George the Plumber
Called out George the Plumber who had 5* reviews to replace an outside tap. 2 guys turned up who could hardly speak English. They quoted £350. When I laughed and told them I had already turned down a quote for £200, they offered to do it for £250. When I said no they wanted to charge me a £48 call out fee. I relented and let them do the job for their rip off fee of £250. They really were not very competent but finally got the job done. They would not leave until I had paid by bank transfer and they had photographed the transfer confirmation screen. The receiving company for payment was UBR Plumbing Ltd. Watch out for these scam merchants.
A young plumber turned up
A young plumber turned up , had a look at the issue, I needed 2 ballcock and the leavers and a pipe from the overflow repairing.
At first he said £1000. , I just laughed then he said £600 I laughed, anyway got on to so called boss, told him he was having a laugh, told me someone would ring back, didn’t, so I did , and again and again eventually I agreed on 500.
Still over the top , but I admit he did a good job , asked to pay by bank transfer, no I said credit card only.
In fairness the plumber was a nice person it’s a shame he works for Del and co
I know I have overpaid, I have learnt from this but he did a good job,
I hope there is no further issues otherwise I will contact the credit card company.
Scam company
Scam company. Should not be in business. We called for a plumber on Sunday and asked if there would be an additional charge for the weekend. We were assured that the only difference would be the call-out fee of £58 versus the regular £48 fee. The plumber who came quoted us £420 to change a basin tap (market price is c.£150), and mentioned that they charge an additional fee for the weekend - despite us being told over the phone that this wasn't the case. These guys are true rip-off merchants - check out the TrustPilot reviews as all of these 5 star reviews are fake. Avoid.
Do not use company not providing…
Do not use company not providing receipts for work done and super exenpensive . People who manage calls create a high pressure sell and you don’t ever speak to the same person twice . Will be reporting this company also to regulatory board. Please do not use this company

I think and I am sorry if I sent a review about George the Plumber
My complaint is in Wiltshire steered by UBR both on the government companies directory.
I was scammed ,seriously ,paid twice or even more for a relatively small job
I would advise anyone not to use them .
Felt intimidated to pay hand card machine as I on my own ,I questioned it another guy with him .
I am disabled .
So if I did not pay uncertain what might of happened.
Don’t be fooled ,no call ou charge lies ,
No proper invoice,UBR did sent me one with no credentials
They need investigating
I have tried racing standards but I need tow quotes I can’t pay plumbers time .
There reviews are all terrible except a couple probably they have wrote themselves.
Beware
I
£190 per hour!
£190 per hour! Slow work - excessive charging. Pop up waste replacement cost £624.
Shocking overcharging and intimidating service – avoid
Do not phone this company. Do not employ this company.
My partner and I initially contacted George the Plumber and were met with someone who seemed disgruntled that we had even phoned. Despite this, they promised a same-day visit by 5pm for a £49 call-out fee, which sounded reassuring at the time. Unfortunately, that was the start of a three-month nightmare, trying to get some compensation, to no avail.
“George the Plumber” doesn’t actually carry out the work themselves. Instead, they outsource jobs to another company (Emergency Plumbing Masters) who are even worse. What followed was completely unacceptable. We were charged £360 just for an “investigation and diagnosis,” of which Emergency Plumbing Masters claims they informed us of prior to work commencing, this is categorically untrue as my partner and I were only looking to send approximately £250. It wasn't until later on in this saga that we found out the "investigation & diagnosis" phase has a set price of £360, no matter how involved the labour was. Emergency Plumbing Masters claims they have phone recordings of this call were my partner and I agreed to the cost, which we have asked multiple times to provide those recordings and they have failed to do so.
Emergency Plumbing Masters pulled up carpets and floorboards and even cut a hole into the wall, something that could have been avoided entirely if basic checks had been done first. He then claimed the issue was simply due to eroded silicone in the shower and charged us £320 for three bottles. He only applied silicone the shower tray leaving us perplexed at the use of three bottles and at a mark-up of 500%. A second workman (of whom we employed to fix the poor workmanship) confirmed the amount used would barely equate to half a bottle. The second workman also stated that any experienced plumber would have taken one look at our grouting and attributed it to being the cause of the issue.
When the job was “complete,” he turned the final bill into a guessing game, encouraging my partner to estimate the final charge. When he revealed the total, it came to a shocking £901.24, almost three times what we were expecting to pay.
At that point, we were in complete disbelief. Emergency Plumbing Masters then refused to leave our property unless we paid claiming he could not be assigned a new job until payment for this one was complete. This is predatory business practice as the terms and conditions stating no refunds are ATTACHED to the invoice, effectively forcing us to accept the invoice and its terms under pressure.
This was an extremely stressful, overpriced, and unprofessional experience. I strongly urge others to avoid this company entirely.
I would give this business zero stars…
I would give this business zero stars if I could. Last year, a plumber named Farhan turned up and charged my partner a ridiculous £250 just to replace a radiator lockshield valve—a basic job that took him an entire two hours due to sheer incompetence.
Here is a breakdown of the "service" Farhan provided:
Complete lack of basic plumbing knowledge: He spent ages hunting for the main water isolator to drain the system. His excuse? He couldn't find it because it was "covered by a bucket" under the sink.
Doesn't know how to identify a heating system: Farhan actually asked me if we had a water tank in the loft. This is despite the fact that we have a standard combi boiler with a massive, highly visible pressure gauge right on the front of it.
He clearly didn't know what he was doing, dragged the time out to justify an outrageous fee, and lacked basic troubleshooting skills. Save your money, your time, and your sanity—do not let Farhan anywhere near your plumbing.
Grossly overcharged
The service was quick and the plumber who came was knowledgable and helpful, so 3 stars for that. However we were grossly overcharged and strongly recommend that you discuss cost vigorously before using them. We would not do so again.
George the Plumber - dishonest charges and not local
George the Plumber masquerading as a local company. £48 call out charge. Said the parts would be £273 plus labour. The next day a friend offered to look at it. Lifted the part out, said "a tube has become disconnected" and re-connected it before the kettle had boiled. Absolute scam.
Adam and Uwais were very thorough in…
Adam and Uwais were very thorough in their work and were great communicators. Would recommend for these two alone.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY
DO NOT USECTHIS COMPANY.
They don’t know what they are doing.
I asked for his gas safety certificate.
He didn’t have one.
Do not let these in your house
I knew more about my boiler m, and central heating system than the the gas engineer.
Cowboy’s unqualified and and unregistered.
If I could give minus 5 I would
If I could give minus 5 I would, George the plumber is an absolute scam and fraudster artist that ever walked the planet. He has no shame, ripping off anyone that comes into contact with him, especially old age pensioners. He turns up in a luxury car and parks at the end of the street with minimal tools and charges the client for his time to get tape to patch a repair .and then keeps the tape the client has bought. He doesn't fix it only patches it. He is a scam artist. His company is using a lot of cover up websites, and saying it's fake reviews but don't be fooled, your loss his his gain he drives a Lamborghini, scam, scam, scan you have been warned
Look at someone else
We had a leak from our boiler, genuinely it was an hours work, if that, we got charged £800 for the repair, that didn’t happen, I refused to pay it and eventually settled for £360, after leaving a bad review on Google he called me at 11pm, he said I was costing him money, however it I took the review down and gave him 5 stars he’d refund some of our money, in the end of course I didn’t give him a 5 star review and I got every penny back, just an absolute crook
Had a problem with my boiler was quoted…
Had a problem with my boiler was quoted 170 pound per module , I have 2 dual zone heating,
Was charged 81 pound call out fee only for a genuine plumber to diagnose the problem and it was completely different. This lot are cowboys , do not use , do not waste your money
Rip off company.
Arrived an hour later than promised.
Job was very simple. Bleed a radiator and replace a part in the thermostat. Only took about 15 mins. They charged £389.
I had to accept it as it was at my elderly sisters house and she needed heat. If it were for me I would have refused the job but they would still charge me £58 for call out and inspection. Rip off company. Have nothing to do with them.
Do not use this company
Do not use this company. Was quoted £700 for work that took less than 30 mins due to “specialist tools.” When I questioned this after the work was done without the specialist tools, and I wanted to call the office, I was blocked and forced to pay instantly. Save your money. Go somewhere else.
They offered to come on a Sunday, just to charge extra
They offered to come on a Sunday, despite it was not an emergency, as it was a favour to me and it's my lucky day...Then they gave me a ridiculous highly price by saying "it's Sunday".
They should be more upfront, particularly when you asked the prices estimate over the phone...
I needed a leak in my toilet sorting
I needed a leak in my toilet sorting. I thought it would need a new flushing mechanism. George the Plumber was the first on the list of searches for the Gedling area and, such an honest name that you can trust in, is George. George sounds like the sort of bloke who goes to work every day, with his bag of plumbing tools, a flat cap and his blue overalls... won't let you down.
Surprisingly George was available today, this afternoon in fact, but I pushed it back to tomorrow....THEN I had a look ok at trustpilot....oh dear.........Ohdear ohdearohdearohdearohdear.
I immediately phoned George the plumber back...I said, is that you George? George didn't sound happy.... even less so when I told him why I was calling. He then wanted to know what I was doing instead! I didn't feel that I wanted to share the more intimate moments of my life with him, just yet...I didn't feel like our relationship was quite at that place yet, even though he'd been very very polite on meeting, I found this question quite intrusive and skillfully avoided it by just saying I was going out somewhere.. George lives his plumbing so much that anything that get in the way of him and his favourite wrench is heartbreak for him...so, he tutted...tutted at me and my alternative engagement. I half expected him to lecture me on the importance of prioritising workload and job management systems...but he didn't. In fact, he got quite terse. He said he would have to inform the 'others?!?' who they were, he never said, but I think they must have been important and hard to reach because this obstacle seemed to cause so much doubt with his m I fear d we would have to abandon the call there and then. He finished with a slightly spikey "yeh, whatever" after I'd asked him to send me an email confirmation of the cancelled appointment and with that, the conversation was over.
I hope this is the last time our paths ever crosse ways because the whole experience was so traumatic for him I doubt he's got much left in his battery tank. Fair well George. I wish thee well!
Cancel on last minute
So sad to tell this but this company is not worth it to collaborate with them because I was having to change only one water valve so the cost is was about 50£ only to change it.On the last minute is cancelled the appointment because the guy is was having some family issues and is not available for today so is nobody else available.Lazy and lies
