On our recent visit to Darlington branch we found the staff very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble

PERFECT SERVICE ON MY VISIT TODAY TO NEWCASTLE BUILDING SOCIETY. STAFF WERE VERY HELPFULL AND KNOWLEDGEABLE.

After saving in a fixed ISA for 5 years and 1 month at approx 2%, the early exit penalty is one year's interest any time before this date, with only 2 days' notice before they drop the money into a very poorly-paying account. Why is Newcastle so out of line with other providers? Beware careful savers - it's all in the small print! Oh, and they tell you it's maturing 14 days before the end of the 61 months but you can't do anything until 48 hours before the end of the 61 months!

Terrible service and tedious bank to deal with. If you are able Do Not Use their services. Nothing near helpul or understanding of providing a good customer service.

Excellent service by the staff at the Northumberland Street Branch, very efficient hassle free in sorting my requests.

I'm disappointed I won't be able to do a savings account on this occasion with this building society as they are asking too much on how to write the cheque. I find it impossible to fit all the wording they expect eg Newcastle Building Society, my name and account number on the first line, it's even a terrible squeeze if my name is omitted as an advisor said I could do which I did. Sadly my bank didn't wish to accept the cheque maybe because of my name omitted from the first line. I wasn't given the option of a debit card payment on the phone, just cheque or bank transfer and now it's too late as done something else but hopefully next time

Very dishonest. prevented me from renewing my mortgage so that they could charge me a higher interest rate which cost me thousands of pounds. Newcastle tried to remove my reviews. I am considering legal action against them as I'm very upset about about how they've treated me.

They have staff, and for me this is important. There is always a friendly and efficient member of staff to assist.

Very efficient, my account was available to login to in less than a day. No issues at all.

As a new customer, the application process and accompanying explanations were straightforward from start to finish.

Impossible customer service. Wished to discuss my current mortgage product but endless calls to contact centre, get usual garbage "due to unprecedented call volumes, blah blah". Simply not good enough that I cannot get through to my mortgage lender on the phone. Oh, and the form to book an appointment on your website doesn't work...no " prove you are human" entry possible!

Competent, knowledgeable, helpful and unhurried handling of our financial affairs. What more can you ask for?
