I have previously rated the new met…

I have previously rated the new met office app as 1 star. I deleted it as it was so bad. Apparently the met office are responding to feedback and putting some features they had removed. I thought I would give it another go but l cannot download the latest version. Checked all my phones settings but no go.

Wetsuit Poorly packed, creased and missing it's hanger

I ordered an O'Neil Epic in ST. It arrived after about a week but came with no hanger which is quite important as O' Neil always supply a correctly sized and shaped hanger for their wetsuits. What should I hang it on? It sounds trivial but a poorly sized hanger doesn't do a wetsuit any good. The suit looked as though it was a returned item that had previously been tried on and then repackaged, which I am not too happy about. It was sent in a unpadded thin black bag. This meant that during the transport and delivery process other stuff piled on top of it has caused a crease across the chest panel where it was folded and also several shallow round indentations in the neoprene that can be felt from inside the wet suit. I suppose you could say that this is all superficial and that stuff does get returned after being tried on and it has to be resold and that stuff can get a bit knocked about in transit. But sending out a £209 wetsuit in such flimsy packaging is not brilliant and if i pay full undiscounted price for a wetsuit I do expect it to arrive as a new suit and carefully packed without indetations and creases in the neoprene and complete
with it's proper hanger. It's a bit irritating to read the accopanying leaflet from Wetsuit Centre which tells me that wetsuits are delicate and needs to be tried on with care and then to have mine arrive in a non pristine condition as it has obviously been returned. I seldom buy a new wetsuit for myself and when I do I try to look after it from the start. I feel like I'm not really getting the new wetsuit experience really. Slightly disappointing.

Met office treating it's users with contempt

I have already reviewed the new met office app. Like nearly everyone else I gave it 1 star and explained why. Just like all the other hundreds of people who find the new app totally frustrating and hard to use. This review is about the met office response to the feedback. Talk about tin eared. Its almost like a wind up. They keep thanking reviewers for their feedback and acting as though it's a successful upgrade rather than apologising for the total mess up it has turned into. Worst of all they are gaslighting users by repeatedly saying they have listened and they are improving the app when it's never going to be as useable as the previous version no matter how they tinker with it. Its fundamentally a poor front end. If the met office could swallow it's pride they would admit their vock up and create something that worked for users in the same way the old app did. That means something that looks and functions in a very similar way. I do not understand why a business would wreck it's own product and then act like it was a success when customers are walking away.

Downgrade in function and ease of use

Why has the met office removed the hour by hour wind gust Information and replaced it with highest daily gust speed. If they had done any user engagement they would know that a lot of people like sailers, climbers, hill walkers, roofers, need to know if the gusts are going to moderate or worsen from the present. A highest daily gust speed is almost useless if we don't know when it is. Just one of many changes that make this a downgrade.

I spent quite a lot of time wondering where the met office app had gone on my phone before realising they symbol had changed. A bit irritating. Then when I started to use it I realised it had had a major restructuring. A perfectly good and serviceable app that was simple and intuitive to use with clear information layout has been wrecked for no good reason. It is no now harder to see all the info on one screen without having to scroll and click. Upgrades should give better functionality and simpler use. This 'upgrade' has reversed that principle. It's harder to use and gives less functionality. I'm deleting it as I can't be bothered with it.

Poor experience on a £1500 purchase so far.

I bought a bike for £1500 from Decathlon. It arrived with a hole in the box and handlebars and shifters sticking out and cosmetic scuffing to the brake hoods. The brakes don not work properly and need bleeding and part of the front deraileur mechanism is incorrectly fitted. There are two pieces of bike in the box which have not been fitted for some reason. I don't know if they are important. It was poorly packaged for a £1500 item. Maybe Decathlon thinks a bike at that price is not worth packing properly. I have contacted customer service 3 times and each time received an email saying they would respond within 24 hours. So far nothing. I do hope Decathlon can respond to my issues and that we can sort this out. I took a day off for delivery and I cannot afford more time off to drive 2 hours to the nearest Decathlon shop nor spend more time arranging a return. I have to say so far I am very disappointed with the way the product was delivered, a dangerous fault that should have been checked prior to dispatch, and the customer service that so far has been not happened within the time frame specified. I hope that Decathlon will respond to this feedback with some timeliness.

Update: I finally took my new bike to a very good independent bike shop who rectified the issues - they bled the brakes, tightened the bolts holding the brake calliper and centred the brake calliper and generally gave it the once over. I submitted the receipt to Decathlon and they reimbursed me the £40 cost of this. I have therefore upgraded my review to two stars. I think the lesson learned is that if you are buying a budget to medium priced bike from a big online company selling on tight margins you cannot always expect to get a perfectly set up bike. Be prepared to spend a little getting it set up by your local bike shop and be prepared to pay for that service.

I am quite pleased with the bike now but again it is worth considering when you buy a bike at a lower price point (and £1500 to me still seems quite a lot but in the world of bikes it no longer is) that some components will probably need upgrading. I have swapped out the cheap plastic pedals for some Shimano 500s which is another £50, mudguards add another £50 and so on. take the weights given as unrealistic as well. The weight of my bike has increased with the addition of decent pedals etc.

However the GRX groupset and hydraulic brakes are good on a bike at this pricepoint.
