Dyson V11 – premium price but concerns over long term reliability
I purchased a Dyson V11 in November 2023 for £350, choosing Dyson specifically because of its reputation for quality and long term reliability. In December 2025 the vacuum developed an intermittent fault where it would cut out while I was still holding the trigger. This issue occurred repeatedly over a period of more than three weeks and made the vacuum unreliable during normal use.
When I contacted Dyson support in January 2026, we had not started any troubleshooting. I was waiting for the advisor to return to the chat and, while waiting, I began using the vacuum. During that short period the fault did not occur. This was not the result of any troubleshooting, and I made it clear that although the vacuum appeared to work at that moment, the issue had been happening consistently for over three weeks prior.
I confirmed to the advisor that, as the issue appeared to have resolved itself at that time, I would not proceed with replacing the part. The advisor agreed that no replacement was needed at that point, but provided the details of the part should the fault return in future.
I was advised that if the fault did return, a replacement internal part would be required at a cost of £119 as the product is now out of warranty. For a premium vacuum cleaner at this price point, developing this type of fault after just over two years of normal household use raises serious concerns about long term reliability and value for money. The cost of the replacement part represents a significant proportion of the original purchase price.
While the support advisor was polite, this experience has left me disappointed and questioning whether Dyson products still offer the durability and value that the brand reputation suggests.
I have owned Dyson vacuums for many years, which makes this experience particularly disappointing, and has led me to question whether I would choose Dyson again.
