Obviously
Obviously, I haven't had to make a claim yet, but that would be for separate feedback. However, this is the third time I have used this company and this time I bought a year's cover for a great price and when I phoned, they were really helpful explaining my options. Applying is so easy too.. on other insurers, you can't seem to tick a box for more than one country, whereas SCD simply covers 'Europe' for instance. The whole process is really straightforward. Would highly recommend.. but don't know about their claim process.

My husband would have given 4.5. Recommended to join but had issues finding same cost/insurance. All gone through ok. Insurance cover appropriate for my needs. Reasonably priced.

Expensive considering its only top-up insurance for the risk covered. Exploits its monopoly position covering sports repatriation. There is a gap in the market for competitors.

Regular user but exclusions for health issues are a problem
I have regularly used sports over direct and like a lot about them- it’s great if you’re undertaking all sorts of sports. However, I don’t like their approach to disclosures- they always seem to automatically exclude on a pretty broad brush approach if you disclose anything AND they don’t offer the chance to pay an extra premium to be covered- in fact they take your money first and then tell you you’re not covered which is not great if you need that thing included. No doubt it’s dealt with in the small print somewhere and the consumer credit act or similar probably means you can cancel within a period of time but all in all a resequencing of their process would solve this and mean more happy customers.

Unfortunately, our policies are not designed to offer cover for specific medical conditions in return for an additional premium. Instead, each medical declaration is reviewed individually by our underwriters, who assess the information provided and confirm the terms of cover available based on that assessment. But there are providers who specialized in providing cover for those with excluded medical conditions.

Difficult dealing with machines
The credit card I used in 2025 had changed. Repeated telephone calls were met with recorded message which eventually resulted in “voicemail box full”. Making payment online was difficult when the phrase “obtain a new quote” was used.

Our operating hours are Monday-Friday 9-5:30 for telephone calls. Any voicemails over the weekend we get back to on Monday's.
