If I could give them 0 stars I would. My dog has aggression anxiety at the vets due to past trauma. I took him to the Veterinary Hospital on Newport a year ago with an eye issue for the vet to look at him from the other side of the room despite him being muzzled and essentially say he’s fine… they then charged me a £60 consultation fee despite no adequate consultation taking place.
A year later his eye issue worsened so I booked an emergency appointment for him to be sedated for a proper examination, instead they once again looked at him from the other side of the room and told me they were too busy with other animals to sedate him and to take some sedative tablets overnight and return the following day, and once again they attempted to charge me for that ‘consultation’. I refused to pay only to be told by management that “it is not our fault we cannot get close enough to properly examine the dog”, however I would argue it is not my dogs fault you are too understaffed to sedate him to examine. I left without paying and took him to a different vets and low and behold the dog was thoroughly and properly examined, by a lovely vet on her hands and knees, he was given multiple medications for an issue I was told was not a concern a year prior by the veterinary hospital and all for less money than the veterinary hospital had attempted to charge me not once but TWICE. I would advise everybody against this lazy and understaffed vets but particularly anybody with animals that have anxiety, behavioural struggles or vet trauma. All animals deserve good healthcare, not just the easy ones. Save your money and go elsewhere.

We would like to thank Carolyn and the team at the Veterinary Hospital Newport for the care and compassion that they have given Luca during his recent relapse of SRMA and Pancreatitis.

Carolyn has been there to reassure and answer questions whilst providing Luca with the best possible care and providing him with the required medication.

Luca is a complex case and Carolyn has during the last 4 years that we have been with the Veterinary Hospital, provided the expert on going care required and gone over and above, phoning on a regular basis to check on his recovery.

The Veterinary Hospital have always been able to accommodate us with an appointment when required, having the added benefit of being able to attend Skellingthorpe Practice too.

In terms of cost, The Veterinary Hospital always try to keep the costs to a minimum with their medication and treatment, we have previously had experience with other Practices of having to pay extortionate costs for this treatment.

Credit where credit is due, we highly recommend The Veterinary Hospital and promote the Practice whenever the opportunity arises, we have friends that are now receiving the excellent care from Carolyn and her Team.

I once had trust and faith in The veterinary

I do not sadly anymore the veterinary hospital used to be a good vets, but it’s changed for the worse not the better.

They have been giving out incorrect dosing and not following the veterinary medicines legislation regarding controlled drugs/ dosage is a very concerning matter it cost a dogs life.

Many of the clients of the veterinary hospital have said they have left to protect their family pets one place an animal should be safe is with a vets.

Some but not all but enough are not very approachable and quite abrupt and sarcastic I would say, it does not set a good standard for the veterinary hospital and management are simply not interested!

Many of the staff have left and are working in other practice, they continued to have the staff involved in wrong doing / negligence.

I can’t recommend The veterinary hospital as failings of protocol and them not coming out and being open and honest instead they push it under the carpet.

Please if you value your pets look for another vet plenty are around, AVOID

Have been with this vet many years , best vets around, both our fur babies go there, recently our Bichon had an op and the care was second to none.
The staff are friendly helpful thorough and informative and wouldn’t take our babies anywhere else

The vet hospital used to be a good vets sadly lot of things have changed for the worse.

There are many problems with reception they can be utterly rude and unfriendly and not greatly approachable, I’ve heard them take about clients.

The vets are usually great but in my experience they drag things out longer than needed and the animal suffers.

The cost of the treatment compared to other vet practices and ones with hospital status is incredibly high double the price.

Directors don’t take complaints seriously and brush them under the carpet.

Many of the staff have left I would say the good ones.

Also they had overdosed a women’s dog due to not following the guidelines set up to keep pets safe the dog was given x10 the amount and unfortunately the nurse is believed to be still with them today the lady had a court case and was brave enough to share it on Socail media.

A high level of client came across this post and shared they experiences which where not good and many people have registered with a new vet

This independent veterinary hospital maintained and cared for my senior dog over several years. This included an emergency when my dog had a deep cut to her rear leg. On arrival she was treated immediately. Sadly over the past two years Roxy became ill with pancreatitis and then finally an abdominal tumour that invaded her liver. After her pancreatic treatment Roxy recovered surprisingly well and continued with a good quality of life based on the diet and regime recommended by the vet. When suddenly Roxy declined with cancer all was carefully explained including options.

I’ve used the VH for all my pets for many years. The service is always excellent- I feel they really care about my pets and explain all the options for their care very clearly to me.

The VH have been looking after my pets for over 10 years and I am so grateful for the expert care they have received by the whole team in this time. I highly recommended VH and have friends who travel out of their own towns and villages to use the practice because of the knowledgable, specialist staff who go out of their way to offer the best veterinary care available. Most recently, they went above and beyond to see my dog at very short notice after she took a turn for the worse late on in the day and I had been at work. She was able to be seen and treated and made comfortable very quickly. I am also really impressed with the prescription delivery service. It makes it so easy for me to keep up to date with the monthly flea, worm and allergy treatment for my cat and dog. Keep being amazing Team VH, your patients and their owners are extremely grateful for all you do!

If I could give a 0 star I would!

My dog was presented to these vets very poorly. Trusting them after being at the practice for 30 years through family, having their pets there and me being an adult having all my pets there, I thought he was in the best hands, I couldn't have been more wrong! No one could give me an answer as to what was wrong with my dog, they just said the best thing would be to put him to sleep. Well I got a second opinion luckily! After having treatment with a different vet, my dog was back to his normal, happy, healthy, bouncy self after just 6 days. He did not need putting to sleep, he needed treatment from a vet that actually knew what they were doing. Seems like if they don't know, they just put to sleep. I will never ever trust them again!

I visited the Veterinary Hospital at Skellingthorpe Lincoln today 31st August for the first time with my dog with an opintment for 09.45am , upon arrival which I was 15mins early I was greeted and that was that.
My dog was Barking at another dog as they do which immediately sent the staff into complete ignorance mode.
09.45 am came and went as one appointment over ran by 15mins, the receptionist didn't bother to tell us of this delay , I may as well being invisible.
When we did finally get in to see the Vet, she made no effort to calm my dog prior to his Booster injection, she did not check his eyes ,ears or general health. When she attempted to inject him the needle was to to large for a small Jack Russell, it was more appropriate for an elephant.
In all our consultation took 3mins and £55.
Needless to say I will not be returning and I will be advising everyone I know to Avoid at all cost

We'll definitely be going back. The staff were so welcoming and friendly towards us. Can't recommend this vets enough.
