Not worth a star!

Poor ‘full service’ experienced at Cannock branch. Had to have my Ford repaired at another garage following my service and they showed me evidence of a poor service and bits that was not checked or replaced even though paperwork said it had been!
Still waiting for a response from National/Halfords

Yesterday my partner and 12 year old…

Yesterday my partner and 12 year old daughter had picked a screw up in the rear tyre at Asda she rang me upset not knowing what do as the tyre was hissing air and the tyre pressure monitor was on red as we have always used national tyres for few years purchasing a number of new branded tyres I said drive straight there for her to be told sorry we are to busy so she had go back to Asda and ring the RAC as the car has no spare just the liquid to repair and she has no idear of how to do that you are discussing and we family and friends will never bring a car to you again and I'll make sure nobody I know does either having sent many people your way your a disgrace leaving and women in tears with my 12 year old daughter you could of at least put some air in for her to get Home

National Tyres was fantastic

National Tyres was fantastic, great lads who helped and were honest. Since Halfords have taken over they have gone down the pan. Told my wife she needed two new tyres to pass the MOT, sold her the most expensive ones. On reading the MOT sheet ready for this years MOT, it clearly states the tyres that they replaced were 4mm and they had put it as "advised" . She does around 4k miles a year. They have destroyed all the good will that National Tyres had built up and I won't be returning

Rude staff

Rude staff! No one wants to engage with you when you’ve been asked a question. Took advantage of the fact and I was by myself as a young women who just took her car to have an MOT and treated me with no respect. Spoke to me extremely rudely, as if I was a child. Definitely don’t go her for any of your car needs there are definitely better places to go around Cannock! Honestly awful

Awful customer service AVOID

Awful customer service AVOID. Receptionist acts like you have ruined her day asking questions, so miserable, Took my business elsewhere where people know how to greet customers and assist with their needs.

They did a major service and mot in…

They did a major service and mot in February 2025. July 2025 I had what seemed like a puncture on a brand new tyre they fitted during the service. I called RAC and they told me there was something wrong with the suspension, which was new and done during the service, or with the wheel alignment. I had to buy 2 brand new tyres of the day of the puncture because I was advised I might not make it home. I went to National tyres Cannock, who did the service and mot, and they told me I was supposed to come back for a check of the suspension a month after the service but they never told me that nor was there any reason for me to go back since there was nothing wrong with the car that I noticed. They said they couldn’t help me because the warranty on the service was 5 months, which was not communicated to me. I was completely dismissed and they said the best I could do was to call head office for a refund on the tyres. I called head office and they said the shop in Cannock told them they informed me to come back with the car after working a month of the service and mot but that’s a blatant lie. Head office told me they could only refund me for one tyre which was completely shocking to me.

I brought my Renault Captur in after…

I brought my Renault Captur in after receiving an "anti-pollution system" warning shortly following a service and MOT at this garage. I called ahead and was told to drop the car off the next morning, which I did — only to be told they don’t carry out that kind of check and was redirected elsewhere.

When I asked about checking the wheels and brakes (which had recently been replaced), I was told they could do it, but only if I waited, with little clarity or interest shown.

To be honest, I felt dismissed — as though because I didn’t use technical language, my concerns weren’t taken seriously. I left feeling ignored and disappointed. I expected more care and better communication, especially when dealing with post-service issues and safety-related concerns.

Too expensive

Had a tyre blowout and was taken to National by recovery. Extortionate tyre prices which on average were £40 more expensive than Eurofit. Was give price of tyre which I had no alternative to take only to find on payment it didn’t include fitted price with VAT.
Miserable unhelpful staff, standing around.

They damaged my van

My brakes needed changing soon on my Transit Van but the booking with my regular mechanic was 2 weeks away and they were getting worse by the day. I desperately need my van for work and couldn't really afford to have time off or get behind so I decided to stop by national tyres and they offered to fit them the same day, which was great. I was quoted £670 for front discs and pads which is ridiculously expensive. However having them fit the same day was a great convenience so I bit the bullet and went ahead.

A couple hours later I drove away assuming all was good but something wasn't quite right. The following day coming home from work I was having to press my brake pedal very firmly for it to brake at all. Then I noticed an inconsistent screeching sound. So I went back and complained.

They got it up on a ramp to check it out and said that the drivers side disc they fitted was very slightly warped. They said it must have been a defect. So they ordered a replacement and fitted it the next day. After collecting I drove away and the brakes seemed to be working more efficiently. Or so I thought...

A day or so later and the problem was back only this time worse. My brake pedal is now pulsating. This was starting to get frustrating now. Going back and forth and round in circles when I'm trying to run a business. I went back and complained again and they kind of denied responsibility. They said they're happy to take another look but they've pretty much done all they can at this point.

After looking at it for about an hour they told me it's possibly 1 of 2 problems or maybe both. They said the nearside disc is completely fine. But the offside disc isn't aligning round the wheel hub properly. They said it's a little strange and haven't seen this before and it may just be down to the brand of discs they used (Delphi). The other reason was my brake caliper looks faulty - but advised changing the entire brake system first before assuming it's the caliper.

So again the van was booked in for the following day to have the discs and pads completely replaced with a different brand. After the work was completed I collected the van and they told me the problem still persists unfortunately so it must be your drivers side caliper. They gave me a quote for a new caliper and brake fluid change but I was done bringing my van back here. I didn't trust them and I'd already spent £670 and lost time at work.

Now fortunately for myself I never cancelled my booking with my regular mechanic. So on the 14th August I had them look at my van and explained to them what happened at national tyres.

Turns out when my brake discs were removed the wheel hubs have got damaged. Not just the drivers side either, both sides apparently. Also there is nothing wrong with my caliper. Sure it's an old caliper but it's fit for purpose and certainly not the reason my brake pedal is pulsating. Because the hubs are damaged they have warped the new disc plates.

In order to overcome this I may need to have new hubs installed and obviously new brake discs too. My mechanic advised I return to National Tyres and demand they offer a fair solution since none of these symptoms were present before they changed my brakes and a lot of money was paid. My mechanic charges between 3 and £400 for the same job so they practically spat their drink out when I said it cost £670. Anyway I returned once more and they denied all responsibility and had zero interest in sorting the problem.

My van is now booked in with my mechanic on the 21st August and I shall be acquiring a formal report of the damage.

What I intend to do next - When my van is finally repaired, this story shall be written up formally to your customer service team with the opportunity to either refund me £670 or at least cover the costs of the repairs. Failing to respond within 30 days will then leave me no choice but to submit a small claims form.

If you don't mind me saying so it's pretty clear that your staff are not competent enough to diagnose mechanical problems accurately. And the fact they deny responsibility for damage is absolutely disgusting.

Avoid like the plague !

I went in to get my discs and pads changed on my Mercedes C-class as they were worn badly and needed my car for work the next day, they said it would be £930 for disc and pads which is ridiculously expensive but I had no choice as I was on my way home from work and needed the car the next day. When I asked why it was so expensive they told me they only used the highest quality parts so I had them do the work, the next day I could hear noise coming from the drivers side rear wheel which continued for a couple of weeks, then my car was in for its MOT 3 weeks later and failed on my breaks being bound up at the back and the handbrake not being connected properly and the shoes not being replaced. when I told them I’d just had my discs and pads done they couldn’t believe it and said I should take it straight back to national tyre as the work they had done was terrible, but working 6 days a week this wasn’t an option and i needed to get my car through its MOT so I paid another £180 for them to put it right. The thing that bothers me the most is when the mechanics looked at my car I was told national tyre had used cheap and nasty parts and could not fathom how they’d charged me so much and used such bad parts,that’s a lesson learned on looking I can’t find another garage that charges over £650 for the work that national tyre did and that’s using high spec discs and pads ……AVOID AT ALL COSTS !

sold tyres they didnt have

ordered 2 tyres, received various messages for fitting time and to 15 mins early.. booked car in on time told tyres in transit so waited.. only to be informed 20 minutes later they havent got the tyres.. basically sold tyres they didnt have.. took time off work for fitting. was told 'your not the only one' had no apology from the company. I sent an email on Thursday 7/3 to your resolution expert and still waiting for a reply!
