I went to buy compost which was on a good offer. I knew I couldn’t manage to put 6 bags in the car by myself so asked before buying them if someone could help. Pranitha who was on the checkout said she would do it. She couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant and got the bags in the back of the car. Without her help I would not have been able to buy the compost. Great customer service and very much appreciated.

We had an appointment with the architect, Monika Wutcen. She was friendly and professional, explaining the various options available in a calm and unhurried manner, and outlining the advantages and disadvantages of each solution (including price, durability of materials, and so forth).
She was also incredibly patient, as we repeatedly changed our minds, even towards the very end of the meeting. She went the extra mile by dedicating more time than originally planned (one hour).
We are particularly pleased with her service, as this is our very first home and even the smallest details are important to us.

2 days prior our time was moved from 11 to 10, which was fine.
Met our designer, chatted, he then said he needed to make a call and abandoned us, came back 10 minutes later, showed him our pick but I was confused as it said it was gloss and the sample was matt, he said it comes in matt and took us to his desk. All 3 of us squeezed round it. Took our measurements and then questioned if they were correct twice. Took my phone with pictures and left it on his side of the desk. Designed the kitchen but didn’t ask us for input on anything he put in. Designed the exact same kitchen I had in a different colour which is not what I wanted. Tried to save it and deleted the whole thing. Had to sit while he redid the whole thing. People behind us were offered coffee which we weren’t. Trying to save the 2nd one and there was issues, he then tried to call his colleague and multiple times couldn’t get through. Still couldn’t get design to save. Left and spoke to manager and realised our choice has been discontinued and is no longer an option. Massive waste of my time.

Pranitha at the Edinburgh store was so patient and helpful! Lovely person and a credit to the company. Look after her!

I was in Wickes today and Mithilsh was helping me with a question about an item for my new house Wickes didn’t stock it so he was using his phone to show me where I could buy it from another store when another customer interrupted us and was being really annoying for no reason he handled it really well stayed calm and polite the whole time and still gave me great customer service just wanted to say thanks and recoginse him for how proffesional he was

Visited Wickes in Stevenson Road, Edinburgh today. Outstanding service from Raj , an employee in the store . I asked him where I could find sand and top soil and not only did he tell me where to find it but he appeared at the top soil and helped me load the heavy bags into my trolley then fetched me a black bag to put over a damaged bag. I continued shopping and once I had paid Raj appeared again to load the bags into my car . I really appreciated the help and wanted Wickes to know that Raj is a credit to the company.

I bought a Bosch Rotak 18-34 cordless lawnmower this morning from your store in Edinburgh and was served by Pranitha. Not only was she very helpful and pleasant, she even carried the mower to my car.

Very disappointed in my attempts to place an order with this company. The materials I needed were on offer which was great. I noted that there appeared to be restrictions on delivery to my post code so I phoned to check. It took me three calls as customer services were pretty useless in dealing with my enquiry I did eventually speak to someone in the store who assured me they do deliver to my post code and there was plenty of the item I wanted in stock so I went on line to place my order. When I got to the checkout I was told it was out of stock. Another phone call to the store to be told they had stock but the delivery firm they used don’t deliver to my address (although Wickes does deliver here!)
I asked if the item could be delivered to the store and delivered to me from there and I would pay additional delivery costs. Nope. They suggested I collect them! These are 2000 mm bitumen coated roof panels and I am in my 70s.
I was told I could make a complaint and they would send me the email address. 24 hours later I am still waiting. Meanwhile I have used a local firm. More expensive but helpful and courteous. Will be buying locally from now on.

They had all the items that I needed and are one of the few DIY stores in Edinburgh where you can get plaster. Bhav, the store assistant, was very helpful in finding all the items on my list.

I would like to leave a special mention for Bob at Wickes Edinburgh, who was extremely helpful and supportive throughout what became a more complicated bathroom installation than expected.

It is worth explaining the context. Wickes operate a model where they recommend a contractor to carry out the fitting work, but the contractor is a separate business and Wickes does not take direct responsibility for managing that relationship. This can create challenges because all communication and project management sits with the contractor, and where issues arise the process can become difficult, particularly when the project is being coordinated from a central location rather than managed locally.

In this case, the contractor took a very long time to complete what was ultimately a very basic and low cost bathroom installation. Communication and coordination were not always straightforward, and it was frustrating at times trying to get issues resolved.

However, Bob was a real positive in the process. When there were few others at Wickes willing or able to take ownership, Bob stepped in as a point of contact and did what he could to help move things forward. He listened, understood the problems, provided support and showed genuine commitment to helping achieve a satisfactory outcome.

The Wickes installation model does have its challenges, but people like Bob make a significant difference. His attitude, professionalism and willingness to help were greatly appreciated, and he is a credit to the Wickes Edinburgh team. It’s a pity to learn that he’s leaving the team in Edinburgh.
