Just spent two nights three days at the Doubletree Hilton in York. Stayed B&B. Hotel room was lovely and clean, bathroom and shower huge. The breakfast was great choice of all full english and also cereal and continental breakfast.
York is a lovely city and really enjoyed sight seeing around the city.
Would recommend this company, short break was well worth the money.

So I probably rather stupidly went onto a site called Tester's Keepers that claim to send products out to test for free in return for reviews on them. However, in order to be chosen I had to complete some surveys about various products and firms. One was a holiday company, so whilst I normally refuse to give contact details I put my phone number down and said they could contact me on this occasion, as I would like a holiday. Two days later I got a call from Horizon-holidays.co.uk telling me how I could have a 2 night 3 day stay at a location and date of my choice for me and my son for only £82 in total, which was a bargain, including at the East Cliff Hotel in Bournemouth, which sounded ideal. In fact, it sounded too good to be true, so I asked to call me back the next day so I could research it further to check it was genuine.

I'm glad I did that, as after speaking to the East Cliff Hotel in Bournemouth I discovered they were a Best Western chain hotel and they hadn't heard of them. Their rooms normally cost over £200 a night at the moment, so it sounded unlikely to be right, but the girl sounded a bit vague, so I still wasn't totally convinced either way. It did sound like there would be no way I'd get 2 nights there for £82 though.

Ben rang me back the next day and I put this to him. He very convincingly told me that they make a massive loss on every first booking to get our loyalty with a fab first holiday, so that they get repeat business (at a much higher cost) later on and recommendations. They don't advertise so that saves them loads to be able to bear this initial loss. The firm that book the holidays is Horizon Travel Solutions who have been operating for years in corporate, foreign and cruise holidays for years prior to the pandemic he said. It all again sounded very convincing. I wanted more reassurance though, so asked him to call again in a couple of hours.

A friend advised that I ask to pay by PayPal, so I'd have some protection. When Ben called back though, that option wasn't available. He said I could pay online with a special discount code though and I got rid of him that way, so I could speak to my bank to see what protection I had if it was a scam.

After speaking to my bank who said I could dispute the payment if it was a scam, they also thought it might not be worth the hassle.

As one last ditched attempt to be optimistic about this, I rang another hotel on their website, Plas Yn Dre in Snowden. The staff there were much more switched on and definitely didn't know about this firm. In fact they had a poor customer recently ring up to check his booking that he'd made there through an online firm for a similar sounding £85 and he had in fact been scammed, as they had no such booking for him on the days he'd booked.

So now I have given Hotel Plas Yn Dre the website details and they are going to ring Horizon Holidays up asking them how they get their money for this gent's booking. 😂 I also advised they contact trading standards to put a complaint in about them, as they are using their website's photos without permission.

So whilst I haven't been scammed directly as I did my homework, I can quite confidently say they are scam artists, as confirmed by the hotels they claim to use, so do NOT waste any money on them.

And if you still don't believe me, ring a few of the other hotels pictured on their website. Hotels change their room prices almost weekly depending on what season you book with them and the demand at that time, so how can a fixed price be guaranteed for so many hotels all over the country, all year round? How could they afford that kind of loss, on a gamble that you'd book again with them? I know their response, but that is bull! A firm couldn't survive on those kind of losses. So if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Save your money and book through a reputable firm that you can rely on. :)

Scam!!! This company doesn't exist, all the positive reviews are from them. Please always check reviews before buy into. Something.

Scam, RIP OFF

Had a phone call saying I won a holiday. Like the other comments is had to pay £17 for the breakfast. Told them I didn’t enter a competition. They asked for an email. I said no. When do you ever sign up for something and only put your phone number and name for a competition and not an email or address ect. Stay clear

THIS IS A SCAM!!!! Do not agree to anything on the phone! Sound very professional but very sly.
