The Palm Centre is the original and premier UK nursery for hardy exotics. Established in 1989 by Martin Gibbons, it has since expanded into the 4 acre nursery in Richmond where we grow, propagate and source a large variety of both indoor and outdoor plants, from the rare and unusual to those more common place in horticulture today.
The Palm Centre is a 4 acre nursery which includes several large glasshouses and outdoor display areas, situated in the old kitchen gardens of Ham House, right by the River Thames in Richmond.
We specialise in a wide range of plants from palm trees to herbaceous perennials. Our established relationships with growers all around Europe and further afield allow us to hold a diverse range of plants for your home, garden or bigger landscaping projects.
Our online shop is a selection of the broader stock you can browse at our nursery in Ham, London. Come and visit the nursery to see an even wider selection, featuring the largest specimens we have.
We love the unusual and the large, and aim to keep good stock levels as consistent as possible. However, with the range we carry and the seasonal nature of our industry it’s not always achievable.

Very healthy tree but slightly misshapen
My olive tree arrived slightly later than originally scheduled but within the new timescale given. It is a healthy tree with even a few olives on it. However one side was quite badly misshapen in comparison with the other as if it had been grown too close to a wall or crushed in travelling. I think probably the former.

You are only as good as your last job…
I bought from the Palm Centre because I’ve purchased from them before and had an excellent experience. This delivery did not get off to a good start when it was delivered to the wrong house in a different road. I eventually tracked it down once the delivery driver contacted me and apologised profusely and told me where it was.
I would not have mentioned this but on opening the box I saw that my Sacred Bamboo had white mildew all over the leaves. Otherwise it looks in excellent condition and is now planted in the garden, where I hope it will thrive. It is disappointing as the issue must have been seen before it was boxed up. I’ll keep a close eye on it

The stars I have given reflect the plants I have received in the 2 recent orders placed
the latter order had issues with delivery that I previously addressed
However all the plants I have purchased from the Palm Center are quite stunning and well deserve the 5 stars best place for palm quality

A brilliant company
From ordering online to arriving at my front door, I received great communication and was informed about everything!
Fast delivery also had the bonus of being scheduled a slot of 2 hours which was very useful to me.
The packaging was brilliant and more than substantial to deal with delivery.
Plant arrived in perfect health and looks amazing!
