My own advice to anyone wishing to contact Trading Standards is don’t.
Even a senior officer from TS told me that the system is basically broken.
Where heads should be rolling, those in power are actually rewarded for failure.
It is, to put it mildly, an absolute disgrace.

Called four separate times for advice regarding a consumer issue. Told the same thing three times, by three different people, and on the fourth time I'm told by someone else that everyone I've spoken to before was wrong. Left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Shameful!

The UK has no trading standards anymore. Today for the 3rd time in the last 12 months i have been ripped off by a fraudulent company allowed to do this freely without any fear of prosecution despite hundreds of people like myself complaining they have suffered losses just like me. This time the scam was perpetuated by a company falsely trading in the UK but based in Latvia. You hear on tv about banks and businesses losing hundreds of millions of pounds not to mention the public, its no wonder when trading standards stands idly by and does nothing.

I remember when you used to be able to just directly call trading standards and tell them your issue and they would investigate. Nowadays you can't get through to the customer service call centre. Just constantly on hold. How is this tolerated? It's pathetic.
This "Tradings Standards" is allowing a partner to direct many consumers to a company that is ripping them off
I contacted the CTSI because I had been to the Motor Ombudsman (TMO) and used a company called Automotive Consulting Engineers to produce a report for me to use in a case with the TMO and the FOS.
ACE ripped me off and would not provide the service I had paid for. This was accepted by their awarding body The Institute for the Motor Industry (IMI) as a breach of professional standards.
The vast majority of customer reviews on trustpilot and google about ACE are 1* reviews.
ACE are advertised on a supposedly impartial service providers website the The Motor Ombudsman.
I contacted the CTSI and stated that the Motor Ombudsman should not be directing consumer to ACE given their track record, as the TMO are operating the CTSI motor codes and alternate disputes resolution scheme, and should definitely not be creating consumer victims in the process, by directing them to a company (ACE) that has failed so many consumers and been sanctioned by its professional body The IMI.
The CTSI took weeks to respond, after they had finally communicated with the Motor Ombudsman about this all they said was that the TMO had now put a disclaimed saying they are not responsible. However it does say they "must meet the required high standards", so is this to say they were responsible for this before the disclaimer, and also given that ACE has not met high standards why are the TMO still advertising their business for them?
The CTSI propose to allow this to continue to cause many more consumer victims during the operation of it motor codes and ADR by the the Motor Ombudsman. I thought they were supposed to protect consumer from becoming victims of breaches of consumer regulations not create them??
I contacted the Ombudsman weeks ago and asked their senior management to have the link removed from their website directing consumer to their services as they should not be promoting businesses especially ones that are responsible for massive consumer detriment.
I asked the The Motor Ombudsman if they were paid to put this firm they as they must get the majority of their client from this. The Motor Ombudsman has refused to respond to this or my complaint about it and related issues for weeks now, far exceeding their own deadlines from response.

TV show this morning wrongly advised that one should contact trading standards which of cousr you can't. You just get Citizens Advice who apart from offering to send an email telling you how to complain they arectotally useless and although they give you a reference number you still do not get to spek to Trading Standards. So effectively Trading Standards I suppose do not actually exist and they are just an advertised falicy, endorsed by the media to suggest there is a way you can actually have access to your consumer rights. An example of a useless QUANGO me thinks that appropriate regulation exists which of course is obviously not the case.It is possible to fool most of the people most of the tiime to hide the inadequacies of those that set the agenda and suport thosevwho are detremental to the general public for the purpose of profit. You can let trading standards know my comments and I am sure they will totally igore it!

All those food apps such as Uber eats getting away with daylight robbery by not delivering thousands of items and keeping customers money and trading standards so absolutely nothing about it. They are completely useless for 99.9% of the population and no doubt focus their efforts on ways to ensure the government gets more money via fines. Totally disgusting what the UK has become in the last 5-10 years. Every employee and politician should be embarrassed of what they are but they're all narcissistic sociopaths so they aren't. Cannot contact trading standards direct
You Cannot contact trading standards directly. You have to ring citizens advice bureau. I spoke to citizens advice and raised the issue to Trading standards. Citizens advice Gave the impression that trading standards would very likely not respond or deal with the issue. Sadly I have no confidence in trading standards now, due to being unable to communicate with them directly.
Total waste of space
Absolutely useless! I reported a trader who had conned me and many others out of money for a service they didn't provide. I had hard evidence and was able to acquire much more. Trading Standards did diddly squat. Zilch. Sweet FA! Not interested! They are not contactable directly and you are forced to go through Citizens Advice who appear to work by a script and provide a buffer to TS so they can sit on their backsides and do nothing. They only offer a green light to criminals and it irks me that tax payers money is spent on this useless organisation. Rogue traders take money from customers for a service they don't provide and this shower do exactly the same thing with our taxes. Deplorable!!!
A complete waste of time
I agree with the other negative reviews. If I could have give zero stars I would have. Recently a number of my complaints, relating to fraudulent merchants have been referred to Trading Standards by the Consumer Service. In every case, Trading Standards did not acknowledge the complaint and did not advise if they would be investigating. Since they did not bother to respond to The Consumer Service either, everyone was left in limbo on the offchance that they may be contacted. Years ago the situation was different: individuals could contact Trading Standards directly, an officer would be allocated to your case and would keep you updated. Nowadays, much like the Action Fraud lot (don't get me started on them), they merely provide an illusion of a service in my opinion.
