I particularly appreciated the ease with which I could call Kerry about the progress of the purchase, along with her willingness to answer questions. This was highly reassuring as a first time buyer. Following my property purchase, I complained to the Legal Ombudsman about New Homes Law's poor service, communication and repeated broken promises. The firm agreed, through the Legal Ombudsman, to pay me £200 in settlement. I provided my bank details on 25 June and, at the firm’s insistence, signed a statement confirming the complaint was 'dismissed', not 'settled' and 'upheld' - terms used by the ombudsman. Despite this, the agreed payment was not made within the 14-day timeframe set by the Legal Ombudsman. After I had to chase both the firm and the Legal Ombudsman, the firm contacted me again to reconfirm my bank details, despite already having them. Payment was still not made on time, over one week later.
In my experience, the way the settlement itself was handled reflected the same poor communication and unnecessary delays that led to my original complaint. While the compensation was eventually agreed, I was disappointed that I had to continue chasing the firm even after the Legal Ombudsman became involved.

After almost 8 months my sale and purchase failed. This was a relatively straightforward transaction (FTB and no chain). I experienced a catalogue of poor communication, missed deadlines and slow progress. I raised a formal complaint mid way through the process which was upheld. I received assurances that things would improve. Clearly they did not. Please avoid this firm.

They were a good solicitor to go for, they conducted thorough research and analysis on the property which I was made to buy, and they did it at a reasonable time.
Would have been better if they could expedite their researches during the enquiry phase of the process, as it has taken over four to five months to fully complete the process, which other law firms would have completed within three months or less.

Luke Lucas was the initial point of contact but Niamh Tedder became my constant. Nothing was to much trouble, I was able to go to their offices to sign various documents. All the staff when I ‘phoned where very helpful and tried to assist where they could.
