I fear this is a scam
I fear this is a scam. They have not information security governance. They ask questions without a form and backwards and forwards. We have applied to two dogs and very unprofessional. They have since blocked me on Facebook having told me there are other charities to adopt from. WARNING UNPROFESSIONAL AND A SCAM
Beyond strict application requirements!
Do not apply if you don't have your own email as they require your own personal email address!
I'd sent an initial application for a dog on behalf of my mother who does not do computers, so no email address. Reading some if the negative reviews, I thing that we have potentially saved ourselves hassle and heartbreak.
I am so grateful 🙏🐾🙏🐾
Thorough and efficient vetting process, so efficient considering the team are probably inundated with both rescues & enquiries … I have been so fortunate to be given the privilege to adopt Reggie …. I am so grateful 🙏🐾
Denied due to the age of my adult dog
After applying to rescue a puppy I was told to email ‘how my family meet the criteria’
Sent it off to be told that my adult dog was too old (12y/o) to be around the pup in question.
I emailed back and asked if they would reconsider as although she is 12 she is so young at heart and would be amazing in helping a puppy learn.
That request was totally ignored and I then put a comment on the Facebook post explaining that myself and my family were really upset with the reason we were turned down and they deleted my comment. I’d have hoped they would at least of allowed my dog to meet the pup in question and see how they were together but nothing.
We would have helped enormously with ongoing funding but are now in the process with an amazing rescue centre.
Back to front views!
It’s a shame that you want to do the right thing and rescue a dog but this rehoming charity makes you jump through hoops to do so.
Waited weeks for a little dog I seen coming up for rehoming and checked all the boxes - except 1!
Home with one other young dog - check!
Breed savvy home - check!
No cats - check!
Older sensible children - check!
Other dogs need to be neutered - oh!
My other dog is female, as is the dog that I was looking to adopt so why would my dog need to be neutered?!
In actual fact they told me to message them back once my dog has been neutered, so I’ve to go put my dog through an operation, and I might not even have a chance of adopting the little dog I was interested in?
Absolutely bizarre!
Also found the messages back and forth to be very dry, like they couldn’t give two hoots about me being interested in giving a dog a home.
Brilliant hardworking rescue
Met the criteria to adopt two lovely girls so messaged the rescue explaining why I thought I was suitable as requested. Exchanged emails asking for details of my experience etc and then they set up the home inspection. All very professional and yesterday I brought home my girls. My experience with the rescue and foster mum has been brilliant. They do an amazing job. I've seen some comments regarding the £50 deposit - this is refunded if you fail the home visit and reserves the dog/s for you in the meantime. I wanted to adopt so had no issue in paying it - they have so much work I can fully understand the reason for requesting it.
They asked for a £50 deposit before…
They asked for a £50 deposit before they would do a home check. This was to be done via video call??? How can you check a home via video call. Soneone rang and asked if 10.30 am on Sunday would be ok, I said yes. No one rang nor did I get a message to say they wouldn't be ringing. About one and a half hours later I got a message asking if they could rearrange but we were a little concerned about this so we said no we wouldn't proceed. They will not refund the £50 deposit they said it's because we wouldn't proceed, not that they didn't bother to ring and didn't complete the arrangement they made. They seem to be unprofessional and only want the money. They incurred no costs in what happened so have no reason to keep the money. Be careful.
Fantastic foster and adoption company
They do incredible work and have helped rescue 5 dogs for us over the years
Incredible rescue
Incredible rescue, the negative reviews on here are beyond belief! The rescues utmost priority is the welfare of the dogs and ensuring they go to right home. If you don’t meet their (reasonable) criteria, which is for the dogs benefit, then this doesn’t excuse throwing a tantrum because you didn’t get your way.
These dogs have ended up in rescue due to having the wrong start in life including irresponsible owners. Why on earth would they hand them over to someone else that isn’t checking all the right boxes?
I now have three of their rescues, the care and time they put into these little dogs is outstanding.
Bear in mind this a small rescue, relying on fund raising and foster carers, they are responsible for paying all veterinary costs and after care. They are absolute saints for all they do.
Re communication, I have never had any issues but again they are a very small team trying to deal with the incoming and outgoing dogs, running social media, organising healthcare for multiple dogs, communicating with foster families and potential adopters.
I will never ever buy a dog again and will always return to SilverFox for any future dogs.
Time wasters
Time wasters. Sent email for an application for a dog with all the relevant information. However spent a week and a half going back and forth with emails, with them asking the exact same questions I had already informed them in the original application. Had the home visit which we were told we should be ok providing we had a small fence put up on our grass area which I had said we were already having installed imminently after the visit having accepted a quote to do so. We were then told by the "rescue" we were unsuccessful due the fence despite the fact we were having it installed imminently. We are really disappointed as we wanted the dog, they have put us off rescues completely and will use a breeder instead, which is a a shame as we wanted to give a rescue dog a loving home.
Don’t waste your time!!
We’ve tried twice now to adopt a rescue from them! Both times we have had one question at a time emails, no phone calls to discuss our situation for adopting (even after providing a number and asking them to do so) …… from the random questions asked they then make up their own mind you’re not suitable then after days of messages back and forth …. Nothing! It’s then you find on their website the dog you’re interested in is now ‘Reserved’ when you email to ask why all you get back is “we found a more suitable home”???? How can they make this decision without talking to us! My feeling is that’s it’s not who’s the most suitable to adopt, but who can take the dogs off their hands the quickest! Don’t waste your time with them, it’s so frustrating! Also find it strange there is no follow up posts about the doggy’s who found their forever homes? 🤔
Don't waste your time
I applied several times to adopt different dashunds that had come into their rescue. They had me jumping through all sorts of hoops in their application. Was dog neutered? Done. Could we handle a bigger dog? Sent photos of when we had a lab who unfortunately passed. Had we experience of separation anxiety. Yes due to already having a dashund in lockdown .Get permission from landlord to have dog. Which we had to do several times as the rescue didn't like the wording on the consent letter. And then didn't even have the courtesy to tell us our applications were not successful.
We have a loving home to offer but I think it's only if your face fits that you get any chance of adopting a dog. Completely put me off rescues for life. We are now just going to go to a breeder and buy a dog. Less hassle.
I adopted a little chihuahua in June…
I adopted a little chihuahua in June 2023 Pudding, now named Phoebe.I was very impressed with the vetting done at my home and the information they needed to ensure Phoebe was a suitable dog as a companion for my other chihuahua.Phoebe has settled in beautiful and Ralph my other chihuahua adores her as do I .The rescue does their best and do have to ask difficult questions to ensure the rehoming goes well .❤️
I’ve been following this rescue on…
I’ve been following this rescue on Facebook for a number of years and I enquired about a teacup chihuahua puppy back during lockdown. For some time now I’ve been noticing increasing numbers of pedigree puppies and toy/teacup puppies up for adoption in their rescue. Tonight myself and a few others commented on their latest intakes which were a show cocker spaniel puppy and a chihuahua puppy. We were all questioning why and how they end up with so many puppies and pedigree at that. Subsequently this led to them removing me off their group. If I wasn’t already questioning the integrity surrounding how they acquire all these puppies then I most certainly am now.
Adopt with confidence
I enquired about a little dog called Rosie. Silver fox asked if I had experience with dogs with behaviour issues as this little dog was very anxious and would try to escape. They knew the needs of the dog and we didn't proceed. Clearly they have the dogs needs as their priority. I have now adopted a 9yr old chihuahua from them. The foster carer was brilliant and had cared for the little dog very well. They did a full home check on me. All communications were clear, correct and done with warmth. You can adopt from them with confidence.
I inquired about a dog got home check…
I inquired about a dog got home check done passed .I pacificly stated I work early hours so need a dog that could be left alone and not bark the house down stated this numerous times .got a dog and was told yes It won't bark and will just sleep when your out well outcome I was mislead by this rescue as the dog I got barked non stop form 6am to 10.30am same thing happened next time I went out dog has been returned and I asked for refund because they mislead me and i would never of agreed to take on a dog that can't be left alone so please watch what you are doing with this rescue , kinda getting feeling am getting ignored now but I am going to seek legal advice about this also what they said in there advert didn't happen either . So think twice about this rescue
Totally professional and brilliant
Adopted a dog through Silver Fox, and they couldn't have been better. They make sure you're a good match for the dog and perform a home check, which is absolute due diligence. Communications were always really pleasant and the fee for adoption is more than reasonable given that it goes towards vet checks, vaccination and neutering if needed. I read some of the negative reviews and they're unreasonable. A charity needs to charge to function and look after the dogs needs prior to rehoming, and the request for other dogs in the home to be neutered is standard practice as responsible outfits like to reduce the risk of back yard breeders. Hardly unfair, certainly not for the dogs.
I would take these reviewers with a pinch of salt. Silver Fox have been nothing short of excellent.
I emailed silver fox to rescue two…
I emailed silver fox to rescue two brothers, their reply was that they dont rehome siblings together incase of interbreeding, such a shame these boys will be split up after all they've been through and I think it's cruel!!!!!!
Knowledgeable and caring dog rescue
We adopted our little dog from Silver Fox. It was all lovely volunteers who helped us with information about her character, did a home check, and brought her to us. It’s clear they love and care about all the dogs they have and they’re invested in the dog’s wellbeing for life and are there for support along the way.

My wife applied to adopt a chihuahua named "Teddi" and ticked all the boxes for the adoption requirements.
We lost our little loving chihuahua "Benji" in May and was a lovely companion for our 11 year old Yorkshire Terrier "Pippa". We are both just retired and thought we could offer a loving home for this little chihuahua but it wasn't to be.
We were told our Yorkshire Terrier was to old to be of any companion to this little chiuhuahua. If you want to adopt from this rescue centre make sure you not only fit the criteria but be prepared for disappointment.
