Would rate a 0 if I could; APPALLING

Would rate a 0 of I could. I can see a lot of very bad reviews which I myself have also experienced regarding the lack of communication from this service.

I wanted to contact the Wembley branch but was automatically transferred to the Hendon Branch? Both branches I had to call several times to get through to them. They rarely pick up phone calls.

I have experienced very delayed communications from one representative only to find out that she wasn’t my allocated representative? Very confusing.

I tried to raise a new issue with them and was extremely appalled and shocked at the customer service that I received from the Assistant Branch secretary manager Valorie Moore, in the Hendon branch. From the minute I received her call, she was very patronising and passive aggressive and had no sense of compassion and understanding and continuously interrupted me whilst trying to speak. I was immediately shut down by her when trying to raise my concerns regarding the dissatisfaction of the service provided my GMB Union up until that point, and she said ‘we are not here to discuss this, we do not have a lot of time so there is no point at mentioning this’

Despite her aggression from the beginning I ignored and proceeded to voice my work place concerns (which I now deeply regret) she was very quick to dismiss my case and lacked basic customer service skills and extremely lacked empathy.

These people are clearly not here to support. Your money is going to waste. DO NOT JOIN THIS UNION. PLEASE BELIEVE THE REVIEWS THAT HAVE BEEN LEFT!!

I made a big mistake by not reading these reviews before signing up!!

This GMB Union needs to be shut down!

Absolutely disgusted with GMB

Absolutely disgusted with GMB.
Since 2022 been taking direct debit payments from my bank account, I didn’t even know I was a member, so I have asked for refund, they came out with so much rubbish it was impossible, so I’m going to the ombudsman.

Generally management board

Typical.... try to pal out a negative with a positive.... proofs a point... they can't even see it.... the power of the union... 70 years ago... long gone now... got to admit there are the cheapest then some of the bigger hitters... best way to deal with it is to cancel membership.. get your £15 or so and bin it...cause that's what you're doing every month you pay them...never know you might get more enjoyment out of it.. first time...........

Good luck when you try to cancel

Never had cause to use them, but after retiring I looked forward to cancelling my subscription and saving money every month. “Just login and cancel online” says their website. If only it were that easy!! I believed I’d cancelled online, but then received an email stating I had to email a different department if I wanted to cancel, so that’s what I did. Several days later I received an email stating it looked like I wanted to cancel my membership and that if I did, I needed to confirm this (yet again!), which I once again did.
Since then I received almost daily messages saying “did you know you are no longer a member?? If you cancelled by mistake then let us know straight away or you won’t be covered”. I contacted them yet again to say ‘yes I did know I had cancelled my membership, given that it was ME that cancelled it!’
I thought that was the end of it, but oh no. Weeks later and even after requesting they remove all my details from their system, I’m still receiving messages saying “Your membership is due to elapse soon. Reply now to keep your membership active”.
I’m sure it’s easier trying to get out of a timeshare!!
Thankfully I was able to cancel my own direct debit as they don’t seem to understand when someone has left !!

Dear Fake and false GMB union

It has become evident that your organization is not an independent body protecting drivers but rather an undercover extension of Uber itself. You claim to support drivers, yet you only handle minor issues while collecting monthly fees from them—fees that serve no real purpose other than to exploit those already struggling under Uber’s system.

At the same time, you receive money directly from Uber, creating a clear conflict of interest. You pretend to be on the side of drivers, yet when they face false accusations and deactivations by Uber staff, you do nothing meaningful to defend them. Instead, you allow Uber to continue its unfair practices while maintaining the illusion that you are an independent organization.

This deception must stop. Your organization should be held accountable for misleading drivers and profiting from their hard work while being complicit in Uber’s exploitation. I demand transparency regarding your financial relationship with Uber and a clear explanation of how you justify your actions.

If it's possible to rate GMB 0, I would have done so.
They are always ready to collect money every month from your account but never ready to support you when needed.
I am memeber of the Redbridge branch, and the only GMB rep I can count on is Stephen Jone, Stephen Jones has been supportive , and always seems ready to support. I have had bad experiences with some of their receptionists. They are rude and would always sound rude to you, not appearing ready to help. I spoke to a lady called Mary, an officer to the Redbridge branch. Her tone and approach towards the concern I was discussing with her was ver unprofessional, and when I complained, and said I am upset about her approach, she told me it is my decision to be upset. I was gutted but not gutted as this ain't the first time I have experienced this with some GMB staff. You are stressed and mentally drained by the unfair treatment from your employer, and then you assume that your union should be able to comfort and offer you support when needed, instead, they don't seem to care. Wow!! Thanks to Stephen Jones, he has being very supportive and very helpful to me. I am also looking forward to ending my membership with GMB after the completion of the bullying issue with my employer. I do not think I will recommend GMB to anyone in the future. It's a no no.

Can I rate my experience as a 0?because 1 is to good for this union, I've contacted my regional team (in Norwich)and had no response for 2 weeks , someone supose to get in touch with me and never happens,left as well my details to a rep. call me back and no response at all, every time i ring is always busy never available and twice a rude lady answered just took details of work issue to pass on to the union rep.and you have to wait again to be contacted this is a joke!!!what a wast e of time and money!! Well done GMB for charging people for doing nothing very clever!! Will cancel my membership !

Avoid GMB Union – False Promises and No Real Support

I joined GMB Union specifically because I was told they would help with my delayed PCO licence application, which has been stuck for four months. However, after signing up and paying for membership, I was informed that they can’t assist because my issue started before I joined.

This was never made clear before I became a member, and now I feel completely misled. What’s the point of joining a union if they refuse to help when you actually need them? They are happy to take your money but will find any excuse not to act when it matters.

I deeply regret signing up and would not recommend GMB Union to anyone looking for real support. Look elsewhere if you want a union that actually stands by its members!

Waste of time and money

Waste of time and money. Didn't get back to any of my emails when I needed support as my work were bullying me. Only time I heard anything from them was when they tried to take the direct debit out my account. No luck, I'd cancelled it. Shocking place

Can't cancel on website amd rude receptionist

There is nowhere on the website to cancel, which is quite strange. I also spoke to the receptionist, who seemed more interested in scoring points than in listening to me. I am not interested in this kind of unprofessional service; therefore, I am canceling my membership right now.

Can’t fault GMB

I have been supported by GMB through a recent work place grievance and the support I received was fantastic. Attended every meeting and hearing with me. Challenged the management team. I’d encourage everyone to join a trade union.

EXTREMELY disappointed

EXTREMELY disappointed. No one EVER answers the phone at their Hendon branch. I have also tried Wembley. I want to cancel my membership. This is a rip-off you cannot practically speak to anybody!

Horrible

Simply put, terrible.

I cancelled my DD and they still tried taking the money and sending me e-mails, but never e-mailed me back when I needed support.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Gmb has been a complete waste of money. They don't care about their customers, and they never respond to support tickets. Save your time and money—don't join them. They will never do any good for you. Just a scam

Worthless

Absolutely waste of time. No one is there to help the individuals who are already going through an ordeal.
Try and stay away from this union even if it is given as free of charge.
