Amazing Tours in Athens and Istanbul
My wife and I worked with Venture Ashore during our Seaborn Athens to Istanbul cruise this summer. Truly first-class guides - Antigoni in Athens; Ekran in Istanbul. We experienced both destinations in ways that we would not have found from a standard cruise excursion - hidden gems of churches and mosques; a 5-star Michelin-rated restaurant off the beaten path in Istanbul, amazing shopping that usually only locals find, and VIP treatment at every stop in our tours. On top of that, the logistics and coordination were flawless. Can't recommend high enough. Just an amazing experience. Thank you Venture Ashore team!

Left high and dry when we ventured ashore
April 2025
We booked a fabulous cruise to Hawaii earlier this year with a helicopter trip to be a very special treat on Kauai Island with Venture Ashore. We paid £594.54 for our two tickets for a Delux Waterfall Flight of the island. We had been given exact instructions where we had to meet our transportation for the trip once we disembarked our ship. We waited and waited. No one came to collect us. We re-boarded our ship and made many phone calls to resolve this problem. Eventually having got through to someone, we were told we had to make our own way there and that they did not pick passengers up from ships any more. I actually had all the paperwork saying they would pick us up. Our final day on what would have been a fabulous trip was so disappointing. We never managed to see any of the island as all the trips had by this time gone. On return from our holiday, I contacted my credit card company (for which I had paid for the trip) who were very helpful. Nevertheless, Venture Ashore's reply was that we were not entitled to a refund as we were a 'no show'. I sent all the emails through to my credit card company - showing clearly that they said they would pick up. Finally, this matter has been resolved and I have my refund but nothing can put right the disappointment we felt on that last day of our cruise of Hawaii.

Mixed Ventura
The evening entertainment in the theatre was superb .
The entertainment after 11.00pm was very average . Only one bar had something happening and then to 11.30 only . The entertainment structure was lacking .
The catering staff and kitchen staff, serving staff were of a very good standard .
The boat had a lack of activities especially during sea days .
The resident Headliners group was outstanding . Visiting acts including a Dutch band trio were very entertaining.
The Ventura only had 2 tenders for around approximately 2000 folk wanting to get ashore in Guernsey. Waiting time both ways was excessive.
Cleaning staff were excellent.
Enjoyed the cruise , 🚢 requires upgrading .

Charming Tour Guides
I took 2 tours with Venture Ashore: 1 in Puerto Plata, the Dominican Republic and 1 in Philipsburg, St. Martin. Both tour guides were excellent. They were personable, respectful, knowledgeable and lots of fun! Both tours were great!

We took two tours with Venture Ashore, Rome, Italy (6-18), and Cannes, France (6-21). I can’t say “thank you” enough for the wonderful and knowledgeable drivers we had. Both of these tours were private ones and they were fabulous. Our driver in Rome surprised us and took us to places we didn’t even know about, plus he was able to get us to the places we wanted to see. He also took us to a restaurant that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our Cannes driver took us all over as well and told us and showed us the sites. I won’t be using anyone besides Venture Ashore anymore. You really did a phenomenal job! We only had so much time (we were on a cruise), but we saw A LOT during both tours. Thank you again!

Great time in Cozumel!
the excursions are the same or better than available on the cruise lines. they offer same guarantee to be returned to the cruise ship prior to departure. in 2025 we did the Cozumel open air bus ride around town, visit downtown (some walking & shopping). next stop was Mayan experience. sampled some tequila (don't buy any- it's too expensive). last stop was at a roadside cafe on the coast (rocky, not sand). had a strong rum drink in a hand cut coconut. pickup was fine. excursion was as described. our experience has been having a great guide, someone we could talk with, ask questions and laugh with.

Small group tours in Asia from the Millennium were excellent! Easy pickup and only 8 people total really made it a standout. Really nice guide. Highly recommended.

We took 4 private tours across Greece and Turkey from our cruise. Pickups were convenient at the port and the drivers were professional and fun. Loved being able to do what we wanted. Well worth it for our family!

Five excursion trip
Had a total of 5 excursions on our recent trip. The excursion to Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace was a disaster. The pick up was late, arrived at Buckingham Palace while the activities were already in progress, actually missed most of the activity. Then transferred via coach to Westminster Abbey
The driver could not operate the air conditioning on the bus as we sat in gridlocked traffic. The driver not only didn’t know where he was going but wasn’t familiar with the equipment. In fact, most of us did not return on the coach, instead walking the short distance. Very disappointed. The other excursions were wonderful.

Total shambles
Iceland, hour wait in cold/rain for pick up, contact no. not recognised, so emailed. Reply was quick, time had been changed to 1 hour later, ineffective communication for those on ship with no internet, pick up points need Google pin or what3 words, chaotic change over to another coach. 2nd day no show for pick up. Another tour cancelled with inadequate notice. So disappointing. Will not use this company again but go through official cruise ship tours where pick up directly at port.

The start time had been changed to 1 hour later, we had tried to contact you prior, via email and telephone to inform you of this, unfortunately these messages did not get through to you due to you being at sea.
Regarding the second day’s late cancellation of another tour, we take full responsibility and regret the disruption this caused to your plans. This is not the level of service we aim to provide, and we are investigating internally to ensure it does not happen again.
We appreciate your honest review — even when it’s difficult to hear — as it helps us improve. While we regret that we didn’t meet your expectations this time, we hope you’ll see these changes reflected if you decide to travel with us again in the future.
A few glitches in the works
Most tours were great (London,Norway,Iceland). However 2 tours come to mind that at were not so pleasant. Buckingham Palace,London…..bus transport to within about 2 blocks of palace. Then walk the rest of the way. It has been our experience that the guide on a walking tour always carries an identifying item (flag, umbrella). Our guide had nothing. The crush of people was incredible & we were separated from our group. Ended up walking back toward our hotel & taking Hop-on/Hop-off. Another occasion in Iceland touring Akureyri, it appeared that every tour bus in the city went to every site at the same time. Another crush of people which also impacted use of restrooms. Don’t know how this could be resolved but was less than enjoyable. Otherwise all good.

Thank you for your review of your groups tours and shore excursions in London and Iceland... Your feedback for the London tour has been noted and we will work with our guides so they are easier to find in crowded situations. And yes, some of the sites in Iceland do get very busy on cruise ship days. We try to start our days earlier to get to them before the cruise line tours get there - but your ship had a later arrival (9am) which required us to go there at the same time the ship tours were. We are glad you still had a great time and hope to have you on our tours again real soon.
Total waste of time and money !
Couldn't find your rep to collect pre paid tickets. no point of contact other traders didn;t know where you where wandering back and forth for half hour in rain. other local trader gave us free tickets for their bus tours. we will never recommend your company, and it was expensive too as we paid. in advance prior to cruise travel.

The experience of visiting Green Gables…
The experience of visiting Green Gables on Prince Edward Island was disappointing. It was described as a private group tour. Instead, we were dropped off to wander on our own. There was little to see or do, and no context. The best part was that we were able to travel in a smaller van.

Celibruty summit Alaskan cruise excursion
I had a group of 16 and was given a person named Joy to work with to reserve excursions for the group BARR FAMILY. It went great until she left and although I asked there was never a replacement. I finished the arrangements on my own. Your excursion Triple Yukon Combo Tour on June 18 from Skagway was the worst Excursion with my family members that I ever took. The driver said from the beginning that he was not going to tell us about the area but just give us his personal stories and lots of photo ops. He did that and even took us on a road that was closed.
