Bought Butterhead lettuce seed recently
Mature heads are what I would describe as Oak Head lettuce ,not what is displayed on pack.
Not sure if safe to eat ?

I bought Unwins seeds today, Courgettes £2.99, packed this year. Seeds loose in pack (a surprise in itself) which says approximate seeds 8. There were only 6! I make that 25% under! Not impressed.

Bought 12 packets of various Unwin seeds,from my local garden centre in Sheffield,at a cost of approx £34.After following packet instructions,looked after them and regularly watered them in my conservatory.I was disappointed that the no of seeds were much less than described.2 of the packets seemed ok and many seedlings appeared,but the majority only a few appeared and 3 nothing at all.Very disappointed, so reported back to garden centre who appolagised, but told me to complain to yourselves.I am reading other reviews,and think it may be a waste of time to complain, however I will persue in due course,and report to trading standards,as the product is not fit for purpose.Very embarrassing also for the garden centre also,as he is Unwins representative!

Bought 8 packs between vegetable and flowers at £1.50 a pack, 1 flowers 💐 pack had only 5 seeds and pepper 🌶 chille demon red was empty. Would not buy from them again or Marshall which seems to come up on any search.

Bought a packet of mini cucumber seeds for £3.99, foil pack inside contained just FOUR seeds, £1 each!! Also courgette seeds, they weren't even in a foil pack, just loose inside the packet, 5 of those for £2.99. There was no indication on either packet as to how many seeds were supposed to be in there. I have emailed Unwins (who seem to be part of Marshalls Seeds now) and await a reply as to how they can possibly justify charging so much for so few seeds.

I purchased a lack of Urwins American giant Sunflower seeds costing £2.99. Out of 12 seeds only 7 have germinated. Out of the 7 that have grown 5 are showing warped and diseased leaves. I am very disappointed with them as they arn't the cheapest suppliers of seeds.

I brought a packet of Zinna seeds this week approximately 20 per packet there were only 13 thats just not good enough

I see other gardeners have had poor numbers of seeds in packet. However, I can beat that! Just opened packet of Leek Stamford F1 and there wasn’t a SINGLE seed inside. Won’t buy Unwins again. Seed packets are expensive.

Bought Unwins tomato seed 'Shirley'F1 for €4.99 from Newlands garden centre in Ireland. Approximate seed count on packet = 15. Contents 7 - and they look pretty dodgy at that! We'll see.
Also bought Gardeners Delight (cherry), this had the full complement.
Silly and miserable thing to do. Won't bother them again.

Update! 'Phoned them the same day I sent this. They sent me a new packet 10 days later - no charge.
Good response.

There seems to be no customer service. At the hight of the pandemic a number of plants arrived in bad condition. Not a disaster but repeated emails have gone unanswered and unacknowledged. Total frustration! They are part of Marshalls. Two companies who can save on sending me catalogues and emails and put the savings towards better service.

Bought a packet ofUnwins runner bean Tenderstar packed year ending 07/20. Germinated well. Well manured ground, watered and feed. Good looking fed and white flowers. Problem the bean pods bulb up at 100mm and have a brown line running down one edge. The beans are very tough and taste bitter. I decided to only cook the very best of the pods which is about 30%. If l boil them for 35 - 40 minutes they are just about edible. Do not purchase them or accept any freebies as they are rubbish. I have grown all types of runner beans for 40+ years and these are definitely the worst ever bean. Paid £2.99. I will never purchase Unwins crap seeds again.

Brought a scatter and grow collection pack which included jammie dodgers sunflowers. The sunflowers don't look like the picture on the packet at all, quite disappointed

I purchased a Canna Stuttgart Rhizome from Unwins back in March. It arrived and has grown (but very small for a canna). But the main issue is its not a Canna Stuttgart ! The plant i wanted has distintive pale green and white leaves. The one I have has boring plain green/brown leaves. I have emailed Unwins twice but as yet have not had a reply.

Well, seeing that Unwins haven't bothered to reply to anyone since 9th April, I'm not holding out any hope of a response (even the repetitive bog standard one used at least 3 times already).

I bought a packet of Nasturtium for £2.49, supposedly for an average of 30 seeds. Reality was 10 seeds and not one seedling.

Havent bought online so cant comment there. How ever I can say after trying t&m and mr fothergills unwins seeds were by far the choice, iv now solely used unwins seeds for 3 years with great results . not had any issues with germination, plant growth or fruiting. Granted my peppers got destroyed by mosaic virus, but that's just bad luck and aphids nothing to do with the product. Would deffinatley reccomend

bought a packet of rhs awarded runner beans [moonlight] self pollinating seeds for £3.00 with best b4 date of 09/2022 batch code blank sowed indoors last week of april have cared and looked after and the plants themselves look amazing they have all started to flower and die off with nothing to show deverstated is an understatement

I bought a pack of Chard seeds which said on it Approximate seed number 100. I counted 64 and that being very generous as many of them looked more like shavings off the factory floor than seeds. At a cost of nearly £ 3 I think the value and advertising was very poor.

I bought a packet of Unwins Courgette Zucchini F1 from Marshalls. All little plants shrivelled up and died. Have sent 2 messages to Marshalls, but no reply. Can I have a refund of £2.49 please.

I was unable to shop due to lockdown so a family member purchased a packet of Pepper (sweet) lunchbox mix at the end of April/beginning of May. The bottom panel on the reverse of the packet was blank with no Ending, Seeds or Batch Code so I was not overpleased when the contents was 6 seeds at a cost of £2.99 ( almost 50p per seed) and I was even more disappointed when not one germinated consequently no sweet peppers in the greenhouse this year. Your comments would be welcome.

I oredered 3 calibrachoa plants on Easter sunday 2 months later nothing had arrived. I tried to cancel the order but was told they were in the process of sending them. What actually arrived was 12 "plugs" of plants that were almost dead. I have planted them but only expect 2 to survive. This lot cost me £27 which is outrageous. I wish I had read these reviews before ordering.
