DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY-

We were in the process of buying a grade 2 listed property, after having a level 3 home buyers report, our mortgage provider also required we have another survey, from a PCA approved company, (not that this means anything when buying an old home) and we were fooled by the good reviews Timberwise had.

Timberwise suggested a £33k plastic damp membrane around the inside of the cob house, (a material that needs to breathe) so this work would eventually destroy the fabrications of the house in question, as well as the adjoining property.

When we questioned Timberwise on how/why this suggested, their response contradicted itself several times over, claiming the damp was coming from the outside but all work needed to be completed on the inside, pushing the damp next door / further up the property, when I asked if this would make more problems in the future I had no response.

The work suggested was illegal to be completed on a listed property because of how invasive/destructive it was, anyone with even a small amount of knowledge on old properties/cob homes should know this.

I am in the process of creating a formal complaint as these suggestions should NOT be made on a historical property, I thought surveyors would care more about the integrity of a home, but this is not the case, they just want to implement 'modern' solutions at an inflated cost.

I should also add that even raising a formal complaint has been difficult!

The team that carried out the work, led by Brian Hicks, arrived punctually and conducted themselves professionally and courteously. They were mindful of our neighbours and completed the job on time, within budget, and to an exceptionally high standard—with no unexpected additions or hidden costs.

The booking process with Connie Copsey, Jackie Lendon, and Debbie Nisbet was effortless. They over-communicated in the best possible way, were consistently clear, followed up promptly, and were an absolute delight to work with.

Contacted Timberwise regarding wet rot to timber floor joist causing floor to drop in my 2 bed terrace house. Spoke to Kerri who was very helpful and gave all details. Surveyor Mark Quinn arrived at agreed time and was very professional. Gave great advice regarding problem and how I could deal with it myself. Because no report was needed and no work carried out there was no fee including no call out fee. Thanks Mark and Timberwise for fantastic service. I will definitely recommend and use again.

Felt supported throughout the process. Jack visited multiple properties with us before we purchased and it always felt like he was on our team. He clearly explained what he saw in a way that we understood (even for elements that didn’t require Timberwise work). The team that then came to carry out our required works (Ricky and Stuart) were incredibly lovely and respectful. They left the house spotless and cleared up every day, even though they were coming back the next morning. The work was also excellent, we can’t fault any part of our experience.

Very happy with the work by Timberwise. Work was to address penetrating damp though my dining room wall. Quote was competitive. They were very flexible arranging the work around building work being done by another company, liaising this company when necessary. Technician, Kevin, was polite and friendly, completing the work to a good standard. Used plenty of floor coverings and kept the place clean and tidy. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Richard was very helpful dealing with woodworm in the garage roof in Porthcawl. Efficient and informative. I would recommend the service.

Dealing with all the staff, whether the office staff or those carrying out the repair work has been good. All polite and helpful. In particular we would like to mention Adrian who carried out the damp proofing, replacement of rotten joists and necessary removal and reapplication of plaster, etc. Throughout his time at our house Adrian was punctual and started work straight away. We also felt that he took great pride in his work and also took great care to keep all mess to a minimum and ensured those areas not involved in the work were well protected from the inevitable dust and dirt. During the course of carrying out the work originally quoted it was found that further work was necessary. The reason was not only fully explained but also we could see why it was necessary when the timbers were exposed. It was clearly a shock financially but having seen how the work had been carried out up to that point, almost totally by Adrian, we decided to stay with Timberwise as the work carried out up to then gave us confidence that the extra work would be carried out professionally and timeously and we were not disappointed in that regard. We would have no hesitation in recommending this firm.

Johnie came to sort a wall out for us.He sorted it kept everything clean and free from dust etc.plastered it , now got a nice straight wall.

They provided us with a comprehensive survey, explained their process, were flexible in fitting in around our preparation work and completed the treatment whilst we were away. Jason spoke to us whilst we were prepping the loft to confirm what he needed access to and whilst at the cottage he contacted us daily advising of his progress.

Martin from Timberwise came out and completed a full survey on the property he was very professional advised on the best course of action to stop the water ingress, the quote came back in a very expedient time. Timberwise have been an excellent company to deal with start to finish. The office staff were polite and accommodating and the surveyor was brilliant. I assumed a plaster problem, perhaps rising damp and expected an expensive damp course quote. The surveyor noted that the problem was an external guttering problem and suggested having this fixed to see if the problem is resolved before spending thousands unnecessarily. The surveyor even managed to fit in a quick inspection with a neighbours fault, offering free, informed advice. Amazing service, and if I find that I do need a damp course long term, I won't hesitate to go back to Timberwise.

We had Timberwise carry out wet rot treatment at our property , they were thoroughly professional from start to finish , Forrest Hamilton is very professional and goes that extra mile to ensure great customer service, Dale who assisted Forrest in carrying out the work is also a credit to the company.

Cameron did a great and efficient job installing doc and hacking out wall and replastering. Very polite and tidy and everything cleaned up after him.

From Colin the surveyor coming and giving advice to the joiner coming and mending and treating the beams everything was done faultless which is rare these days .

My experience with Timberwise was very professional from initial survey to the operative who carried out the works. The operative was very concientious & when faced with a problem overcame it in a workmanlike manner. He was also very clean & tidy, not easy with this type of work in a newly fitted kitchen.

Rodney came round to do a survey and inspection of our property and 2 other people told us we had a rising damp issue. Rodney was very thorough and explained everything he was doing. He also was the only person who did a drill test and inform us that we don’t actually have a damp issue. He said he will write us up a full report advising us of the plaster we need to use to fix the issue. Very happy with the service

The cost of the report from Timberwise was excellent value for money. The inspection of my property was comprehensive/thorough and the report was excellent. I am now able to get quotes for the repairs required based on an accurate assessment of the work needed. I do not have to rely on the trades folk making their assessment, which from previous experiences has not always been accurate. I definately will be using Timberwise again.
