Transparent Communications is a leading UK supplier of IT, AV and networking hardware, providing products from leading brands including Draytek, Drobo, Netgear, Epson, Casio, Samsung, Smart and Acer. The company was founded in 2002 as a family business based in South Wales and specialised largely in a range of communications equipment including phones and bluetooth headsets. Over the coming years Transparent steered itself more to the business line of products such as routers, switches, IP phones/cameras and network storage (NAS) devices aswell as moving premises to Oxfordshire. After a successful acquistion of the company in Jan 2011 by brothers Steven and Richard Warwick, the company was moved again to the outskirts of Portsmouth on the South Coast and has experienced dramatic growth, culminating in the launch of a brand new web-site and an expansion in its range of products from 4,500 to over 40,000 products. Despite the current difficult economic climate Transparent has continued to enjoy success and growth over the past 12 months making us well placed to continuing offer great value and service to our customers throughout 2012 and beyond. Great team, quick delivery, ideal product

I spoke to Kaya, a member of the Transparent team on the phone, she was able to advise me on an item suitable for my requirements, at a reasonable price point too. She even made a specific package deal and uploaded it to the website for me. The item arrived the next day, and is working perfectly.

Really helpful and quick to provide a quote for some touch screens and receipt printers for our cafe. Products arrived promptly and we've been very happy with them.

I bought a scanner from this company…


I bought a scanner based on their website claim that it scans “artworks with detail.” After testing, I found it unsuitable for my artwork needs and learned from a professional that I’d need a higher-resolution model.
I requested a return within 14 days, but the company refused a full refund, even though I handled the item carefully and returned it in perfect condition with undamaged packaging.
They ignored my legal right to cancel under UK distance selling laws and tried to charge a fee. Extremely disappointing. I tried to resolve it fairly but was met with poor customer care.

Thank you for your review, though we are disappointed to see your comments are not accurate.
To clarify for others reading:
The scanner you purchased was correctly advertised as being designed for high-performance scanning of documents, journals, books, and fragile items. At no point did the listing claim it was “best for artists” or specifically designed for high-resolution fine art scanning.

The key issue here, as you have acknowledged, is that your dissatisfaction with the scanner arose only after you purchased and used the product, and subsequently discussed your requirements with a third party. It is now clear that your expectations exceed the technical specifications of the item, particularly regarding resolution for high-detail artwork scanning.

You initially asserted that the scanner was misrepresented or mis-sold. However, the product listing does not imply suitability for high-resolution art reproduction. The advertised description is explicit:
“High-performance A3 flatbed for capturing large bound or fragile documents. Enjoy a seamless scanning operation with Plustek OpticPro A320E providing greater versatility and precision when scanning journals, fragile documents and books.”

This description is accurate and does not suggest that the scanner is specifically designed for fine-art reproduction or high-end artistic use. The device provides up to 800 DPI, as clearly stated in the technical specifications, and performs exactly in line with this.

The unit you returned had been fully unboxed, set up, and used, which goes beyond what is considered “reasonable inspection” under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. As allowed by law, we applied a diminished value deduction due to the item no longer being in new condition and unable to be resold as such.

You were not refused a return – in fact, we issued a return authorisation (RMA) and offered the return in full compliance with your statutory rights. The restocking fee reflects loss in resale value, and return postage is the customer’s responsibility unless the item is faulty (which it was not).
We are committed to fairness and transparency, and have clearly explained this in writing multiple times.

We’re sorry the scanner didn’t meet your specific resolution needs, but the product performs exactly as advertised and complies with all relevant consumer laws. We always aim for a fair outcome and regret that you feel otherwise.

Disgusting

Disgusting ! Bought a pc power supply 3 months ago and the item just died. I spoke with them about warranty and they sent me to Asus and Asus back to the place from where I bought the item. Still waiting just for a call from them, not just to refund my money back

SCAM - WONT REFUND £700 ORDER AFTER CANCELLATION

I placed an order on 24th May for £754 which was then cancelled on 1st June prior to dispatch. I was then informed the refund would be processed asap.
More than 6 months later i still DO NOT have my refund or my goods and they refuse to respond to any of my emails. I have emailed on multiple occasions to chase my refund with no response. SCAM company AVOID at all costs.

HI, this review is untrue, a refund has been processed.. You will need to contact to your bank if any issues. I will say you kept emailing in under different names and different email addresses so it may be worth checking all of those email accounts before you start saying companies who have been around for over 20 years are trying to scam customers. We will report this review as its completely untrue

Really impressed with the supporting customer care

Really impressed - I placed an order for the last item in stock which was actually unavailable; I was really impressed with the comms from the company letting me know via email that item was out of stock and giving the option to wait whilst it was back order or cancel the order.
I just felt the situation was dealt with really professionally by the company. The item arrived from back order and was sent out much earlier than the due date I was provided.
The experience means I will check the company before checking other suppliers as I appreciated the excellent customer service approach! Thank you!

Polite customer service but declined my…

Polite customer service but declined my order without any attempt to make things right due to an error in their internal system that showed a lower price on my end. Missed out on a second-best deal for the component because of that, which is a bummer. May be less risky to pay slightly more but go with a tried and tested supplier.

Not to be trusted! If you order... screenshot everything!

I ordered a mid-range Viewsonic monitor. I was sent a value range monitor with a different SKU. When I pointed this out, they fist suggested I was confused. After disabusing them of any idea that the confusion was on my end with my order and shipping confirmation emails, they blamed a problem in their system and offered a return. So far, they are refusing to fulfill my order in good faith. The page I ordered from appears to have gone through a few edits in the time since I've ordered. The URL path still refers to the mid-range monitor I ordered, but the content has changed to market the value range monitor. I find this to be a little suspicious.

Minus 5 stars from me. Total amateurs!

If I could give them -5* I would. Ordered 2 Gaming PC Cases because they have extra £20 off from nearest competitor. Paid extra £10 for next day delivery. No email updates, no items arrived even after 3 working days. Rang them, they said they had an offer on them and the system glitched and the order is 'stuck'. Was told I'll get an update if they can get the cases sent out at the promo price or will be refunded. 2 weeks later still no update. Now I will have to chase them again for the third time! Avoid at all cost. Not worth the headache.

Ordered items with costly expedited…

Ordered items with costly expedited shipping for a Saturday delivery. Only had an order acknowledgement, no detail on shipping. The items never arrived on site on the Saturday. Team on the following work day did their best, but a little frustrating.

Terrible Customer Service

Ordered a product which was not compatible which I wouldnt have known as the photo on the website did not display the connection type in the photo. I asked to return the item and was informed that the restocking fee is higher than the products cost (£15). Terrible customer service in my opinion.

18/04: Absolute joke they then go on to leave my company a bad review for purchasing a product from them! Avoid at all costs! Scammers
