The 4 of us traveling together had the option to create our own group. This allowed us flexibility in working with our guide Steve Pryce, who was excellent in adjusting the length and difficulty of our hikes and making sure we still covered everything planned on our itinerary. Our housing accommodations were excellent and varied as were the meals provided. I highly recommend Wilderness England.

Our guide, Nicola, was invaluable to the success of our Lake District tour. Her knowledge of the footpaths allowed us to maximize our time each moment. Among the most magical hikes were those days we walked from the front door of our hotels to waterfalls and on around Elterwater and another day to Wainright's Castle Crag. Every day and every walk was magical and informative. Nicola's driving was masterful on the narrow, twisty roads with their occasional steep cliffsides. She helped me learn very helpful walking stick techniques. Her enthusiasm and personality added to the overall joy of our group experience. Our accommodations and meals were all enjoyable and well chosen. Nicola was attentive to every detail and to every group member as well. I am recommending Wilderness England to everyone. I cannot imagine a more delightful introduction to the English tradition of walking.

Excellent logistics no problems at all. Also great communication, quick responses to questions. Would definitely recommend.

Tania Deacon our guide had immediate “read” on our group so she knew how best to get us to have a great week.Hearing from pro/cons from other with/without guides what i appreciated by choosing WE as our group only moved hotels twice,we had great transport van, BLD included was sourced by local cafes/restaurant/pubs were all top notch food, &experiences.Tania was transparent around budget without any awkwardness.WE are trail guides not historians which I self corrected yet we all appreciated all the significant/mesningful/historic spots we went except Snowshill Manor,which we felt was a waste of time as it was basically the wares of a hoarder. Instead of snowshill, i would have preferred instead Ditchley, over which was where Churchill stayed during WW2 instead of Bleinhem I would have wanted longer trekking miles but still Tania paced the group so everyone was content. I cannot recommend WE more.Looking forward to other WE. I found experience was 5/5 even though WE advertised things like possibly having to share a hotel room with same sex person travelling in our group. This did not happen at all we all booked in advance our own rooms and got them.I wish they created tours with just Cotswold Way route as well.

My whole trip was perfect. From the Cotswolds walk, to the excellent guide, to the inn and food. It was more than I had hoped for. I think Wilderness England does an amazing job. I will travel with them again.

The Wilderness Group do a fantastic job from start to finish....from pre-trip communications, professional and knowledgeable guides, unique locally authentic accommodations, fabulous food, and by providing travels through beautiful landscapes and culturally interesting locations.

I really enjoyed the recent bike tour through the lovely Cotswolds. It was the first time for this particular tour, apparently, so there were a few wrinkles with logistics and a wrong turn here and there, but nothing that lessened the delight of the tour overall. Most of the accommodations were really lovely. The food was not outstanding for the most part, but it was healthy and snacks were plentiful. Our guides Pete and Judith were lively company, full of great information about the history of the area. They also handled an injury incurred by a rider with care and great aplomb and thoughtfully celebrated another rider's birthday. I'd be happy to ride with them again.

We recently completed your Luxury Highlights of Northern England Tour. It was very well organized with a group of 8 plus our guide and driver-who negotiated those narrow UK roads expertly! Our guide David was extremely knowledgeable and watched out for us as we were the oldest on the trip. If the weather did not cooperate there always was a second plan. The accommodations were very nice and the food was good but there was a lot
of pre ordering days in advance. The trip is really geared to 50,60 and active early 70 year olds. In the brochure it was classified as a moderate green trip but we did walk
8 miles on some rough terrain with some altitude gain so it was challenging for people our age. Maybe that should be
stressed more??

Our vacation with Wilderness England was very nice. Rides were nice, guides were exceptional and the accommodations were good. Many thanks for the fond memories.

Gorgeous and varied scenery, excellent hotels, fantastic leader, lovely group of people, beautiful walks, very well-organized.

It would have been 5 stars except the lodging the last 2 days of the trip was not good. The hotel rooms were cramped, the staff acted like they didn’t want us there, multiple items on the menu were not available and the location was out of town on the main highway leading to a lot of noise making it difficult to sleep.
Overall the biking, scenery, and guides were great. The riding mixed challenging climbing, and rolling terrain. The other hotels were excellent, the food and rooms outstanding. It was a shame the last place left such a bad impression for the trip.

Jessie was a wonderful guide, she made everything easy. I loved walking in beautiful England. I appreciated Jessie sharing her knowledge of the place and its geology.

This small group trip exposed me to a part of the world I would not have otherwise visited, including the vast number of breeding seabirds birds, North Sea ecology, towns and villages, and geography of the east coast of Britain. The group leader was knowledgeable, friendly, smart, and had a sense of humor that made it easy for everyone to relax and enjoy the trip. The sights, accommodations, food, and transportation were all top notch!

The guide was generous in sharing local knowledge about the area. It was easy to see that the guide enjoyed the trip as much as the participants. The guide modified the itinerary to meet participant's needs or due to weather considerations as necessary. The areas we hiked were beautiful and the inclusion of cultural sites such as the mines, Lyme Park, Dove Cottage, and Brantwood Estate kept the trip varied and interesting. On the whole, the accommodations were unique and very comfortable. An overall great experience that I would not hesitate to recommend to others.

Wilderness England did everything right with our 6-day e-bike tour through the Cotswold area. Our guides were attentive, fun, and knowledgeable(thank you Simon and Keith), the routes were gorgeous through the countryside and villages, and the food was always great. To sum it up, my husband and I loved this past vacation with Wilderness England so much that we started planning our next biking adventure with them even before we arrived back home.

For my daughter (age 20) and I, this trip was the perfect combination of the beautiful English countryside and the staggering Roman history and archaeology literally everywhere. It was an inspiring experience from start to finish. Yes, the weather cooperated for the most part, but it was the patience, kindness, humor and expertise of Jo Roberts our Guide that truly made the trip. One of the other guests had some health concerns, as I'm sure you're aware, and Jo had to do some improvising. So my daughter and I essentially had a private tour for half the trip, very special. And Jo was able to arrange a side trip to Vindolanda which was unscheduled but became a high point. She also managed to incorporate my love of castles and churches at every opportunity. She even went back and found my daughter's phone which she'd dropped outside an inn! And she nursed my blistered toes, truly going above and beyond! Add in the really wonderful lodging and the consistently great food (all 3 meals) and you had just a remarkably satisfying and unforgettable adventure. Thanks to all involved, but especially you Jo.
