I am running a small restaurant and…

I am running a small restaurant and joined them to help us with customer however the person who came to sign us misleading us to provide minimum 18 customers a month but none has been so far three weeks gone and ask them to cancel the contract, they sent me with the invoice of which covers the whole 12 months period it’s a joke , no customer at all , I will strongly recommend you not even to join them and don’t trust them

redeemed two Amazon gift vouchers (€10 each) through OpenTable but never received them.

I contacted their online chat support multiple times and several tickets were created. Each time I was told someone would respond within 24 hours, but it has now been over two weeks with no response and no vouchers.

Very disappointing customer service, and there is no direct email contact available to escalate the issue.

I simply want the €20 in Amazon vouchers that I redeemed or a proper explanation.

When we signed up with OpenTable

When we signed up with OpenTable, we were told that the first three months would be free and that if we decided not to continue after that period, we could cancel without any termination fee.

Unfortunately, we did not receive many customers through the platform and decided we wanted to stop using the service. However, we were later informed that it was a binding contract and that we could not cancel without paying a significant early termination fee.

At the time, our restaurant was already struggling with urgent financial obligations, and we were unable to keep up with the payments. As a result, our service was canceled and we were charged a very high early termination fee.

This experience has been extremely disappointing. Instead of supporting restaurants during difficult times, it feels like the focus is more on enforcing penalties than building long-term partnerships.

“Confirmed” A Bold New Interpretation

I recently discovered that on OpenTable, the word “confirmed” is less of a guarantee and more of an optimistic suggestion.

I made a reservation through the app. It was marked as confirmed. Naturally, I treated this as one might treat a confirmed reservation. As something that exists!

Unfortunately, the restaurant later informed me that the confirmation was automated, did not reflect live availability, required manual review, and that they had no space at the time.

Over the course of several days, and with the enthusiastic involvement of five separate OpenTable support agents, I learned the following:

• “Confirmed” means a reservation was created based on the restaurant’s configured settings.
• Restaurants can cancel confirmed bookings afterwards.
• Diners have no way to distinguish between live availability and bookings that require manual validation.
• There is no setting to ensure confirmations reflect tables that have actually been accepted by the venue.

In short: the app presents certainty, while structurally allowing uncertainty.

To be clear, I don’t object to restaurants retaining control over their floors. Of course they should. The issue is transparency. If a confirmed booking may still represent availability that doesn’t exist in practice, that fragility should be visible to the user at the point of booking.

Instead, the experience feels like this:

"Your table is confirmed."
Terms and existential conditions apply.

Customer support were polite throughout. Genuinely. But politeness cannot compensate for a system that uses definitive language to describe something that is not definitive.

If you are using OpenTable, I would suggest treating confirmations as enthusiastic intentions rather than secured arrangements.

One star for customer service stamina.
Minus four for redefining the English language.

Useless

Useless!
Notifications set up for when tables become available for a certain date, to find none available when you clicked the link straight away. Happened on numerous occasions.

Simon runs a great venue.

The White Lion in Tenterden is exemplary...Simon and his team are:Professional

Welcoming

Very well turned out AND produce excellent food.We usually have the jacket potatoes with beef ragout for me and mushroom filling for my husband..with drinks Bill=£27...excellent value.

In addition the place is warm(even on a Monday)

Thoroughly recommend. It elevates Tenterden.

No cancellations allowed - even with 8 days notice

On the 13th November I booked a table for 3 on the 22nd November at Beefy Boys Hereford. I used my credit card to secure the booking, agreeing that if I cancelled less than 72 hours before the booking I would be charged £20 per head. Today, 14th November, I discovered that one of our party has to work, so can't go, but Open Table don't allow me to cancel the booking - even though it's 8 days before the reservation date. There was no mention of this during the booking process.

I've previously used this website…

I've previously used this website plenty of times with no issues however, you now can't get a notification about cancellations/bookings opening without downloading the app. This is extremely annoying: I do not want to add another totally unnecessary app to my phone so I guess I'll do without the service.

Privacy Issues

I used the app to book a table at short notice I didnt get confirmation and had to call.

My may concern is privacy. The company will check and share all if your information and details straight away.

You will click terms and conditions to progress and not be aware. Your name email and telephone number are then released to the wild.

Deletion if your account is only available on ios.

The website form will not accept your details.

You will need to email the privacy email.

All utterly unethical.

about La Petite Maison very bad experience

I would like to complain about la petite maison restaurant in London UK the lady ( her name is Fet) she was rude and the manager as well we had ordered all at the same time we got the food except one of the guests and they were Saudi Arabia royal family members we asked why didn’t we get that meal the managers answer answer was the kitchen closed!! The water glasses smelled bad they did not even bother to apologize for the missed dish we ordered and never got this will be the last time we reserve at this rude place

I booked a table for 2 for Saturday 6th…

I booked a table for 2 for Saturday 6th September 7pm at La Piccola restaurant in Heath Street Hampstead NW3 on opentable.co.uk. I made the booking 2 days ago. I received a confirmation on the website with an extra request for me to fill in my mobile phone number and email. Then they confirmed my booking for 6th September.
When I arrived at the restaurant this evening at 7pm, the manager had no record of my reservation and because they were almost full they repeatedly tried to persuade us to leave. We did not leave. They finally squeezed us in. But it was an unpleasant experience as I and the restaurant had clearly been massively let down. I will never to use opentable.co.uk again since I can't be doing with such inefficiency
