Inattentive staff and ridiculous chaotic store

Awful experience with Specsavers in Tallaght. Eye exam was fine but the staff definitely lacked enthusiasm and the lack of attention was so bad.
When it came to collect my new glasses a different person dealt with me and told me I was getting 2 distance glasses!!! I had distinctly asked for both reading glasses and distance ones ! I even brought my old ones for them to see . The staff member didn’t seem to care when I said I ordered different lenses and just matter of factly said “ oh she must have pressed the wrong button on the computer! Well I will never again go back to them ! And do not recommend them to anyone.

👓 savers

Was in Specsavers today . It felt like everything was written out of a script. Now staff were trying to be nice don’t get me wrong but it all felt a little false . I don’t like the way they try pressure you into this that and the other , The dearest frames , the different types of glass an all. Also when I was finishing up and was given final price , I thought it was rather bold to ask out straight for full payment before order was put through . Now I had the money luckily enough but if that was someone old or maybe just didn’t have it today well it can be very embarrassing for people . Anyway ya didn’t have the best experience but look I’ll get my glasses this time but not sure about the next .👍👓

Had the most amazing woman called Fatamia in Castletroy today she was an absolute pure gem . She was so kind and helpful not like the other Limerick stores

Are you alright

Upon entering the premises@ 9.45 I was greeted with “are you alright “, whatever happened to good morning, can I help you ?
I was then asked if I agreed to my information being retained , I declined. I was then informed it was necessary, so why bother asking ? Another staff member then appeared and gave me an explanation, some uninformed rubbish about GDPR.
After a short discussion it was agreed my information would be deleted after I had finished my treatment and directed to a waiting area. Just before I sat down I was approached by another member of staff who without any introduction informed me vaguely about GDPR and if I didn’t like it I could leave. I chose to leave
The staff at this business would benefit from customer service training , GDPR training and a lesson in common courtesy.
If I go blind I will not return

Last time I go to Specsavers

Last time I go to Specsavers. First time I needed reading glasses in 2018 I had them made at Specsavers and when I got them everything was blurred, I took them back they said I would get used to them, and they were correct but I never did, even after months of trying. Since then I have had my prescription done there ( which at £30 for about 10 minutes time is not bad money ) but had the glasses made online which I have never had a problem with. The latest visit to have my eyes tested she asked to see my current glasses and the moment she knew they weren't Specsavers glasses the whole attitude changed and I was made to feel belittled, apparently my glasses were wrong prescription , even though I have no trouble seeing with them

Edit I have had a reply from Specsavers, does anyone know how I "reach out" on social media

The hard sell..

Think Specsavers in Galway City need to take a look at the way they bully their customers into paying an extra 25 euro for an OCT scan. An eye test is 30 euro and an OCT scan is described on their website as 'optional' and offered for a 'small' fee, when in fact it nearly doubles your bill. Worst thing is, you have to be prepared for a fight if you don't want the test, such is the hard sell of these tests in this store. I actually felt intimidated when I refused to have the test recently on the grounds, (not that I need grounds for an 'optional' test!) that I'd had one quite recently, plus I am currently under the care of an eye surgeon. I got the real impression that the staff could be on commission for selling the tests as they really are so very pushy. Totally unacceptable.

Horrible experience at Specsavers…

Horrible experience at Specsavers Rathmines on Friday afternoon (April 24th). I went in for an eye test and new lenses. The optician was lovely and professional, but the experience afterwards was very poor. While asking me to sign a form acknowledging potential risks to frames during lens replacement, I asked a reasonable question about whether I would be liable if anything happened. The staff member responded defensively and was rude. Immediately afterwards, she dropped my frames while bringing me to the till and did not apologise.
Not the level of service I would expect after spending €330. I left feeling quite rattled by the whole interaction.

Rude staff and Poor customer care

Good experience 2 years ago, this year the worst.
I was met by a nice receptionist in Ennis shop but the optician, a blond lady was rude, unfriendly and used a cutting tone that was uncomfortable. Not worth going to be met by unpleasant professional. Will never go again.

Very poor service

Very poor service. After paying for an eye test, I was told I’d be contacted within 1–2 weeks, but no one reached out for a month. When I came back, they said they had lost my data and didn’t even apologise. I had to constantly chase them just to get my lenses.

I also asked them to update my delivery address before moving, they confirmed it was done — but now my lenses are being sent to my old address. Completely unprofessional and unreliable. Would not recommend.

I visited your Specsavers store…

I visited your Specsavers store yesterday to pick up my Hearing Aid which was in for repair. I was greeted at reception by a lovely girl called Sarah who realised that I also had a problem with my charger -she sorted that out too! she was extremely helpful….. nothing was a problem to this lovely girl.

Specsavers Dundrum

Had a test at Specsavers Dundrum. Told prescription would be ready in max 10 days. This seemed long enough already. On tenth day I had to call. Was told by staff they would look into delay. 3 hours later got a call to say glasses would not be ready for another 3 days. That will be 2 weeks since test. I understand delays can happen but got the impression I was only being let know because I had called and two weeks is too long for an expensive service

Excellent Staff

Eyre Sq, Galway Branch. Absolutely without doubt the Staff, have to mention 2 outstanding personnel, both Stacey & Paul. I've been in for both myself & my Dad (who's nearly 90!) in the past few weeks & these people go above & beyond in terms of excellent customer service. I had a few issues with my new glasses & it's when you go back with a problem to a store & are treated so well, that's where your excellent staff get 110%!
In fairness all staff in Eyre Sq branch are excellent, both friendly & efficient. Can't speak highly enough of Specsavers ⭐️

I ALSO BROKE MY WREST DUE TO IMPROPER LINSES IN MY GLASSES and was OUT OF ACTION FOR TWO MONTHS
( they were the second pair that went missing for 3 months)
I have Phoned the shop to talk to one of the Directors who works there Hundreds of Times also to get my Hearing Tested I’ve been told I will get back to you / I will pass on your request / will text you asap / I could GO ON and ON

Was in the tallaght branch today and…

Was in the tallaght branch today and Vlatka is super helpful . She patiently helped me choose frames. Measured eyes for varifocals and remembered I needed a certain type of varifocal from the last time I was there . She nails it every time .. 10/10 she’s been there for years and certainly knows her job .

I had a very mixed experience with…

I had a very mixed experience with Specsavers. The optometrist was absolutely excellent – professional, thorough, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the experience completely fell apart once I got to the sales staff.

From the first moment, it felt like I was being pushed to spend as much money as possible. I was told I “needed” varifocal lenses even though this was my first pair of glasses and I only require them for reading. There was also a strong push toward their 2-for-1 promotion, which would have cost me nearly €400. I simply don’t understand why I would need two expensive pairs of glasses when I only need basic reading glasses.

What made it worse is that no one mentioned that, as a medical card holder, I am entitled to free glasses and a covered eye test. I was actually charged for the eye test as well.

I decided to go elsewhere for a second opinion, and the difference was shocking. I received the correct prescription and two pairs of glasses completely free, exactly as medical card holders are entitled to.

The optometrist at Specsavers deserves credit, but the sales tactics left a very bad impression. It felt less like healthcare and more like being pressured into unnecessary purchases. I would strongly recommend that medical card holders double-check their entitlements and consider other providers before committing.

Appalling customer service at Thurles

Appalling customer service! I went to collect a pair of glasses that I wanted replacement lenses for. They weren’t a new prescription so I was very certain that the replacement didn’t feel right. I tried to communicate that politely only to be faced with passive aggression. I didn’t pay over €200 for that kind of service. I was asked to ‘give it a very good go’ for the next week. It’s pretty much impossible when the lenses aren’t correctly aligned to my pupils. I totally get that new prescriptions take a bit of getting used to but that wasn’t the case here. Please educate your staff to be more polite and to listen to customer concerns.
