Went for an interview for bank staff at hambleton grange in thirsk and was told I could work around university and that I could work hours to suit me. Came in for training and the home manager was awful, rude and didn’t seem to have a clue how to run a care home, although she definitely would come first in a ‘spinning around on your chair’ competition. Her deputy managers were running round like headless chickens with the carers running around trying to help them too meanwhile no offer of help from the home manager. The staffing levels were appalling, the home managers attitude towards me and another trainee was shocking threatening us with dismissal before we even began as we asked if we could start at 7:30 instead of 7. I offered her 4 days I could work earlys and she wouldn’t allow me these days and said I had to work the 3 days I said I couldn’t do. HR were shocking and didn’t help one bit, safe to say I will never go back and I would certainly never advise someone to put their loved one in that home. Appalling for a care home. HC1 are taking over it currently and it seems no better and again there HR is appalling too.

My dad was accepted in elworth grange on the thursday.9days later we got him transfered to a proper home, not an all inclusive holiday camp for geriatics with no needs what so ever.
They hadnt got a clue on dementia care.
And the worst of all.senior management¿?

I use to work at Lydgate Lodge and I had the worst experience ever. I saw people who worked there over worked alot of staff who have said no to not working and having a their days off but makes them still work. I got no holidays working there I felt bullied by the day staff and all the mangers who work there. The day staff barley looked after or cleaned the residents properly and blamed the night staff for their mistakes as well. I did hear how bad they talked about the residents there and the staff the management did.

By far the best dementia care home we have visited. The staff at Ash Tree House are not only professional but polite and welcoming. The quality of care is excellent and the standard of hygiene is extremely high. The home cooked food is delicious and always serviced in the dining room with clean and fresh table linen.
I can't praise the care home enough.
