Worst company auction ever to deal with robbing people of there hard earned money
This company is nothing but scammers, they sold me a car at a price and then added these fees on after I paid the invoice and then said I have anther invoice to pay which I had no acknowledgment off until I paid what I bought the car for, secondly I asked the boys at the auction was car driving and all ok yes car perfect, then I had to get the money to pay for second invoice of xtra £4k nearly, and then got car home on lorry and car was pushed off the lorry wouldn’t start wouldn’t turn over put new battery in her and had to get recovery to mechanics and now the engine has be blown, and not one description off the car was non runner r engines problems cause if they had of said that I wouldn’t of bid on car and the fees also put extra £4k on top of price, pure scandalous what this company is doing to people and I’m a victim of this also, the sooner these people are held accountable the better cause they can’t keep getting away with this.

To be honest in Uk and this company is…
To be honest in Uk and this company is allowed to scam people openly. Same as everyone I never read reviews on after l had paid first invoice. Got first invoice and told once I pay I would get details to collect car next day. Quickly paid and after 10 minutes got another invoice for 4600£ for 39% charges and tax. I was told to cancel I would loose 4700£. Daylight robbery. I got threats to pay by 5pm or I get more charges. They have my 7800£ and threatening more charges. They have cancelled my membership.
I wish i read all these reviews before…
If I could give them 0 stars i would. I wish i read all these reviews before buying anything from these scammers. I won a car on ibidder they called me telling me that i had won the car for 4000 with vat it came to 4834 wich i was happy to pay I sent them the money and tried to arrange delivery thats when i got hit with a second invoice for 2600 ehich i protested but they hit me with the terms and conditions on their site which are waaaay waaay at the bottom i chose to cancel and i only got back 2300 out of mh initial 4800 i paid this is the scummiest scams i have yet encountered in my life and for it to happen on Christmas eve today my family’s Christmas is ruined.
Most shocking auction experience ever
Charges are on the bidding page, one set of charges are in the fees tab but a devious second set of charges are hidden behind a grey button. They will send an invoice for the first set of charges and once that's paid a second invoice for the hidden fees arrives. All facilitated by Bidspotter and i-bidder. The car had a gearbox issue not mentioned in the description. I'd recommend to stay away from these scammers.
“I recently bought a vehicle from…
“I recently bought a vehicle from Richard Maze Car Auction and had a very disappointing experience. The car/van I purchased had multiple faults that were not disclosed at the time of sale, and I was later hit with hidden charges that were never explained upfront.
The lack of transparency and honesty is unacceptable. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company and would advise others to avoid buying from them.”
How to turn a £1100 auction win into…
How to turn a £1100 auction win into over a £2600 spend....
Just buy from this bunch and be held hostage by their 2 invoice policy and bank transfer only payment.
Luckily and thankfully i checked the reviews for this bunch.... Strangely no google reviews anywhere online for them ... But good to see their on trustpilot.
They don't make their charges very clear.... I've used auction houses for decades and never seen this type of thing ever.... Don't get caught out by it on bidspotter.
Every other review is 100% accurate.... Send WhatsApp for an initial 500 etc...
I pulled the purchase and now their threatening legal action already via a phone call with Patrick.
Good luck with that👍
They are a bunch of crooks
Just to update you on my previous review,
The Peugeot Expert i bought at the auction i repaired the water leak as i said for £800 only to find now i have driven it for 30 miles it overheats and the garage tell me the head gasket needs replacing, which im told will be between £2600-£3000. The advised option s to have a reconditioned engine for£4000. As you can see this company is one that you should not touch with a barge pole. My advice is don't bid because even if the reserve is not met they ring and say your bid has been accepted and that is when your problems start. vehicle had no paperwork one key no spare not original wheels no jack or wheel brace no tyre inflator everything from the van had been, removed not even the owner manual. STAY AWAY
Do not buy! Richard maze!!
They advertise very cleverly, they say read description for fees. In my case 785+vat. Then recieved another invoice for buyers premium of 39% and then the 20% overall vat. £8000 to £12600. Advert states that it runs and drives, doesn’t state with 1 turbo blown, and harsh jumping gearbox. Lucky to get home!!! Now looking at £5000 in repairs!! There attitude stinks, they threat with courts! Yet they are the ones having us over!! Do not buy! I repeat do not buy! They use I-bidder and another platform. Between them they are majorly out of order. When I buy from bca or copart, they tell you, runs and drives but!! They don’t hide anything! This company however will take the eyes out of your head for £5
I want to share my recent experience…
I want to share my recent experience with this Richards maze auction house to help others avoid potential pitfalls. I bid on a car for £4,500, and with additional charges, including £650 and VAT, my initial invoice came to £5,300, which I paid promptly. However, I noticed a lack of transparency in their charges. Typically, other auction houses provide a single invoice detailing all expenses, but here I received a separate administrative fee bill.
Surprisingly, the following day I received another invoice that included a 39% commission and an additional 20% on the hammer price, raising my total to around £8,000. This was significantly above my initial budget of £6,000 to £7,000. To make matters worse, I discovered the car was classified as a non-runner, contrary to previous assurances that it was operational.
Upon raising my concerns, they directed me to their rule book, which unfortunately was not as clear as I had hoped regarding the definition of a "runner." I felt misled and realized that I only had two options: pay the increased bill of £8,000 plus £800 for towing and repairs, or cancel my order. Ultimately, I chose to cancel, but I was disappointed to find that I faced £3,100 in unnecessary charges, and only received a refund of £2,200.
This led to a significant loss for me, and I urge anyone considering bidding with this auction house to be cautious. It’s crucial to fully understand all potential charges upfront, as they may not present everything in a single invoice. Always be prepared for unexpected fees that could arise later. I hope sharing my experience helps others make informed decisions.
One star is too much for those incompetents!
One star is too much for these crooks. From the first phone call to the last, there have been only lies. The delivery price was £120, and after you pay, the car is £300. They initially said to send £500 to see if the electronic payment system works, and they would send it back. Once they caught you in their net (like a fish), they said they wouldn't send the money back (because they're not fools). The first invoice of £4300 is next. I pay it, and then the final invoice comes with all the hidden fees (which do not appear on I-bidder). The commission hidden in the description is 39%.So, good people, the bid price went from £3400 to £6900 - the final bill, so the price doubles. I arrange with that idiot at the end of the phone to deliver the car on Monday. On Monday, guess what? No car comes because that animal hadn't arranged with anyone to transport the wreck to the destination. After several phone calls and hours wasted with serious people in the UK, the car finally arrives at the owner. I drive it for a few miles and a warning light comes on the dashboard: Check system! Wow, I knew from my mechanic that this warning system reappears after a certain number of miles if it has been retested on the computer. So, the crooks knew the car had problems. If you want a wreck, don’t bid at this bunch of incompetents, buy one from the junkyard. Amen!
Poor Service – Incorrect V5 Documentation
I recently purchased a car from your company and provided clear correspondence, including my name and address, for the new owner's V5C registration details. Despite this, you failed to complete this simple task correctly. Now, I’m forced to pay a £25 fee for a V62 form to rectify **your** mistake—a mistake you’ve even admitted to.
This is completely unacceptable. Buyers should be aware of such unprofessional service before dealing with your business.
STAY AWAY extreme dissatisfaction with…
STAY AWAY extreme dissatisfaction with a recent purchase experience through this company, which was facilitated via Bidspotter.
After my initial bid was accepted, I was subsequently issued a second invoice for storage and additional fees, which was not disclosed at the time for storage. This unexpected charge was applied even after the initial payment was processed. Furthermore, despite exporting the vehicle to Ireland, my request for a VAT refund was denied. So bad to deal with.
To compound these issues, the Nissan pickup I purchased had a major engine fault, requiring a new head gasket, after arriving. This repair is estimated to cost between £4,000 and £5,000.
I believe this experience warrants a strong warning to other potential buyers.
This company is SCAM. I have reported them to HMRC and tow other bodies. They are part of another dogey auction group
Don't buy from these cowboys
I have been buying from English auctions for 45 years plus. I had the misfortune of signing up for RichardMaze auctions on 23 June to bid on a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 diesel 7 seater SUV. Supposed to be in Rugby Warwickshire but is now on the Isle of Lewis. With engine and transmission problems and has been involved in a crash and fixed, all on the very bottom of the page, how this cowboy got a license to run an auction and is linked to Bidspotter (Great Auction House) is beyond me. I rang them the evening the sale closed after winning and was told to pay the invoice that I have never received, even now 03/07/25,
Late last night i received a email to say i am blocked from auction's. Complete Cowboys.
Regards Peadar Hughes.
Scam auction Richard Maze & co
Avoid, scam auction house. Richard maze fairly new scam auction house based on online bidspotter/i-bidder.
They tend send 3 seperate invoices tricking you into thinking you’re exempt from VAT and other fees. Once they take ur money they’re hoping they’d bum you on the rest later.
Their fees are all silly high as it’s a scam auction and also, they sell many dodgy cars on their auction which are sold with hidden problems and lack of details. Obvious issues that they’ll claim they had no knowledge of. I had picked up a car which had issues with a gearbox. It’s an obvious problem and was driven for me to pick up at a dodgy location.
I placed a bid on a vehicle that was marked as “Reserve Not Met” at the time. Around 2 hour later, while the auction was still live, the status suddenly changed to “Reserve Met”, with no notification or transparency. This felt misleading and left me unsure whether my bid had triggered a sale or not.
There also appeared to be suspicious bidding patterns, with bids being placed and then removed — possibly to drive the price up until it reached a more favourable point for the seller. Along side with selling me a messed up car on purpose with an expensive fault among other more minor problems but still expensive. This kind of behaviour raises concerns about fairness and trust in the auction process and is illegal which has been documented, proven and reported to the relevant agencies. They are currently being investigated.
I’ve raised the issue with Trading Standards, as I believe this falls under unfair trading practices. Just sharing my experience so others can stay away from this scam auction.
Easy purchase
Easy purchase. Bidding process was simple and quick. Car was delivered 3 days later.
Thank you Darren for free delivery Johnny was very Helpful
