POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE
Wrote to their customer services, enquiring into which of their walking boot ranges cater for broad feet. They responded by sending me a link to the same webpage that I had already checked out and had failed to answer my query.
During the lockdown, online sales are the only option for these companies to survive. Make an effort!
Why call the department 'Customer Services'?
Waterproof, Feet soaking
I recently bought a pair of Gelert walking shoes for riding my MTB, Bought be cause i wanted waterproof, Two months in and my feet at soaking, It says waterproof on the side of the shoe. Not happy at all. Will just need to use these as a summer shoe now. I actually thought Gelert was a good brand.
Strangely, not terrible
Bought a pair of Gelert waterproof boots from Sports Direct for £30 before reading the reviews here. Wasn't expecting much from them after reading the reviews. However as I wear them every day for work I was fairly impressed that they actually lasted 3 months before they started to let in water. Can't really complain too much for the price in all honesty and they were very comfortable. Replaced with Northwest Territories Inuvik @ £47.99
Boots leak
My partner bought me a pair of ladies gelert walking boots for Christmas, totally disappointed as they let water in only worn them 4 times I just hope I can have a replacement pair as they did seem comfortable
The waterproof shoe that lets water in!
The waterproof shoe that lets water in!
My fault for buying cheap crap.
Broken withIn 2 hours of use.
Bought Gelert Softshell walking boots and wore them once before one of the eyelets came off, so now can’t be fully laced up. Very disappointed
Congratulations Gelert, cheap for a reason
Congratulations Gelert.
Normally I buy expensive walking boots that still only last 9 to 12 months before falling apart. The wilds of Hampshire proving just too flat and bland for those high performance boots.
So imagine my delight when I bought a pair of softshell mid boots from sports direct for a third of the price i would normally pay. Yes they were a little short on quality and finish and the chap in sports direct hadn't the faintest clue if the boots were even water proof, or any good. But an English company, based in North Wales of all places must understand what is required of a walking boot, I supposed.
Support the local lads and lasses I thought. 20 minutes of daily dog walking in a wood must be right up their street.
But alas, no. For a third of the price for a pair of Merrell boots, Gelert could manage a third of the durability. Within 3 and half months the sole of the left boot has sprung a leak and is now sucking up water into the boot. Not good. Not good at all. Nill points for Wales
Of course sports direct looked blankly at me when I attempted to return the boots. Apparently wearing the footware invalidates any sort of warranty.
Having learnt my lesson, I have now caved in and bought yet another pair of expensive foreign boots. Michigan in the United States seeming to have a better grasp of English walking conditions then poor old Welsh boot makers.
Avoid at all cost, however cheap it is, it's cheap for a reason.
waste of money
Wore a pair of hiking boots 3 times and they absolutely fell apart.
Poor quality shoes, fall apart!
Poor quality shoes, fallen to bits in 2 months and the soles have loads of holes in them, my feet are constantly wet in supposebly waterproof shoes! I should have stuck with karrimor shoes as they last much longer. Customer support are not helpful continuingly avoiding the fact this is their product.
I purchased these walking boots from Sports Direct
I purchased these walking boots from Sports Direct at the end of October. I know we have had a lot of rain lately but I did not expect the boots to let in water. I have emailed Sports Direct and I’m waiting for their response. I definitely would not buy these boots again although I did quite like the style and they fitted perfectly.
Thanks for the reviews, i was going to buy a pair
Just read the reviews on this brand as i was just about to purchase a pair, well i am not now lol, so thanks for everyone who left reviews, i think i had a very near miss...
5 Months Old Fell To Bits
Bought a pair of gelert rocky walking shoes 5 months ago not worn much due to lock down i would say no more than 10 times wore today to take dog out on field and the sole has nearly fallen off one and the other has started save your money buy a better brand.
The shoes appear to fit differently
The shoes appear to fit differently. One is tight and a bit short whereas the other one is difficult to get tight enough and feels loose. I haven’t had this problem with any other shoes. They even look different although they are definitely a pair. The quality looks and feels cheap and nasty.
Gelert Eiger hiking boots
Had Gelert Eiger hiking boots. The boots were very comfortable and they did keep the water out, but the soles are thin and hollow, and have failed after approx 100 miles of walking. Such a shame, as the uppers and lining are still in perfect condition. Yes, they were cheap, but I got a pair of Grade 1 Altberg Defenders online for the same price, and I suggest that anyone else does the same.
You don't deserve 1 star what a lot of…
You don't deserve 1 star what a lot of rubbish your boots are. Bought ladys walking full leather Friday walked the dogs Saturday morning on wet grass and my feet are soaking wet, took them back got no refund as I was told that leather was not waterproof, so what good are walking boots if you can not get them wet.
I've just bought some Gelert Horizon…
I've just bought some Gelert Horizon Mid Walking Boots. They are a Junior size, as although I'm an adult my feet are only size 5. I went for a dog walk this morning in these boots and so far I'm very impressed. They went through torrential rain, wet grass, puddles and mud. My feet remained bone dry and toasty warm. I've had so called 'waterproof' boots previously, which turned out not to be waterproof at all and came home with soggy feet. This was not the case today, although based on other reviews this situation may not last long. If things change I'll post an update.

The boots say waterproof on them but waterproof they are not absolutely rubbish you only get stung once will keep away from the Gelert products in the future

FOUR times I've emailed you now to report an issue with a pair of boots I have. Supposed to be waterproof but absolutely NOT!! What sort of customer service is this if you don't even have the courtesy to reply to anyone? Terrible.... Will NEVER buy a Gelert product again. I suggest you don't either. No surprise you have such a low rating on here.
I don't even want to give 1 star
I don't even want to give 1 star. These are poor quality and they rub terribly! Walked only 2 miles and have 2 blisters
Amazing boots
Amazing boots! We bought our leather walking boots in Wales from a Gelert outlet 15 years ago. I have walked 1000's of miles in these boots and still they are going strong. Best boots I have ever bought!
