My order arrived quickly and was easy to collect, they kept me up to date regularly with where my order was.

Shop staff were helpful and the ordered goods arrived for collection very quickly

That staff were friendly and professional. They were aware of the item I was interested in purchasing and very helpful in enabling myself to order this and getting it delivered.

Quick, easy and friendly. Also, good excuse to browse a store packed with goodies.

Easy to use website. Reasonable cost. Email notifications for collection. Easy to pick up in local store friendly server.

Your staff are brilliant, the order was quick. Unfortunately the quality of the item was not up to scratch. Dolly Parton Rockstar, HMV exclusive set the vinyls had all torn through the top of record sleaves.

Good customer service when ordering products and ensuring these would be received should any difficulties arise.

About a year ago I walked into my local HMV and into the tail-end of an argument between the member of staff at the till and a customer. This ended with the customer storming out, vowing never to return and with the staff member calling out after him that he was glad that this man was never coming back. In hindsight, I wish that I had raised this with HMV.

Fast forward to September of this year: I was involved in a verbal altercation with the same member of staff, who refused to handover an item that I had purchased, and that I could prove I had purchased with multiple documents, none of which he cared to examine in detail. In addition, he was awkward, impolite and openly disrespectful. I felt as though I was being made to pay for a general unfocused frustration that he had with his job. Eventually he relented. As I turned to ask for a receipt for my purchase, he was already tossing it into the trash with an overhand lob. I will add at this point that I was a regular customer at the store, with the emphasis placed strongly on the word 'was'.

So what's the outcome of this debacle: I can't speak for the other customer. I will not hand money to someone who holds me in such open disdain. I will never set foot in that store again. That's a customer who, over the spread of 33 years, has spent tens of thousands of pounds in HMV.

I suffer nothing from this boycott. Physical media, much of it purchased at a lower price than in HMV, pours through my letterbox. My money circumvents the dying high-street and goes elsewhere.

My advice to HMV staff, from someone who has been employed in service roles in far more hostile environments, is that when you start treating customers as the enemy, you are on a downward spiral, and it is probably time to look for a new line of work.

I wasn't sure whether there was a cd of Joyce Grenfell the young man looked it up and found one very quickly.He was pleasant and interested in my purchase even though he wasn't probably born during that era.
