Kingston Vets

Kingston Vets

If I could put no star's I would. Kingston Vets is just a money making corporate business that has no regard for your pets welfare, just how much money they can generate from you in a time of need.

Just over 3 weeks ago now I had to take Ronnie my 9 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier to Kingston Vets as he had several seizure's, which had never happened before, blood test were taken and we were informed they were normal and to just monitor him. Fast forward to a day later and he had a large seizure and was taken to emergency Vets to Diana Sanchez at their Park Street site, this time large doses of seizure medication were prescribed and he was never the same again unable to walk properly, feed himself, whinning and pacing the floor, intially we were informed it could be side effects of medications and battled on which was heart breaking see your furry family member suffering. again we attended the practice, at this point having seen how poorly he was i was at the stage of was it time to put him to rest, but again they change his medication and his symptoms worsen. Despite calling the vets several times to discuss his decline, medication were increased and decreased and near the end telephone calls not returned by the vet in his case, to the point that on the 8th August 2026 we were emotionally drained, he was whinning continuously and unable to walk and we contacted the vets that evening asking if the could advise anything to help, but they informed us they would call me back the following day when they had reviewed the notes. On speaking to them on Sunday they were in agreement with that he should be put to sleep.

I paid for an independent vet to attend and put our beautiful boy to sleep at home, she checked his vital signs and confirmed he had no vision, pupil were not reactive or reflexes and he had nerological problems and that euthanasia was in his best interests.

I am so disappointed and upset with Kingston Vets as they just prolonged his suffering, for what I can only assume is to generate over priced costs and vet bills.

I dont want to make this about money as my only desire was to save my Ronnie and not too let him suffer and I would have paid any cost so he could be well, but Kingston just prolonged his suffering for what I can only imagine is financial gain when your in a place of vulnerability and reliant on there help and guidance.

9 years ago I took Ronnie as a puppy to Kingston Vets at Holderness Road site and the staff there were fantastic (Amy and Mariana), but now it has evolved into a service were everything revolves around the money generated and not the animal welfare/health.

Over recent weeks ive had mix emotion around Kingston Vets for the poor service Ronnie received, anger, upset and frustration but now its just overall disapointment and a feeling of let down by your service. As im sure when the likes of Diana Sanchez became vet and her colleagues, it was for there love of the animals and thats why they studied and trained so hard to be in this career, but the corporate business running the vets have taken that away from them to make money from the families and animals they care for. I hope they can reflex on the service they are providing and show some empathy for the familys and animals they serve, so in years to come they dont look back and there whole career has been to make money out of people and pets for a business.

If anyone is seeking to join a vets practice I would avoid Kingston Vets at all cost as it revolves around making money and not your pets health.

Koda had the most incredible care

Had the most incredible experience with the Park Street emergency team on Sunday. Our little Shih Tzu Koda, had been absolutely fine, and within minutes started vomiting, lost control of her bowels and went limp on us. We called up and got her in as quickly as we could. The amazing vet who saw her (I won’t leave full names for privacy, but his initial is K), examined her and admitted her without hesitation. We genuinely thought we were going to lose her. K called me every couple of hours up until the evening with updates, plenty of medication and IV fluids. She ended up staying in for two nights.

It seems she had AHDS and her body went into shock and this has affected her pancreas. After the first day, I was called regularly with lovely updates from the team, they bathed her and gave her lots of cuddles on our behalf. I genuinely felt like the whole team had time for us even when I was overthinking and asking lots of questions, at no point did I ever feel rushed, I was listened to and given lots of advice.

We’ve picked Koda up today and she’s at home getting lots of rest, cuddles and love. The team even offered to deal with my pet insurance for me which has really taken the pressure off at such an incredibly stressful time.

Honestly, K and the rest of the team, I genuinely feel like we owe you so much for saving her and looking after her, and us as much as you did. We will be forever grateful for the level of care that you’ve provided. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Very disappointing experience

Very disappointing experience. The practice failed to carry out the procedure properly and now refuses to accept any responsibility.

We were present during the appointment and witnessed that our cat’s microchip was not scanned before the rabies vaccination was administered. Despite this, the practice insists that everything was done correctly and relies on assumptions rather than facts.

As a direct result of this oversight, we lost a significant amount of money, experienced delays, and faced unnecessary stress when arranging our pet’s travel documentation.

The most concerning part is not the mistake itself, but the refusal to acknowledge it. A complete lack of accountability and professionalism. I would not recommend this practice, especially for pet travel requirements.

Beware

We had a very disappointing experience at every level within the practice. As a result we have moved our pet to another practice.
After preliminary investigations, our pets condition was presented to us and immediately we were presented with options, both of which were life changing for our pet. Hours later we were advised that the costs had been pre-approved for the insurers and we were asked to quickly make our decision on which course of action. Given the gravity we chose to take the biopsy and our dog to another local practice who carefully reviewed the whole case and calmy explained the situation, giving us sufficient detail to firstly understand the nature of the condition, and secondly which path would be considered most appropriate at this stage. Although the basics of the condition was the same at both practices, the options and advice for treatment were considerably different and no pressure was applied to make a swift decision. When we attempted to discuss the situation with Kingston, and to request a review, we were eventually offered a response by letter following an 'internal review'. The letter contradicted the response we had received at the time of the consultation, we were left mystified. We, the client, were not even approached as part of the review, which makes the whole process completely worthless and invalid. Elements of our request were ignored entirely and ate still being ignored. We have offerred to attend a meeting or speak on the phone but directors are ' in all day meetings' and unavailable. We still await a proper review but everyone at the practice is unwilling to speak with us in person or by phone.

Favoritism

I was once happy with Kingston vets service i paid into the pet health scheme for 12 years . This was for the flea worm & annual inoculation. I used pdsa for her heart medication as being a pensioner could not afford kingston vets prices.
my beautiful pooch passed away last July aged 18 I got no letter sending condolences from them😡 i would not have given a second thought untill my relative who paid big amounts for treatments given by Kingston vets she received a card with condolences so if your paying to see the vet you get special treatment 😡

Absolutely disgusted with this practice…

Absolutely disgusted with this practice After being a loyal customer for 14+ years they have become a money grabbing bunch. Quoted one price then charged 3 times the amount. Drag out treatment with unnecessary follow ups and demanding testing that I found out is totally unnecessary according to UK standards. Will not be going back

Rabbit aftercare treatment

My grand daughter had to have her rabbit undergo an operation due to spike growing on its molars. Kingston vets did the operation abd gave him the all clear although it was a different vet that saw him each time. She was concerned 2 days later as he wasn't eating so contacted the vets who said she would have to bring him in to be seen, they said they didn't know what the problem was and maybe he should be seen by an expert in York then to make matters worse they then told her she needed to pay £200 for the consultation that it what i call profiteering as she paid for the operation and the medication for his aftercare.i am totally disgusted with Kingston vetsxand will be taking our pets to another vets in the future and would recommend other people do the same as they are all cheaper than Kingston vets. They have no compassion at all and are so disrespectful especially to a young girl who cannot afford there prices and who obviously thought they would see her rabbit for free seen as though they had carried out the operation only a week before. People be aware of the extortionate prices they charge.

Terrible vets…

Took my 8 yr old pug as he had a bad leg......he had 4 appointments everytime seeing a different vet..the first app without a proper examination i was told to be prepared to b cruel to be kind....after health checks it was decided my pug needed 2 teeth out.booked him in for the extraction.when I picked him up I was told they had took 21 teeth out......without my consent....the next day he was rushed back to the vets with a massive ear infection.......so bad his lobe was stuck together...the next day I realised he could no longer see......his sight was perfectly fine before the vets took his teeth out.....4 vets looked at him and never said his eyes were failing...now my cherished dog has got half his life in darkness thanks to neglect. I have emailed them 3 weeks ago.and they have not even had the decency to contact me. The lovely vet we followed here modesta has left....he really cared about the animals now it's all about money . We will never go back

Trust pilot firstly give a minus…

Trust pilot firstly give a minus option. My real score is minus 100%. I took my great dane with a torn skin tag so it was only connected to her body buy a few millimeters. They cut it off used a little anesthestic and approx 3 stitches and took max 15 minutes. Yes she is a big dog but this treatment cost £1033 so they are working on £4k an hour!!!!!!! Wish my doctor son earnt that. The staff seemed miserable then I bought flea and worming tablets £200 just checked on line they cost £100.50 and I assume vets get discounts but if they don't 100% profit is so greedy. Then finally I was called by a women trying to sell some annual check up for £36 per month and I politely told her to go away. Please stay away from these money grabbing creatures. There is an independent vet at Driffield and Bridlington called Aldgate vets please go to them i know it's a long drive but they are all lovely especially the vet I saw called Giles but you will thank me. Great service and reasonably priced. Stay away from these evil people 🤬😈😡👹👺

Avoid Cottingham Road practise

14 years of fantastic service from the Beverley Road branch, 1 visit to the Cottingham branch and vet Barbara Wynn has what I can only describe as AWFUL people skills! I could go in to more detail but then the review may not get posted but I left there having zero confidence in her ‘diagnostic’ and rebooking to visit another branch for actual professional and trustworthy advice. She didn’t listen to my answers and basically getting me to diagnose my dog - I’m not the qualified professional?! Please AVOID Cottingham Branch if you have an appointment with this person.

Broken Hearted then billed

Broken Hearted. We lost a Massive member of our family at the age of 3 years old he was fully insured and raised a large bill over 8k through operations etc and if i am honest the staff and the Vets did a good job.

However i revived a bill from the Kingston asking me to pay over £1600 for him being over 4 years old and i had to pay 20%? apparently it is in my insurance as a clause. As you can imaging after losing a 70kg dog at such a young age hurt the family a lot then to receive a bill that you was not expecting was a shock and made the pain worse.

on investigation of my policy the bill was incorrect i owed nothing? we lost him at the age of 3 years old not 4 also my policy stated that it was only 10% at the age of 4 and 20% at the age of 6? so i had to email my policy highlight the areas where it stated the ages to prove that the bill was incorrect we owed nothing. Then i was asked to get my insurance to haste the payment as they are not willing to wait the backlog.

Why as a customer for over 9 years never owing any money would i be asked for a £1600 invoice that needed to be paid in 7 days before getting a late payment fees when we are fully insured and all excess was paid?

I think i will be looking for a new vets as customers we should not be treated like that.

Didn’t feel welcomed at their Anlaby…

Didn’t feel welcomed at their Anlaby practice at all. I had my toddler and pram with me and was struggling to get it through their front door due to it being so narrow and having a steep step. I put my puppy on the floor so I could hold my toddlers hand so he didn’t run off into the middle of the road and the lady working there shouted at me for doing so. I won’t be going there again and will be cancelling my membership after the year. I don’t think one member of staff smiled when I was in there.

Kingston vets crazy dental procedure

My family have used Kingston vets for years. The price has been going up constantly in the last few years. £67 for a consultation which is over £20 more than other vets in the area.

My poor dog needed teeth removed, they said they needed to do 2 procedures. The first bloods, X-ray and clean under anaesthetic -£840. Brought my pug round and told me she needed all teeth removing asap a further £2300. Why clean teeth that will be removed in a couple of weeks?

Went to vets4pets £46 consultation. £860 to complete all of the above procedures.

No one understands the two part procedure Kingston vets complete. Poor dogs going through it twice for no reason.

Shame on Kingston vets.

DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SERVICE

Took my both little dogs for their yearly boosters and check up.I didnt have to pay because iam in with pet health plan.Which is £21.00 a mouth each dog,Which covers all this.I Told the nurse I think my dog got a ear infection.she took him in the back to have a look came back said yes I was right. Then next thing she said he will need medication she told me the price then said about the charge for them to have alook which was £68.00 I was so annoyed has this was not mentioned at the time. The vet just wanted money of you it felt like adding it all up telling me how much things were. She also said she would want to see him again which cost again.I told her its her fault i should not have to pay this.I thought this was cover with the check up to have a quick second look in his ear.Nurse went away came back and said that they are happy to wave this off for me because she got told she should had said this to me at the start so she said to do this she can give him his booster what he came in for.Came away went to a pets at home and got him some ear medication.Iam going to cancel my pet health club and go to a different vets from now on.

Money grabbing

Money grabbing. They lied to me. They charged me £10.15 for a collar they claimed my dog used in their care, which I knew wasn’t true. So after paying, I decided to cancel. Despite being a customer for years, when I canceled a few months ago, my account was closed and direct debits stopped.

Now, I’ve just received an email stating I owe £226.51 because apparently, you can’t cancel halfway through the year. First I’ve heard of it. From that first email, they are only giving me 14 days to pay before increasing it by 14% and sending it to a debt collector.
