The Palm Centre is the original and premier UK nursery for hardy exotics. Established in 1989 by Martin Gibbons, it has since expanded into the 4 acre nursery in Richmond where we grow, propagate and source a large variety of both indoor and outdoor plants, from the rare and unusual to those more common place in horticulture today.
The Palm Centre is a 4 acre nursery which includes several large glasshouses and outdoor display areas, situated in the old kitchen gardens of Ham House, right by the River Thames in Richmond.
We specialise in a wide range of plants from palm trees to herbaceous perennials. Our established relationships with growers all around Europe and further afield allow us to hold a diverse range of plants for your home, garden or bigger landscaping projects.
Our online shop is a selection of the broader stock you can browse at our nursery in Ham, London. Come and visit the nursery to see an even wider selection, featuring the largest specimens we have.
We love the unusual and the large, and aim to keep good stock levels as consistent as possible. However, with the range we carry and the seasonal nature of our industry it’s not always achievable.

Ordered a tall pot plant last week
Ordered a tall pot plant last week, impressed with information with regard to delivery. Plant was dispatched promptly and arrived in perfect condition.

Delayed order resulted in having to cancel a job!
The order did not arrive as my delivery address was not altered along with my billing address (it was a telephone order). In an attempt to rectify this a new order was sent but not in time for the job it was for. Work had to be cancelled. It took 10 days to get this order which I had purposely given enough time to get.

My Trachy came nicely packaged
My Trachy came nicely packaged. It's in a medium pot on the west of Scotland, Cowal peninsula. It's thriving in the warm damp climate due to gulf stream. It's been through 1 winter with no problems. But I'm going to protect it this winter from high winds. Great plant.

Purchased an olive tree from the palm…
Purchased an olive tree from the palm centre. It arrived in great condition and well packed. I was truly surprised by the size of the plant for the money, even came with olives on the tree.

Don’t bother looking anywhere else.
I have ordered several palms from The Palm Centre over the years and have always been very impressed and this delivery surpassed my expectations it was very well packaged and was delivered very carefully by APC Overnight. The palm was in superb condition and now looks great on my decking.
I would highly recommend don’t bother looking anywhere else.

Easy to order and product was exactly…
Easy to order and product was exactly what was displayed on site , only thing was ordered plant then a week later ordered same one again but had got up £11 so was a big jump so soon after ordering but will definitely be using this company again

Very reliable, quality plants and excellent service
I have purchased several plants from the Palm Centre and they have always been of excellent size for the price.
I have found them to offer far more competitive prices than their rivals and far superior plants in size than I have previously bought elsewhere.
So much so, that I no longer look elsewhere for the larger specimens.

Good quality ferns
I ordered asplenium scolopendrium ( common name ‘Hart’s Tongue Fern’ ). Despite the bottom of the box arriving completely open, the delivery person informed me it was open. The plants arrived in fantastic condition. They were planted straight away. I recommend The Palm Centre.

Excellent service all round.
Excellent price, well informed about the status of our order. The timescale for shipping of live plants the other end of the country was very good. The bamboo came well wrapped in cardboard (which was then turned into a fort by the 10 year old!). Thoroughly recommend for the future.
