Letting my grandson try which was suitable and so helpful in putting the others back for us. Bought the jacket and was very pleased with the customer service received.

Go Outdoors represents reasonable value compared to other options, plus you get to see the products before you buy them. However, you do need to be a member to take advantage of any discounted pricing. The cost is a reasonable £5 So it is that a couple of hours before visiting, and knowing my membership had lapsed, I went online to purchase membership.

What wasn’t made obvious was that you still get and need a physical card.

I’d imagined that in 2026 you’d be able to add a digital card to your Apple Wallet or similar, but no. I still had a membership number which was sent in an email within seconds of paying, but in store at the till, having picked up what I needed, I was told it wasn’t recognised and I needed to wait for the physical card (I’m still waiting for that by the way)

So, I asked could I use my Bluelight card instead? Normally, yes, but not without your membership number being active. The lady in the queue behind me (sorry for your delay) proudly told me that she had her membership card in her digital wallet on her phone. Strange.

I wasn’t prepared to pay the premium price without discount and so left empty handed.

At home I ordered online, using the membership number which worked, and selected click and collect. The items were ready within the same day and I collected them the following day.

As a final twist, whilst in store on the first visit, I’d asked the salesperson on the boot section about the sizing of the Brasher socks I was after. I was advised they tended to be a bit under size. So taking a 12 boot, I got the 12+ size. Turns out these were quite generous, so I needed a 3rd trip to exchange 2 pairs.

So, for me, they fall short of what would have been 5 Stars by virtue of otherwise helpful staff being bound by obstructive IT/policy.

My husband and I both needed new trainers. We went to Wakefield GoOutdoors and were served by Martin who was knowledgeable, helpful and very patient. We both got trainers which were a good fit.

We were served by a lovely lady called Leeanne. We found everything we needed.
We were served quickly and efficiently.

The assistant, Edward, greet me as soon as I entered the shop and asked if he could assist. As I was buying a rucksack he showed the variety and helped me decide which one was best for me. The lady, Leeann, at the till was friendly and assisted.

Came in looking for some salopettes and was helped by the lovely Ruth. Checked the sales items for me and we weren’t able to locate any in stock but really appreciate the friendly service :)

Unfortunately had to return a pair of Peter Storm walking shoes that were advertised as waterproof! Sadly not the case. Having tried to exchange them for a hopefully more expensive pair of a different brand whilst still wet, was told to return when they were dry, as apparently it was a health and safety issue that they were unable to handle them that day. Never mind, returned two days later and no issues thankfully, due to the very helpful and happy Erin.

First time at Go Outdoors Wakefield and was served by Kirstie, who appeared very friendly and pleasant to deal with.

Visited Go Outdoors Wakefield last week and we was served by Andy C who was very knowledgable about the walking boots we wanted to buy , he was very friendly and kind. When we got to the tills to pay for our items , we was then served by Kayla who was also very friendly and kind. Going forwards we would always visit your store.

Great service from staff JackD and Leeann when we went to the Wakefield branch to buy a pair of womens walking sandals. Store was well laid out and easy to find the section we wanted. JackD was very helpful and patient when choosing the sandals required and Leeann was very welcoming and polite on the till. An all round good customer experience.

Staff were very helpful, patient and explained to to us about any offers included with the items we bought.

One member of staff also showed us around the camping equipment and explained what we might need and wasn't pushy with us either.

The 2 ladies Leeann and Kayla at the till were great including the young man who showed us round.

Great store with a massive range of equipment and clothing. Really enjoyed looking around and checking out tents and camping chairs. It’s great that lots of tents are pitched outside as well as inside. Much better to see and experience them.
Friendly and helpful staff.
In particular, Leeann at the checkout was lovely. Such a bubbly person with great customer service skills.
