Good easy process and experience
Would do business again in the future

Since the first day we picked up the car there is issues with it, needed to get the AA out and turns out that its not been services before we received the car, 2 glow pugs need replaced and also there are some wiring that's been chewed from a mouse resulting in the car not even running, in other words this car was never checeked to standard, we are very disspaointed

Bought our car online from here and the service has been so professional. They kept us informed from day one, even a follow up call the next day to make sure everything was fine. Everyone is so lovely too. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone

Faulty from the get go…
I arrived to collect my 2019 Range Rover evoque, was met with a warm welcome and given keys to look around my new car first initial impressions car was not valeted to the standard you would expect when going to collect a new car. This was flagged up with the salesman to which his reply was “we will get this sorted for you but it is a used car” once the car was cleaned the salesman then appeared back to say all of a sudden a light had appeared on my dash (engine management light) This is where my gut started to churn but salesman said we will go and plug it in and get this checked over.
A good 45minutes to an hour later the salesman appears back and inform me that it was just a low battery fault and in his words “the car just needs a good run”. This is where I should have researched further to realise engine management lights do not appear when there is only a low battery.
Should have trusted my gut there and then but car was purchased and I started my drive home.. 50miles up along the road and the light appears back on.. called again to be told it still just needs a good run, continued home another 100miles light decides to go off then come on again a few days later, car was agreed to be looked at locally considering the distance I travelled to collect the car, diagnostics taken place and the faults on the car were catastrophic (timing chain issues) and there was no recognition or history of previous battery faults found from garage..
funnily enough when I phoned John clark select they had no log of the fault code that had came up when plugged in on the day of collection either.
I understand that cars can develop faults but this car quite clearly had issues before it was even collected!.
I was made to feel a nuisance from start to finish with the purchase of this car and thereafter of course the rejection process and receiving my refund.
Every time I was having to call and chase up the process, emails were being ignored, at the end of the day this is there job I have not had to go through this before and I feel even to just take five minutes out of your day to contact me and explain exactly how the whole process works and what I would expect (even just a timeline and a bit of reassurance).
There hasn’t even been one apology from them as to what has happened and how it has been dealt with, being without a car for nearly a month caused a lot of undue stress for myself trying to get to work etc when I vocalised this I got a short sharp reply from the manager “well you chose to reject the car, otherwise we would have kept you mobile in another vehicle”.
As soon as I expressed a possible interest in purchasing another vehicle I was inundated with phone calls again trying to get a sale.
Bottom line.. Sales of vehicles and after sales needs a major revamp I’ve came away from the whole experience feeling extremely deflated and confidence well and truly knocked.
Would never recommend or use this garage again.

My experience was nothing short of shambolic. I travelled with my wife from Ireland to Edinburgh to buy a 2021 vehicle at the top end of what this company stock, however it had been blatantly misrepresented.

After a significant exchange via WhatsApp (which included a clear indication that I would be travelling a considerable distance and didn’t want to waste their/my time and asking very specific questions in terms of any interior/exterior damage) I was sent a video and was assured that this vehicle was not in need of any body work. I also queried a mark on the interior and was assured that this was dirt rather than a scratch.. On the basis of these indications I agreed the purchase in mid-April ‘24. However, it subsequently transpired that the advertised price was not the actual price, there was an administration fee of £149 which had not previously been disclosed! In any event, a deal was reached and I paid a deposit of £500.

I advised the company’s salesman of the date of my travel a week in advance with arrival to Edinburgh Airport at 9am on the agreed date at the end of April, as I was hoping to drive thereafter to Cairnryan to take the vehicle home by ferry.

On the confirmed collection date despite the airport being literally 5 minutes from the showroom the courtesy of a pick-up was not offered. I duly attended at 10am (as requested by the salesman) and waited for almost 30 minutes only to be told that the vehicle was still being valeted. I was allowed a quick look at the vehicle in the valet shed and was given a courtesy vehicle and was told that I would be contacted at noon when it should be ready. I was eventually contacted after 1pm and told that the vehicle was ready. I travelled back to the showroom, arrived just before 2pm and the vehicle was still not ready!

When I eventually got to look at the vehicle in daylight I immediately noticed quite a significant dent to the rear p/s bumper which would definitely require body shop repair. There were also other exterior scrapes and scratches. Also, the interior ‘dirt’ turned out to a scrape on the leather after all and there was other quite significant interior wear, tear and damage. To compound matters, the vehicle had been valeted at the last minute, but was still not properly clean with filthy seatbelts, an odour and a presence of dog hair.

A waste of time and money to see something that was simply not as described. There was clear misrepresentation here, at best totally careless and at worst, blatant lies.

A manager was gracious enough to apologise and offered to transport us to the city centre in order that we could reset and make flight arrangements to get back home. Other than that, the after-care was non-existent. We were assured that the issues would be notified to the general manager and a review undertaken and to date, I have heard absolutely nothing.

Incidentally, it has subsequently transpired that the salesman’s mobile number was his personal number (unconnected to the Company) and this has left me feeling quite uneasy in terms of GDPR and the use of my personal data.

A thoroughly disappointing and costly experience. In addition, to my detriment and major regret, in anticipation of taking this vehicle home and to finance the purchase, we sold our own car in advance. We are now without a vehicle.

Given the size and scale of the John Clark businesses, their various franchises and for a company that apparently does 60% of its business online I’d have thought that trust and integrity would be key, and that I’d be able to take them on their word. Unfortunately this was not the case. I would not advise anyone to agree a purchase from this company without seeing/inspecting their chosen vehicle in person.

The experience I had was entirely at odds with the JC Company’s core values which refer to accountability, honesty, exceptional customer experience, dependability, trustworthiness and transparency. My experience was precisely the opposite.

Disappointing at the extreme.

I’m not in my best health and have trouble with my mobility. The help and patience I received was A++. I’ve been to other show rooms where I was ignored and the difficulty of looking at their cars was too much that I just left and drove home.
They also showed me the different financial opportunities how to buy the car and took their time so I understood them enough so I could work out best for me.
I’ll be using this garage for years to come and though I drove up from Newcastle, it was well worth it. I can’t praise them enough

I recently bought a jaguar e pace from this garage and from start to finish I have been very happy with my experience. The process was made so easy and Joshua who was dealing with me has been great! The car is fab and I absolutely love driving it! Thank you.

An unethical and unscrupulous outfit.

Sold a second hand 66 plate Volvo V90 with 24,000 miles in the clock in July 2023.

Now suffering from catastrophic rust to rear subframe. John Clark denying all responsibility for this, claiming it was fine when they sold it.

Four separate mechanics and engineers have said that looking at the extent of the rust that is highly unlikely.

John Clark Volvo Edinburgh, happy to take the money and even more worrying a potential death trap but unwilling to take responsibility.

Bought the car on line without seeing it. Great personalised video sent and constant updates from Joshua. Gave me confidence paying for a vehicle I've not seen. The car was perfect. As described. Would happily buy again from them. Cheers Josh

Fast service. I bought a car (including financing approval) within a week. The car was prepared and delivered as expected. I am a foreigner and had many UK-specific questions; all of them were answered. Joshua Drever was my sales manager. He dedicated plenty of time to working with me on completing the purchase (unlike some other dealers I approached while searching for a car). Just come to visit the dealer, ask for Joshua, explain what you need, and you will be happy.

I traveled up to Collect the car,had a warm reception from Joshua.
He showed me around the car with good knowledge and attention to detail,all in all,everything went very smoothly and I couldn’t be happier with the car,it was spotless inside and out.

One star is too much. Still waiting for a problem which was notified 4 weeks ago to be resolved. Nobody follows up queries or bothers to contact you. Awful customer service, the worst I have ever known. Just pray you do not have any problems with any car you purchase from them.

I have had to resort to posting a review on here given the total lack of response to my email and website contact form queries. Zero attempt from John Clark Edinburgh to resolve a long drawn out (12 months without resolution) and totally unsatisfactory after sales experience.

We purchased our car in March 2023 from stock at Perth branch and John Clark Motorchoice (now known and John Clark Select) agreed to deliver it to Edinburgh branch for our collection. Upon delivery we discovered that scratches to bodywork and alloys which we were assured would be repaired, had not been. We reported this within one day via email with great detail and photographs however the member of staff who sold us the car promptly left the business and did not provide any handover information relating to fixing the car to the next member of staff. Had to continually call and explain the situation to multiple staff across two separate branches. We were then handed over to another member of staff and finally managed to arrange the repair (agreed between managers that it would be undertaken at Edinburgh branch), when it was abruptly cancelled due to their supplier being unavailable. No date was given for rescheduling. Further back and forth to attempt to rearrange then dried up when once again the member of staff left the business without telling us and did not hand over any information to colleagues. A WHOLE YEAR ON we are back at the start again having to explain the situation from scratch while staff at John Clark show zero interest in acknowledging emails or repairing the car to the agreed upon condition of sale. Most recent phonecall we were told that it was not Edinburgh branch's problem and we would have to start again with Perth. My request for a call back from the Edinburgh branch manager was ignored. They clearly do not care one bit having got our money. Totally unacceptable and just appalling customer service! Difficult to comprehend their approach given that it is only a couple of hours' body work required.

Despite numerous issue with the finance being arranged, in order to purchase Vauxhall Corsa, Joshua was patient, supportive and very helpful.

He was as relived as I was when the finance came through and I was able to pick up the car!!!

Brilliant work ethic all round

I was interested in a 2 year old BMW 5 series and Josh was engaged and informative about explaining the features - and differences - from my existing BMW. The new infomatics systems on these cars do benefit from someone who can demonstrate the capabilities clearly. Josh has this ability. Moreover Josh was very good on the insurance policy extras he upsold to me - especially on accessing/using the Premia Solutions insurance. Josh followed up reliably on phone messages I left. I would recommend him.
