Very rude customer service in the store. The women at the desk asked for photo id, I said I didn’t know I had to bring any and she said well if u read your email you would know. I apologised but she was being very off with me. When I got home and read the email it doesn’t say photo id only.

We’re absolutely gutted that we’re hearing the possibility of Homebase going into administration. The service we’ve received was absolutely the best service we’ve received in years.
The store manager in the Ewell Branch was amazing, as were the staff, at the customer service desk and the assistant at the checkout. They were all truly wonderful. They were all an absolute credit to Homebase. Therefore, it’s absolutely devastating to hear this very unfortunate news about the company going into administration.
I sincerely hope a buyer is found to save this wonderful company.

Terrible customer service from store manager Arno!
I recently visited Homebase Ewell and had a highly disappointing experience, particularly with the store manager, Arno. Despite clear promotions throughout the store and outside advertising 20% off all Christmas items, when I tried to make my purchase totaling £200, Arno was dismissive and refused to honor the advertised discount. When I pointed out the misleading promotion, he was rude and condescending, showing no willingness to address the issue or provide any reasonable explanation. This experience not only left me feeling frustrated but also questioned the integrity of the store’s advertising. I expected better customer service and a more professional attitude, especially from management. I will be taking this further.

Staff is very cooperative
Ewell branch staff and manager lack common sense
The HB Ewell branch store manager and a staff were very rude and lacked basic common sense. Despite showing the online email order details, text from my IPhone and my credit card details as ID, they were dismissive insisting on a photo ID saying it’s to prevent fraud with patronising comments as though they work for MI5. I am a 70 yr old with plenty of visible grey hair and a Homebase Ewell customer for the past 24 years. Why can’t Homebase employ at least sensible managers with some common sense. Very bad experience and will think many times before ordering online from HB. I am looking forward to seeing AI robots, face recognition cameras, eye scanners fingerprint detectors and possibly DNA tests in HB-Jurassic Park to identify people coming to collect £5 worth of click & collect order. No wonder their business model is so primitive with appalling customer experience. With this kind of lack of empathy and unhelpful culture, we could expect extinction of another dinosaur soon.

I ordered a B&D Powerfile online for…
I ordered a B&D Powerfile online for collection at a store, and Homebase took my money. A little later they cancelled my order, so I had to re-order from a different store, further away from home. So I paid twice and no sign of a refund for the first cancellation. I arrived at the store to collect the Powerfile, but was given a belt sander! I explained that it was the wrong one, so then had to wait while they found the right one. The woman who served me was very nice and helpful.

Helpful, friendly staff. Tanvir assisted me on locating the product I wanted to purchase and Gemma on the checkout.
Helpful staff on collection
I ordered the wrong paint, the lady in store was really helpful, she kindly went and got the paint that I meant to order and processed a partial refund for the difference. All very straightforward and easy!
I paid online £6 for a pack of crocus…
I paid online £6 for a pack of crocus bulbs, but when I was told they were out of stock I was only refunded £5.34 to my account, feel I've been ripped off!

I visited Homebase in Ewell Yesterday…
I visited Homebase in Ewell yesterday and found Helen and Stewart to be really helpful. I wanted to look at some garden pots outside that had become stuck together and I couldn’t get them apart to have a look at them. When I went to the helpdesk, I was made aware that the only person that could help was Stewart but he was just going on his break. Despite this, and having then spoken to Helen, they both helped outside to get the pots free. I ended up buying two. I have always found Helen to be particularly friendly and helpful on many occasions when I have visited Homebase over the years. You have a very valued member of staff there that makes the customer experience a real pleasure. Please do pass on my thanks to both Helen and Stewart.
