I was sold a shoe that wasn’t right for me. Had to repeatedly go back and Alex the managers solution was that I went to a podiatrist. After care is not what they advertise. No empathy, no apology

The service is excellent and they spent a lot of time trying to find a solution for my problem feet. Unfortunately the solution hasn’t worked for me in real world conditions, my left Achilles is hurting after a couple of miles, but nevertheless I would recommend the shop to anyone as the care and attention is light years ahead of that found in other walking gear shops.

Needed new boots as my old ones were a little too heavy . I had a fitting with Aggie who was absolutely wonderful. Aggie took her time measuring my feet for a perfect fit of boots. She was very knowledgeable and reassured me every step of the way . I would 💯 recommend Whalley Warm &Dry . You only get one pair of feet 🦶

Aggie fitted our boots .. she was fabulous. Shame about the person who greeted us on arrival. Hopefully she was having an off day rather than that being her normal attitude.

Only rated 5 stars as there isn't an option for 10 stars. This is my second time visiting W&D and again dealt with Sam who yet again delivered an amazing service that was beyond what anyone could expect. Not only did he manage to easily titivate my 14 month old boots making them feel like a new pair. He took so much care and time setting up my new pair of boots for a customer with so many special requirements. Yet again Sam and W&D delivered such a bespoke service, and nothing seemed like it was too much trouble. A customer for life, highly recommend W&D for your next boots. Thank you so much.

Outstanding service from everyone, especially Sam. Nothing was too much trouble. Tailored sizing of comfortable hiking boots for my extra wide feet was made even better with specific insole types and lacing strategies. Why didn't I come here before? I had an appointment with Aggie who carefully measured my feet (sitting and standing) and took account of all my issues (extra wide feet, bunions, dropped arches and a pinned toe) to select footwear for me to try. The chosen shoes were stretched in the required places and insoles added to suit my awkward feet. Also given great advice on how to tie laces to avoid putting pressure on my bunions.

A brilliant personal service and wonderful to now have comfortable walking shoes after enduring so much foot pain. I will be returning for more footwear.

No wonder people travel hundreds of miles to this amazing shop.

I have been a regular long distance walker for many years but was close to 'retirement' due to recurring foot issues that were making the experience more painful than enjoyable. Outstanding service here to provide me with a pair of customised boots has me raring to go to get back out on the hills. Thank you Aggie!

I wanted to replace my old Berghaus walking boots. So booked a fitting at Whalley Warm and Dry.
My fitter was Stuart, who obviously knew his stuff. We took about an hour to go through the fitting process and with me coming out the other end with a pair of Altberg Tethera boots.
Stuart wasn't pushy in any way but pointed me in the right direction. So I have a great pair of boots and they fit really well.
I will certainly shop there again. And thank you Stuart. I've done about 30 miles in the boots and they are everything I hoped for.

Been using Whalley Warm and Dry for years, always an amazing experience especially with my awkward feet! I am an extra wide fit and struggled to find boots that wouldn't crush my monster munch feet! I went home with a pair of Meindl Sarn boots (a size bigger than I thought I was)! Thanks to all the helpful staff at Whalley Warm and Dry

Excellent service from Aggie. We live near the Altburg factory and usually buy from there, but going forward I will driving the extra 90 minutes each way to go the Whalley.

Absolutely incredible service from Aggie!
She is so knowledgeable and provides a very warm, friendly and professional service. Being 6 months post ankle fracture I wasn’t sure about how a fitting would go. Aggie listened to my concerns and was really encouraging that I was doing well!
The foot measurement was very thorough and I was given an excellent range of boots to try all of which were fitted competently. I chose a pair of Altberg’s which were very different to ones I would have picked unaided - even more proof that getting professionally measured and fitted is so important.
I learned so much about how to correctly lace my boots and the after care. The appointment was unhurried and at no time did I feel pressure to purchase anything.
Once I’d made my decision Aggie was able to customise my right boot to make allowances for the post fracture swelling so they are even comfier.
I cannot recommend their service highly enough and I’m so excited to get out on the hills in my new footwear safe in the knowledge they are the right choice for my feet.

Huge range of quality boots from this independent seller. Book a fitting and you will have an expert measure your feet, find the right boots for you and fit them properly to your feet by using insoles and stretching (if needed).

We found this retailer through a fellow trekker. Both of us are keen walkers and hill climbers but have feet that require specialist footwear and had failed to find anywhere that actually provided a comprehensive boot fitting service. Their knowledge and experience meant that we both walked away with exact walking boots we needed. Needless to say, that was our first visit and we have been back several times over the years. We would be hard pushed to find this calibre of service anywhere else in the country and can't recommend them highly enough. After many failed attempts at trying to get boots that fit, many so called reputable outlets just wanted a sale & offered poor fitting service & bad advice.
I called by WWD, what a revelation, feet measured properly, foot shape analysed & recommendations made. The suggested boots were spot on, if need be they will manipulate the boots to relieve pressure points.
Yes they are more expensive than other outlets but you do get what you pay for. Thoroughly recommend. I’ll be back…….

Went to Whalley Warm and Dry, and what a great experience. Booked a foot measuring service, and wow...John was so knowledgeable and his service was brilliant. I would thoroughly recommend this shop, for service, variety of stock, and most of all their expert knowledge and advice.

Staff are extremely knowledgeable about the products they offer, and they have a fantastic range in stock.
