AbleWorld Broxburn

I used AbleWorld Broxburn to purchase a stairlift. I phoned on the Thursday and an installer came on Friday morning to measure up and give me a quote. Stairlift ordered Friday afternoon and installed the following Wednesday. Fantastic service from start to finish.

Do NOT buy from this company!

I would strongly urge against buying anything of high value from this company!

I bought a riser recliner for £1100 on 3rd October which was delivered to me on 17th October.

I was given a short demonstration once it had been assembled and all seemed fine. However, within a day or so we noticed that there was starting to be a smell coming from the chair similar to stagnant water. The smell became stronger as time went on and so I contacted Ableworld to ask if something could be done.
A manager was sent out to inspect the chair. He arrived and acknowledged he could smell something and so checked it over to make sure it wasn’t a mechanical/electrical smell. He confirmed that it wasn’t and said he would submit a report.

I received a very terse response from Ableworld Head Office saying that the manager had been unable to detect a smell and that therefore they deemed the chair to be working as it should be with no faults!

I am now left with a very expensive, smelly ornament in the corner of my living room. The chair STILL smells and when you sit on it you get a waft of stagnant water.
But apparently that is an acceptable condition to sell a chair in even if it costs £1100.

It seems it’s their word against mine even though I I have to live with this smelly piece of furniture, my opinion is worthless. As a disabled person equipment is expensive and losing money like this really hits hard so to be treated with such contempt by Ableworld is really distressing. If I was able to get rid of this chair I’d have to lose in the region of £800 minimum by selling on eBay and am not in a position to kiss goodbye to that amount of money!

Really VERY disappointed in Ableworld. Most definitely. Won’t be buying from them again and will be advising others not to also.

However, we did not receive any further correspondence back from you, where you would have had the opportunity to respond direct if you did not are agree with our findings at the time.

Absolute joke of a company purchased a…

Absolute joke of a company purchased a stair lift for my mum, Batteries broke after 9 months so had to call them out £125 later fixed now only 13 weeks later the lift beeped and because we never rang them immediately say the warranty on the batteries is void. Now want to charge us the same again to come and fit new batteries Avoid this rip off company at all costs

We understand that you have been in contact with the store Director, who has explained the reasons for the engineer call-out charge. Stairlift batteries can naturally deplete if they are not being charged, and we understand this was the cause in your case, which is why the charge was applied.

We provide clear and consistent guidance on charging. We remind all customers that their stairlift provides a constant trickle charge to the batteries and must remain plugged in at all times to maintain the batteries.

A very welcoming experience

A very welcoming experience. We didn’t feel pressured into purchasing anything. Bridget was extremely helpful, gave good advice & answered all our questions. A demonstration & trial run outside the shop were also very welcomed.

Excellent!!! *****

I use Ableworld in Wrexham often as a Support Worker and the staff there are really helpful and knowledgeable! They are friendly and I always have a laugh with them. Poor website service

I wanted the Bill slippers for my husband he already had a pair which he loved and so wished to replace them. I went to Hyde Ableworld 05/03/2026 which is a 5 minute drive, but they were out of stock, they didn’t know when stock would be in and to try the website. The website had the size listed I wanted, and because my husband was set on these I was prepared to pay the almost £7.00 postage. I then get an email to say they were limited and send when they had a pair- I’m still waiting!
My grudge is against the website and not the shop which is great. Firstly why allow me to purchase when the item is clearly not available, and secondly why the extortionate postage?

Walker

We visited Ableworld to buy a walker for my Mum. Peter & Julie could not have been more helpful. They showed us several models, demonstrated all the features and made suggestions for the best ones. From their advice she was able to try several types before choosing the most appropriate one.
Great service.

Online experience not great

I didn't like the on line ordering process. It was unclear until payment was almost complete what the carriage charge would be and it stated that I would be informed of despatch date and delivery. Apart from telling me it would be delivered by Parcelforce there was no communication regarding delivery and it therefore just turned up at my mothers house without me being able to share any information with her - not idea for a 94 year old lady who lives alone.

As with most online purchases, the delivery charge is displayed during the secure checkout process, where customers are shown a full breakdown of the items ordered along with the applicable carriage charge.

Once an order has been dispatched, it can be tracked through Parcelforce. Email updates are also sent to the email address used when placing the order, which normally includes the estimated delivery date for the recipient.

Great company

Handicare fitted a stairlift for mum but sadly out of guarantee did not want to know unless I took out a service contract.
I rang Ablemobility in Bridgend, they sent out Daniel 2 hours later. Daniel had to replace badly leaking batteries, he serviced and cleaned the outer of the stairlift all at a very reasonable cost.
Daniel is a credit and great advert for the team, he even made mum laugh and as she was worried about her lifeline chair was a task in itself.
Thank you Daniel and Ablemobility who in this world of companies are a shining beacon.

We had a Scooter break down yesterday

We had a Scooter break down yesterday. We were extremely stressed and needed some urgent help. Tom was absolutely brilliant, exceptional Care, Help, Patience and Customer Service. Nothing was too much trouble. Tom went the extra mile and beyond when he lent us a wheelchair to get to an urgent Dental appointment. Eva was also very friendly, helpful and patient. Went to Ableworld Crewe to purchase a…

Went to Ableworld Crewe to purchase a mobility scooter, I just wanted to say how fantastic the service was. Jonathan and Amy were both extremely knowledgeable - especially Jonathan who really went above and beyond. When I went to collect my new scooter I wasn’t able to lift the scooter into the car myself , but he took care of everything without hesitation. Nothing was too much trouble even Amy brought a chair to the desk whilst paying etc as I cannot stand for very long. They both made me feel completely at ease, I can’t thank them enough.

What can I say, on both occasions visiting this store and on email and telephone calls, Peter & Julie at Wigan store have been brilliant, great knowledge of products, explains everything clearly, have brought an adjustable bed and wheelchair, with few other bits. Paisley Store

I recently made a purchase from your store in Paisley and I want to congratulate you on the superb staff you have in store, the ladies are exceptionally good at what they do.
