Caveat Inquisitor
I was looking after an inheritance on my daughter's behalf and wanted to get some basic information on my options. I had 45 minute interview with a lawyer and got a verbal outline of what my options might be. (Some of which I later found was incorrect eg that the signature on a deed of variation must be witnessed by a solicitor)
I had only wanted some outline advice but some days later got a letter from Parker Bullen telling me how pleased they were that I had appointed them to look after my affairs. This was accompanied by thirteen pages of information about Parker Bullen's Terms and Conditions. I emailed back saying no thanks, I didn't want to take this any further, and could they just bill me for the advice.
I got a bill for over £500.
