6 months post Athena
As promised, I am updating my refinancing away from Athena. It’s been 6 months refinancing to a new bank, and the world hasn’t collapsed as Athena suggest. We still have a competitive rate 5.74%, and yes the rates have gone up but only in line with the RBA. We got $4000 also to transfer over. I am really surprised at all the 5 star Athena reviews, I hope they are genuine. So we are really happy with our refinancing to a ‘big bank’ so far. Will post again in 6 months.

We’re glad that your rate hasn’t creeped up beyond the RBA interest rate increases. As we mentioned to you previously, the latest RBA data available showed that the average loyalty tax sits at 50bp, which costs the typical customer over $52,000 over the life of their loan 😡 As a previous Athenian, you’d know that we ditched the loyalty tax at the very start and were one of the only Aussie lenders to do so.
When comparing lenders in the market, make sure other lenders aren’t charging fees, existing customers are getting the same rate as new ones and the lender is rewarding you for your loyalty.
At Athena, we don’t charge fees on Straight Up and Power Up products, existing customers get the same rates as new ones on like-for-like loans, and with our AcceleRATES, we discount your rate as you pay it down!

I now have 2 of my refinanced mortgages with Athena. I really like the App & the functionality to see what your loan details are.
Athena is very easy to communicate with - especially via text & email - they make it easy, step by step & its quick.
This is of course in addition to good rates. I like the flexibility to make additional payments.

Lighting fast approval and settlement
From approval to settlement was lightning fast. Their support team seems to be very prompt and you don't really need to get on the phone to speak to anyone which is I really like. They promptly follow up on sms/emails. If you are looking to get on a home loan quickly Athena is hands down the best!

Easy, friendly, great communication by email, phone and txt.
Very good after settlement communication of repayments.
I'm self employed and my loans usually take a long time to be reviewed before they settle. This has been the bestoan experience I've ever had. I'm an Accountant, do I help clients with loans all the time.

Welcome to the 21st Century
I've tried for home loans in the past with mortgage brokers and banks. All were horrible, inefficient, and one failed due to incompetence.
Not so with Athena. Start to finish, it was no muss, no fuss. It actually felt like we might finally be in the 21st Century. Thanks Athena!
