Amber's app displays a range of errors eg communication errors, curtailment errors and their smart shift service seems to have some quirks that are difficult to work around. I have been trying to contact Amber support since January 2026 via email, phone and snail mail for help with no response. Its now March 2026 and I have moved to another provider.

I signed with Amber after looking at the government web site recommendations. We were getting solar and a battery. We were paying $220 a month with Origin. Without the solar and battery we paid around $45 for 2 weeks. Since the solar and battery have been installed we havent paid a cent. I couldnt ask for more.

Bad 1st month
Been with them 1 month, I sell between 6pm and 9pm usually and only buy when I have to, and around midday to buy when really cheap. But my bill is similar when compared to before the battery was installed. Talking to them now, but not impressed so far

I have been with Amber for 4 months…
I have been with Amber for 4 months now. The experience has been great. Since getting our new Sig solar and battery system we have got rid of all of our gas appliances and are totally electric. We are in Credit. The last couple of days have been cloudy so solar production has been low. I top up the battery when the grid is green for as little as 4 cents a KW/h.
I love the easy to use app and have been very happy with the smart shift Automation. You can just set it and forget it. It feels great to be able to help the grid and Australia’s move to green energy.
Very happy with Amber Electric
Very happy with Amber Electric. The sign up was easy. It takes a while to go automated but the app keeps you updated. My inverter had to be replaced and I had sent emails but nothing was happening and they are only taking emergency phone calls. I tried to edit my inverter serial number but as my inverter is a Fox brand I couldn’t get it to work.I found on the app that you can report something not looking correct. I want my issue off last Sunday and next thing I received an email from Lindon asking for my serial number. I sent it off to him and he entered it for me and within a couple of hours the error disappeared and he hey were now receiving my data. I have been with Amber for over a month and my usage costs are very minimal even though only halo my solar panels were working due to the inverter issue. Lindon was great to deal with and should be given credit for his work.

Amber , SmartShift .Curtailing Apps
SmartShift is not that good or their programmers it wants to buy power off the grid and has my solar system turned off. My battery is not even full and Curtailing has turned off my solar. It has been 2 months with Amber now and i am still having issues unresolved .Not happy the concept is great but it do not work properly so sad.

Lindon was great
Lindon was great! Handle my issues and resolved them promptly. Amber has a great product and after having issues with my inverter and replacing it! It took some TLC to get it all working again. I’m very happy now
Can't fault the customer service
Can't fault the customer service. Even when they explain the enormous workload they are under with the battery uptake, they have been prompt in answering my multiple questions. I am very impressed with the whole experience.
Great concept
Only a few days in with a new battery but already better off financially than I was on a standard energy plan with poor feedin tariffs. Super fast and seamless to connect and looking forward to seeing how the smart shift works after the learning period. Great concept

Staff are great and over all been with Amber for a few years now and had great service. Their app is great in letting you know electricity prices and when to sell and when to buy. Highly recommended. Only reason not a 5 start is due to the difficulty in getting through to talk to someone.
Winning Customer Service
Apart from great money saving prices, easy joining and ease of using their app, Amber has great customer service officers. We had our inverter replaces under warranty, and there was an issue with on boarding. Our issue was escalated to Lindon who provided us the type of customer service you dream of but rarely receive. Lindon kept all his promises, called us when he said he would and kept us up to date with the issue and what was being done to fix it. He made a stressful situation much easier to deal with and we are so grateful.
Amber’s unique offering rocks!
Since signing up in December 2025, after I installed a FoxESS 42kwh battery, I have watched the Amber team learn about my system usage and help optimise my battery and electricity costs. My first bill during this 30day learning period was a credit of $100 !! And well into the second month I am in credit again.
Comments: the dynamic nature of wholesale pricing changes every 5 minutes, and Ambers algorithms takes advantage of this (and also curtails when the FIT goes negative). I needed to have my battery installer update the firmware in my FoxESS system for curtailment to work well. This isn’t well documented by Amber (let’s face it is really a Fox issue). Since updating the firmware the Amber algorithms have been great.
The Amber team have an impeccable offering and they appear to be growing quickly with many new staff. This is needed.
I am now at the stage of understanding what why offer and how the control my system, and hence I can now leave it to Amber, to operate my system. Thanks.
Battrery Install with Integration into present Solar system with Smart Switch
With Amber we asked them to provide the service of install 20KW battery and Integrate with our oresent 6.6KW Solar System in place. The job was done very well .
With the Smart Switch the first month electricity bill was Credit - And expect the same for months to come
The Amber model takes out the risk
The Amber model takes out the risk based profit charged by the retailers. Makes me smile 😊

I was pointed in the direction of Amber by my local solar business, and I have been 'carried' through all aspects of the opportunities that could work for me, from the staff of Amber. I am not an expert on Solar, in fact I am pretty ignorant of the technical side but, what the people of Amber told me has been proven correct, I am able to count the $ and Amber, in my experience, have proven to be who they say they are.
