I have been closely involved with a sale handled by Charlotte Hancock of Sharman Quinney, Cambourne.
The sale was complicated from the outset, for a number of reasons:
• It was the result of a Court Order in a divorce;
• One vendor was living abroad;
• Another vendor was occupying the property with tenants and was uncooperative in most aspects of the sale.
Charlotte’s contribution to this sale was quite extraordinary: I have genuinely never encountered an Estate Agent like her.
She kept us updated on progress and communicated immediately there was any kind of issue.
When there were difficulties (and there were many), she was calm, clear, positive and offered not only sensible advice, but real, concrete help, visiting the property more than once, to liaise in person with the occupants and give and get information to facilitate and expedite the process; at the very end, she was enormously proactive even to the extent of helping find a local firm to clear effects from the property at the very last minute.
Charlotte showed all these qualities from the start and throughout the duration of the sale process, which was long drawn-out. Although she was impeccably professional all the time, it is clear to me that she engaged with care, concern and kindness on a human basis and tried to do as much to help the buyers as she did the vendors.
Buying and selling a house is an inevitably stressful time and it’s fair to say that Estate Agents don’t, in general, have a brilliant reputation. This would not be the case, if everyone dealt with people like Charlotte. She is an outstanding credit to Sharman Quinney and to the profession in general and we are happy to record publicly our thanks, gratitude, respect and affection for her.

Right from day one we were treated very well, all the staff at Thrapston were fantastic,James was so helpful, kerry was the one that I spent most of my time talking to, and she was so helpful! and thank you Lucy and Mariella, never had a problem during the sale of our Bungalow! But all the staff were great and could not have done a better Job, Thank You all!

Very happy with the service received from Sharman Quinney estate agent, Linda McMullan at the Oundle office was amazing throughout the house buying process, easy to reach, knowledgeable and always happy to help. Katie Staggs was also a pleasure to deal with and pushed for completion at every stage!! Highly recommend. However per the other reviews there was a big push for me to use their in house broker, not a very nice tactic. Even though I had an AIP from NatWest I still had to have a quote from their mortgage broker in their words ‘for my offer to be seen as genuine’.

Also Sharman Quinney solicitor were not the best, creating an unnecessary 2 month delay due to not actioning a simple charge removal in good time.

I strongly urge anyone thinking of using Sharman Quinney letting agents to reconsider.
They are extremely incompetent, unprofessional and will say and do anything to get your business.
Utterly untrustworthy.

Personally, I no longer rate this organisation and no longer use their services. However, I have had the unfortunate experience of Sharman Quinney Stamford, being part of a very stressful chain! After 5 months I had to stop the sale of my property. And the responsibility lies firmly with the management at their Stamford Office. They were unwilling to help in supporting the sale, with comments ‘stop chasing on xxxxxx as it’s taken up too much of our time’ . This negative behaviour has been demonstrated, throughout this very stressful process .Not only have they let me down, they have seriously let down their vendor and the purchaser of the property they were selling.

Feedback to the leadership team at this organisation is ‘it’s very easy to sell a property in the current climate. But it takes skill and competence to get them over the line. Which you are clearly lacking’

Lesson to self. If this organisation ever happens to be apart of my chain in future house sales. Sorry, you wont be buying my house!

I made the huge mistake of inviting this bunch of cowboys around to value my Mother's property, in June 2020, as I needed to sell it in order to fund her Dimentia care.
They were not appointed and the property was sold by another agent.

Since this time I have received a call from them around once every two to three months asking about the property and every time I informed them it was sold and would they refrain from any future contact.

I can only conclude that the company is either essentially incompetent and unable to maintain appropriate and up to date records or ( more likely) the business model is largely based upon relentless and ill-considered harassment - a pattern of behaviour executed over time resulting in an adverse effect on the recipient.

My Mum passed away three days ago and around ten minutes ago I got a call from them asking about her property and whether it had been sold.

I only answered the call because It was a Peterborough number and I'm speaking to the Hospital, Registrar and Funeral Director, all of whom are based in Peterborough.

I returned the call on the same number from which the previous caller had rung, in some distress and was told by someone who's lack of empathy and human engagement aptly qualified her to work for an estate agent, that I needed to re-dial and press one on the options list.

So That's Sharmann Quinney, clearly happy to hound the living daylights out of you to the grave and beyond.

Whilst I appreciate that a lack of humanity or moral compass are viewed as positive character traits in this profession, this has to be a new low.......

Just dealt with this agent for a house in Whittlesey, Peterborough. Found a property on Rightmove but been sold. Gave them my details. Then asked about my status i.e. had I seen a mortgage advisors. I had. And my Bank. BUT - Sharmin Quinney offered a 'privilege' service (it's called Ready to buy or something like that'). However, to be part of this, I'd have to see their advisor. I didn't want to. I said no twice. I was then told, "If you are not part of the service then we doubt we will be able to find you anything as we go to our privilege (or whatever it was called) first. So basically - we won't help you buy a house if you don't see/use or mortgage advisor. This is shocking, unfair behaviour and doesn't create a level playing field. Avoid.

I was a first time buyer, buying a house not in a chain and it took 4 months to complete after constant chasing from me! Such slow service, mainly due to the poor attention to detail from the sellers using Sharman Quinney's in house conveyancers. Time after time the contracts had to be amended due to careless errors such as spelling mistakes, wrong names on contract etc. Very frustrating! There was no communication to apologise for the countless delays, the estate agents lost interest in helping me once I had my offer accepted. Would never recommend - avoid.

If I could give no stars I would. I am a first time buyer who has a mortgage in principle and a deposit ready, which I got through an independent mortgage broker. I had a found a property and put in my first ever offer which should be an exciting time instead I was told I needed to meet their mortgage broker to do checks before going ahead with the offer. However this is not legal! Be warned, they are bullies and try and use your lack of knowledge to make you do things that are not required. I rang my mortgage broker who rang them to inform them that checks had already be complete so this was not needed. They then did put my offer forward however I got a phone call to say it was rejected on the grounds I had not gone with their mortgage broker and the vendor wanted that security. I then explained that I have a mortgage in principle so checks have been complete if I do another check it can effect my credit so why would I do another one. I then upped my offer, I waited 4 days to hear back. I chased and ended up arguing with Rowena saying that they are bullying me into something I don't need to do and trying to make out that its something I have to do. I got an answer in the end saying my offer had been rejected as the vendor wanted the full asking price. So why wasn't I told this when the first offer was rejected? Do not use Sharman Quinney they are awful greedy people wanting bonuses for the house sale and for the mortgage.

We were impressed with the service we had from Mariella at Sharman Quinney Thrapston office. We were shown around 3 properties that were of interest to us. She was very informative and we didn't feel like we were in a high pressure sales environment. Would be happy to use again in the future.

Couldn't fault Sharman Quinney up to offer acceptance. Mortgage advice from Sophia was helpful and transparent, and negotiations were smooth with Tom too. However, there was a noticeable drop in customer service once the offer had been accepted. Often couldn't get hold of the estate agents on the phone, and had to actively ask them about what was needed next. The agent in charge of post-offer viewing was also 20mins late, just due to forgetting the viewing, which just helped to show the deprioritisation after offer acceptance.

Overall was a good experience, and at the end of the day no mistakes were made and the property purchase went through, but there were things they could have done to make the post-offer journey a lot smoother and more fulfilling.

I am happy to report that she was professional throughout and got back to me as requested and has been able to answer any queries I have had along the way. She was friendly and helpful, but was not too pushy in a way that some agents can be......... Many thanks for your help Milly.

Sharman Quinney Whittlesey, 0 stars if an option...the sales department are awful at communicating and more interested in organising their social life than doing their job. They even have a video online saying come and work for us, we have a great outside of work social life...maybe you should work as hard as you play?!
I would not use these Estate Agents ever again and certainly do not recommend.
Rude, lack communication and very unprofessional.

Not just the worst estate agency, but the WORST company I have ever dealt with in my lifetime.

I honestly do not no where to start. I rented my property through them with the assurance that there would be an excellent management service. However, the service was just diabolical! Had a lot of issues with the tenant that were just not resolved meaning that I had to sort them myself every time. The owners wife Angela, was the most unhelpful person I have ever dealt with and also very rude. Sarcastically said that I could put in a complaint about her actions (as if anything would be done about it).

When I went to sell the house (because I was having such a bad experience) Their sales team also valued it £10k under for what it sold for. Obviously I used another agent for this in the end.

I would avoid this company like the plague.

I am a landlord and this is by far the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
Agents lie
Contractors try and generate work that is simply not required.
Zero customer services
On making complaints they simply ignore you.
Avoid this agent like the plague l!!

Terrible experience. Be warned and avoid. This was my first experience selling a property and Sharman Quinney, and Adam Tanswell in particular, were a nightmare to deal with. It started out with a few small warning signs as Adam came to our home and he seemed a bit pushy, but we went ahead with advertising our property with them – if only we’d gone with our instincts and not assumed all agents are like this.

After an initial 2 weeks with 4 viewings (none of which came to anything), things cooled off very quickly. We went several weeks with few viewings or communication and had to push them for updates. After 6 weeks we were getting really disheartened and asked if we could give 30 days’ notice and give someone else a go (Adam made it clear when we met, we could give 30 days’ notice to end the contract). Their response was to send excerpts from the contract highlighting that 30 days could only be given after week 25!! And if we advertised with anyone else their fees would go up considerably and they would try to block any sale independent of them or seek their inflated fees on top.

It was a really intimidating and stressful time, they should have tried to address our concerns and offered advice and reassurance rather than point to the contract points in their favour.

We got advice to take it to an ombudsman who would be very concerned by such a long length of contract and poor terms, but despite this we waited out the 25 weeks to be free. We received more no shows than viewings (few of either) and towards the end of the contract they tried to pressure is into selling to a property developed for well under the asking price.

To make matters worse, once the contract ended, they sent us a bill for £150 for their advertising and requested we pay it within 3 days. Ironically, we couldn’t get any reply from Adam or Mike Sharman when we wanted advice towards the and of the contract, and they were slow to respond to requests to remove our ads after the contract ended – but quick to send us this bill and request immediate payment (twice in two days). There are plenty of much better agents out there, and we’ve had a much better experience now we’re with someone else. Avoid Sharman Quinney and Adam Tanswell.

Terrible, terrible agent and services. The branch manager asked me to pay twice a re-let cost, without checking if I had paid already. I strongly believe they never mentioned any of my issues and proposals regarding my tenancy to the landlord. Even he admitted he had no idea. Never again with them. You think I'm wrong? Challenge me. I've got all the emails to prove what I'm saying.

Our actual property sold extemely quickly. In under 1 week. We told the manager of our local branch we wanted to tell quickly and we were advised to use Pirie Palmann as solicitor (Sharman Quinney Conveyancing) so that we could complete by 30th September stamp duty rise. As far as I can tell this was a complete lie and was only done to make some extra commision. We are now still stuck, with an awful conveyancing company and nowhere near completing on our sale with no one from the estate agents doing anything to help push the sale through. AVOID.

Go elsewhere, selling my property during covid with them was a miserable experience. It took 21 weeks to COMPLETE even when I had a buyer. Save your energy and money go elsewhere.
