We love our furniture (hideaway desk and large sideboard). They are solidly built and well finished. The ability to customise and the range of finishes as a great bonus. We had been looking all over for the furniture to fit our new home and the Painted Furniture Company came up trumps. The only negative was the long wait - but they were worth waiting for! The delivery service was also good - on time and the guys ensured that everything was perfect. We would definitely recommend and use again.

We visited the showroom several times…
We visited the showroom several times and were warmly greeted by the staff. The showroom is pleasantly laid out and the staff more than helpful.
We ordered several items in our chosen colour some of which were bespoke.
The advised lead time was 16 weeks and we waited hoping to be delighted.
Unfortunately this was not the case and despite the fact that each piece was labelled “QC checked by …….” this can only have been cursory or possibly not all.
Faults and poor paint were evident on some items. This caused us to look more closely at the construction. Don’t be fooled - this cheap. Some parts in fibreboard. Only visible surfaces painted .
After a robust conversation all the goods were returned and full refund made.
In summary; great showroom and staff, poor quality goods

We are very sorry that elements of your order did not meet expectations on arrival, particularly with the wardrobe and mirror. After the time you had waited, we fully appreciate how disappointing this must have felt.
Following your conversations with our team, we moved quickly to arrange for replacements to be made, including the adjustments you had requested. While doing so, we also took the opportunity to review the wardrobe construction in detail and have since refined how this is built going forward. We are sorry we were not able to bring this to a resolution you were happy with.
We’re also sorry if any aspects of the materials or finish came as a surprise. Our furniture is made using a combination of solid timber and high density engineered timber for strength and durability, and some less visible sections are not always fully painted. This is something we should have made more clear during your visits to the showroom.
We do appreciate your kind comments about our showroom team, and we’re pleased the collection and refund were handled smoothly for you.

It all started so well .............
If I had known then what I know now, I wouldn't have made this purchase. Everything was good up until the point of paying for the order. Sadly though, things went downhill from there. A delivery estimate of 10-12 weeks was given to me in early July. This actually turned into delivery after 20 weeks. I had previously tried to speak to the showroom on several occasions and left messages for someone to call me back. When I did manage to make contact after 12 weeks, I was told to estimate a further 4 weeks for delivery. 4 weeks later I received a call from the warehouse proposing a delivery date of a further 4 weeks time - which I accepted - late November - a total of 20 weeks after placing my order.
Delivery and assembly of my wardrobe went smoothly and the furniture looked good. What was not so good, however, was the eye-wateringly strong chemical smell emanating from the wardrobe. This, I now understand, is from the finish used on the paintwork. Despite it being quite overpowering, I've been assured it's not toxic. The delivery people said it would take 24 hours to clear. When. after about a week, the smell was still extremely powerful, I spoke to the showroom. At no time had I been warned to expect this smell. The assistant explained that the furniture is frequently 'aired' at the warehouse prior to delivery. Clearly this hadn't been done in my case. She told me that if the furniture smells, they normally advise clients to air the room for 1 week in summer and 2 in winter. She did offer to have my piece dismantled and returned to the warehouse for airing and then redelivered/constructed. When I declined, she sent me a Neutrogena capsule. I bought several more and kept these plus multiple bowls of Bicarbonate of Soda in the room and inside the wardrobe and kept the windows open all day for over 3 weeks. When the smell persisted I spoke to the showroom again. Whilst very apologetic, no further solutions were offered apart from the suggestion to use a fan. It's now mid-January and although the smell is less strong, it's still too strong for me to use it. Apparently it's from the coating used to make the paint less subject to damage.
In all, some 26 weeks after placing the order, I still don't have a usable wardrobe! This is a real shame as the initial experience, front of house showroom and design/drawings process were all good and the wardrobe looks nice (although one door is a bit lower than the other). Unfortunately though this has been overshadowed by the complete lack of follow-through/communicaton regarding the initial delivery delay and the total absence of any warning re potential issues with the overpoweringly pungent and persistent smell. There's also been no offer of compensation or any other gesture by way of mitigation. The result is that this has been a really disappointing experience and one which I would not repeat. If I had only known then what I know now ......................

The extended lead time you experienced was not acceptable, and we fully understand how upsetting it is when expectations are missed and communication does not feel clear or proactive enough. Over the past year we did experience staffing shortages and production bottlenecks, and while that gives context, it does not lessen the impact this had on you. We are sorry that this affected your order. Since then, we have been investing heavily in our workshop, increasing staffing levels, and modernising processes to help prevent this happening again.
We are particularly sorry about the ongoing paint smell you have described. We fully understand how distressing it must be to have furniture that still feels unusable so long after delivery. Due to the delays at that time, some furniture was delivered very soon after completion, and in colder winter months the off-gassing process can take considerably longer, as airflow and warmth play a large role in how quickly this dissipates. That said, we are sorry that you were not warned in advance and that the situation has persisted for so long. We would like to reassure you that we are more than happy to collect the wardrobe and bring it back to our warehouse for further investigation and airing if you would like us to do so.
We are also sorry for the communication issues you have raised. We understand that we spoke prior to Christmas regarding the paint smell and discussed the points you mention, and we were awaiting an update from you to see whether things had improved. That said, we accept that follow-up should have been clearer and more proactive, and we apologise that this added to your frustration. Our team have followed up again today.
This is not the experience we want any customer to have, and we are sorry that we fell short on this occasion. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention. We appreciate your patience and the opportunity to review what happened and how we can improve.

So pleased with my furniture
We are so pleased with our bedroom furniture that we bought from The Painted Furniture Company. Our experience with the company was exemplary from start to finish. From the start, the provision of free samples of the available colours was essential as colours represented online are never true; actual painted samples on wood as provided allowed me to choose the exact colour I needed. The customer service was excellent when I placed my order. When I rang to ensure that the order had been processed, the women I spoke to were so helpful and friendly, I had confidence that any further queries I had would be dealt with efficiently. Again, the customer service was excellent when it came to the delivery of my furniture; the first date suggested for delivery was not suitable for us but there was no trouble in changing tje delivery date to one where we were home to receive the furniture. Likewise, on the day of delivery we were kept updated with the expected time of arrival and the delivery arrived in good time that morning and at the predicted time. The two delivery men were absolutely brilliant; respectful of our home while delivering rhe furniture and they assembled the furniture expertly and efficiently all with a smile and good humour. They were all finished within half an hour. Now we have the most beautiful, excellent quality furniture to complete our bedroom. A brilliant experience throughout - we would highly recommend this company and would definitely purchase furniture from them again.
