Worst company and people ever.No help when u need help.waste of money n time with this company.i am a uber driver and uber blocked my account on false alegations and i was a GMB member and i asked the manchetser team to help me but they didnt help me in my case.its better you can contact with company directly and slove issues.stay away from these rippoffs.becarefull pl.u will not get help from GMB when u get stuck n u needs help.
GMB ripping off the dying, who’d believe it?
I’ve been a union rep and member with GMB for over 20 years.
I was retired out of my job due to ill health, in short terminally ill.
I was unaware that it was my responsibility to inform GMB to move me to a retired member, but still continued to take my union dues on a monthly basis. I requested GMB refund my union dues over a three year period, as this would have provided me with much needed respite care. GMB replied back and reverted back to its policy of it being the members responsibility to move to a retired member and cancel my direct debit. Even if you’re terminally ill and unaware of what day it is, you are still expected to inform the union, even though the union knew about my situation between myself and my employer. Well all I can say is that GMB must really need my money, if they’re willing to rip off dying members. So when GMB start rambling on about inequality and the working class, I’ll remind them that robbing the dying is not only discriminatory but wrong.
Double standards GMB. I wonder how many other members have been ripped off? Questions need to be asked. I hope my few bob paid to GMB gets them to where they need to go, with dodgy values. I’m disappointed and angry.

Have been a long term member of the GMB and whilst during my time of being a member there have been good and not so good experiences, the first experience was back in the mid 90s when it would have appeared that the full time officer was just simply in the pockets or under the thumb of the management, however in more recent years and after massive career change I had the absolute pleasure of working alongside a female full time officer who said what she meant and meant what she said, she was from the North West London Office and was simply amazing. I don’t necessarily have any comments on the Male, Pale and a Stale club that appears to win the Gen Sec elections and how Females never seem to get a look in, maybe there would be less scandals if there were a female in control?

My husband was being transferred to another department in his workplace. They tried to reduce his salary and a rep for GMB blocked him getting the pay he deserved! He was a paid up GMB member ! Needless to say he is now with Unite who are way better and you can actually contact them !

Incredibly incompetent. Can't provide with any constructive advise. Not willing to take any actions. Impossible to get hold of their representatives. One of them just dropped my case without informing me ,went on holiday and never got back to me. Waste of money

Second time I need help and I'm ignored.
Like others here I have to confirm GMB has failed me twice. I've been a member since 2021 and this is the second time I emailed for advice and no one replies. No one answers the phone either and there is no other way to contact them. I'm going to cancel membership because I don't see what exactly I'm paying for.

Don't waste your money or your time. They won't respond to anything that actually requires attention and they create a narrative that looks like they are helping people. They share information you give them in confidence with the company you are fighting against. Scammers

I'm not the only person I've known them to ignore. They'll take your details but they won't get back to you.
Based on the feedback of others, I'll cancel my direct debit via my bank. I advise others to do the same.
I'm not going to call them a scam, but their lack of communication is reminiscent to that of typical scam companies. Non-existing service in my experience.
Long term member now cancelled
I didn't feel this union was good value for money. Didn't get much assistance with issues and slow to reply. At the Environment Agency our terms and conditions have been eroded and no real term pay rise over the last 10 years. I don't feel the union fought strongly enough. When I tried to cancel they didn't reply so just had to cancel direct debit. Wish I had saved the money I wasted with them over the years.

Absolute joke of a union, yet again they done sod all for me during my recent disaplinary, im leaving this union I’d recommend not joining cos they not fit for purpose basically
AVOID GMB! Terry Douglas is a disgraceful manipulator!
Terry Douglas was so unprofessional, unavailable, unhelpful and gave me the worst advice. His advice led me to face disciplinary at work. I was being discriminated time and time again at work but was offered no support from Terry Douglas. I spoke to ACAS who advised me that GMB should not of given the advice they given me. I then told Terry this and he manipulated and gaslit me, he then said he would get in contact with GMB to end my contract- that’s completely fine please do.

Shame you can’t put no stars. Absolutely awful service. Have tried to contact them with my concerns and no reply. No support at all, happy to take your money. Life changing.

They guided me to make a claim for a back injury, misleading me and recommended a poor solicitor Slater and Gordon rep by Clare Griffiths who hold my case for almost 3 years and in the end told me I have no case, facts that made me lose my job, my carrier, basically destroyed my hole life. Legal advice not worth it. Legal representation in the work place is also not worth it, they don't know the UK law and they are powerless in front of employers.
They do not care, they just want your monthly subscription fee
The guy who I spoke to about my issues was totally obviously disinterested in talking to me and just told me straight away they couldn’t help without even hearing anything about the proof I had of being refused my notice period and the holiday pay i had accrued as well as multiple examples of mistreatment. Totally rubbish service and not worth the monthly subscription, do not waste your money or faith on this ‘Union’ I got way further without spending a penny through my own research and eventually got the money I was owed that way. It’s a shame that GMB Union couldn’t even point me in the direction that I went in the end, they could’ve saved me a lot of time and didn’t. The representatives here do not care.

GMB is an awful trade union
GMB is an awful trade union that cares nothing about its members. They only ever employ their own low paid members who are dying to get a job with the union to improve their pay or Labour Party wannabe politicians. These staff barely get any training or support and are expected to toe the line and when they don't, they are bullied and managed out. The regional committees and central executive committee are mainly populated with the regional secretaries' flunkies who do as they're told. There is no real democracy. Members are purely a number on a spreadsheet and a source of revenue so the GMB can play games in the Labour Party. Do not join and if you are a member, leave.

Been with GMB for around 20 years never really had to use them. But when I needed them due to being made redundant said that they had no one available to come to my place of work for my one - one consultation. Gave them another date but said still not available. Feel very very let down payed in for all them years for nothing. 👎
