, not unprovoked hostility.

Beware on contract

Attentive’s platform itself is fine, but the contract structure and enforcement approach are extremely restrictive and disappointing.

The agreement includes strict SMS exclusivity with long-term lock-in, limited flexibility, and significant financial penalties (more than reasonable costs) if you need to adapt your tech stack. Even more frustrating, the Attentive team has taken an overly aggressive interpretation of the contract—suggesting that even discussing or planning with other providers would be a breach, despite that not being clearly supported by the language.

For a fast-growing e-commerce business, this makes it very difficult to evolve, evaluate alternatives, or integrate with tools Attentive doesn’t support. When integration gaps arise, the exclusivity still applies, leaving you stuck paying for services that no longer meet your needs.

If you value flexibility, vendor interoperability, or the ability to plan ahead without pressure tactics, read the contract very carefully before signing.

PREDATORY

I've been waiting for 2 hours to try to get my customer list exported because we are leaving this HORRIBLE SMS platform called Attentive (which is a joke because every time I email anyone there I get their out of office).

What I find truly infuriating is that you, as a paying customer, cannot download your own data. Nope, you have to go through your rep (get their out of office), then you're directed to an AI bot, then after an hour of losing your mind talking to the AI bot, you eventually get to a person who will tell you that, no, Attentive actually doesn't have a singular report of YOUR customer data. But, they can send you a couple of different weird random reports that you can then cobble together in excel using Vlookups, etc

Again, going on hour 3 here and I still have not gotten ANY of these reports. I really HATE writing reviews like this but the amount of stress and money this company has caused me through its intentional actions of making it basically IMPOSSIBLE to offboard from the platform are intentional, predatory, and cruel.

Aggressive, unwanted sales calls

I have been receiving unwanted, unsolicited, unwelcome sales calls to my personal cell phone. This has been going on periodically for quite some time. Every time I tell them to take me off their list and block the number. My company will NEVER do business with Attentive specifically because of their harassing sales tactic.

Signed up for the free trial and I'm…

Signed up for the free trial and I'm continuing to get emails from the billing department saying I owe them money, despite my rep saying I don't.

Besides that, their projections were no where near the actual numbers. They make you shut off your email flow and only have their SMS flow running. So of course, the SMS flow looks better. The sign up form also makes it look like you have to sign up for SMS, so the submission rate was lower than what I had with Klaviyo, resulting in less income from flows and campaigns.

I would stay away

I would stay away. They had an issue billing me for the minimum spend I agreed to per quarter. Did they give me a heads-up? Nope. I understand it's not their job, but for what we pay them, it's unacceptable in my book. They also continue to cancel all the meetings I am supposed to have to continue to improve my text program. Not worth the money.

My 14 year old vulnerable daughter was…

My 14 year old vulnerable daughter was approached on the street and persuaded to pay £25 of her money to something she had no idea what she was paying for. Being a minor approached by an adult she didn't feel she could say no and was told it was for a youth programme. She was without an adult and it is unethical and presumably illegal to take money from a minor especially when they don't have the capacity to know what they are paying for! Absolutely disgusting for adults to approach and prey on children and coercing them into something they have no understanding of!

Inappropriate remarks on street and this is how they want to get customers they are very rude and disrespectful. This is how they walk around in Watford High Street namely by saying you dropped something , you dropped your pants and when . I challenge them they laughed.

sleezy salesteam poor interface a recipe for destruction

I've been using Attentive since 2022 - and it became abundantly clear that the functionalities and user experience is severely lacking.
I had never signed a long-term contract, and was hesitant. I specifically asked, what happens if I don't like it, 3 year contract in, they said we could cancel. I remember this vividly because I was so hesitant, but with their reassurance I signed.

This is the one of few software I regret getting for our business. Let's start with the interface. The way text messages come into the dashboard are hard to populate and read. You have to click week by week backwards in order to even see the message.
It's the most horrendous experience I've seen in a UI/UX Design. It's still the same after 2 years of this. I've sent in feedback on this and looks like no one cares.

Text fees are absolutely outrageous.

Attentive to Gorgias integration never worked. Both blame each other after submitting several support tickets. I trust Gorgias as every other integration has worked no problem... Attentive on the other hand... less so.
After a year I gave up using Attentive. a bit later I asked to get out of contract as we were not happy with the system. Of course, their predatory contract set up is.. a contract.. so can't get out of it. Just counting down the days....

Stay away from this once-exciting SMS provider that has been lacking from day 1.

After working with them for years ive…

After working with them for years ive had such a bad experience due to bad systems being in place. I was over charged because i agreed to a different plan but they still charged me 350$ a month when i signed a contract. Then on black friday my account gets locked.... I was just told to pay it all to get active for black friday and they would make it right after... well they didn't and my account was not active for Black friday so i got NO texts out for business. Very unfortunate because they came so highly rated but with staff changes and systems in place they have lost my business.

Bad experiences with Attentive Mobile…

As their customer in Australia, the experiences with Attentive Mobile is not pleasant. In opening an account with them, a guy only addressed the fee is related to the volume. He didn't mention that there is a minimum monthly fee. So even if I stopped my campaigns, there is still fees occurred. Nobody has come to listen to my explanation rather than the collection team. The SMS marketing result is not as good as they promoted. It will be easier and more effective to do Google ads with cheaper prices.
Disappointed with their services. Not recommended.

Attentive Mobile - predatory contracting

Attentive Mobile spams you to get a trial, then refuses to budge when new things come out and you want out of their contract. This is a company that's part of the reason we need to pass junk fee laws because Attentive limits your ability to grow as technology progresses and locks you into a contract with no means to escape unless you pay $1000/quarter. I DO NOT recommend this software at all. You're better off going with something like Focus Funnels, no contract! Klaviyo, EXCELLENT service and NO CONTRACT! Attentive can kick rocks - I tried to speak with multiple people at the company and explain how they are holding back our progress in integrations and they all said to pay or face legal action. HORRIBLE COMPANY

These people have been spamming my…

These people have been spamming my company mailboxes for months now. We NEVER signed up for their lists, which means they illegally obtained the emails and put them on their list. We've directly told their pushy sales people to STOP CONTACTING us but they keep at it. So congrats, here's a 1 star for your pushy sales tactics.
