Best forum on the web for information, proper techniques, and friendly people. Very well moderated to keep it a fun and friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend. This forum is what started me out, and I still refer to it for help. 10/10.

Readers Beware. Today, Fishlore Representatives posted a link to this Trustpilot page with a caption that begs people to come here and give them positive ratings. In the caption, it states that their poor reviews are from from people they've banned from their site, which couldn't be further from the truth.

Clean up your act Fishlore! Stop allowing your moderators to bully and humiliate the members of your group. Keep it in perspective. You're a fish forum.

people there are always willing to help. they do their best. any species that lives in water amd even some that don't they will help with.

I can’t find answers to more specific questions as quickly or as throughouly as I can on this site. It’s very active, and for the most part has really pleasant, knowledgeable people.

Fishlore is friendly community with experts in all sorts of fish knowledge and other pets. I love it because you learn something new everyday from many people,some who have been in the fish keeping hobby for 20 or more years. Everyone is patient and understanding and very kind. I would reccomend this to anyone from a first fish keeper or an old timer willing to share and help the younger people

I love this website! Members here have given me so much information and I was able to grow from one poorly stocked tank to five established tanks in one year! Once I got to 50 posts, I was able to buy stuff from other members. Now I'm able to sell my own fish and shrimp on eBay. As a teenager, this has been a very wholesome experience that has taught me responsibility and has given me a route to earn profits too.

Fishlore is an awesome place! The members are all very helpful and the staff is top notch. Since I've been a member, they have helped me setup 4 fish tanks and have given sound and helpful advice to nurse my sick fish back to health. I'm proud to a member of Fishlore and will continue to pass on the knowledge I've learned to other new fishkeepers!

I’ve been reading Fishlore’s poor reviews here and find it concerning that Fishlore’s response to the majority of them is to report the negative situation/post to a Fishlore Moderator.

News Flash: The customer service at Fishlore is poor and the problem IS the moderators. My personal experience has been that the moderators often address novice fish-keepers with judgemental assumptions if they address them at all, and they often address experienced fish-keepers with condescending debates that serve no purpose but to confuse the novice OP.
Also, I’ve personally found the knowledge / skill level of the Fishlore moderators to be alarmingly low.

For a fish info forum, this site is the last one I will go to from now on. I made an account in hopes of getting some helpful tips in regards to a new tank I had set up. Keep in mind, I've had 10 gal to 60 gal tanks for the past 10 years (I've had everything from community tropical fish to cichlids to Oscars to newts/axolotls to goldfish to angelfish). But only recently have I began introducing a large amount of live plants and fresh water shrimp.

If you ask a simple question, it's almost a guarantee you'll get some snappy rude comments. Not only that, but even after you create an account and post a few threads, your access to simply replying to certain threads/topics is restricted! You have to post a thread 50 TIMES before you have full access to replying to the forums. So unless you spam the threads (which is against the rules obviously) you might not be able to respond to a sale/trade thread for MONTHS! There are far better fish forum sites to go to for help or info.

I'v been a member for over a year and a half now and strongly recommend it. The moderators arent mean at all, has others have commented, and are just stern on the rules. I have learned so much from all there sections. Their app is laid out very nicely and organized and very easy to use. Would recommend to anybody!

i don't like this website at all and i hate that it always shows up a the top of my searches.

Most of the members are know it all's. It's very cliquey, the mods have enormous ego's (hello it's a fish forum relax), the members are so quick to be mean and unwelcoming to new members, they treat people who don't know and make mistakes horribly and most people give horrible horrible advice!

better off just following youtubers and get info from reliable resources.

Very peculiar forum with group of experienced in fishkeeping people from which most seem to have narcissistic self-centered personality which absolutely does not tolerate any type of criticism. As long as you agree with all they have to say you are tolerated. But as soon as you put your foot in front of the line, you get spanked and often unpleasantly retaliated. I found several interesting tips on that forum but when tried to contribute in exchange, was simply ignored... or I think I was as fishlore "experts" never reply with gratitude to valuable comments from newbies or those members who have their own opinions, - different from theirs, instead they often are silent. So find what you need and do not waste your time in contributing, you will not gain anything from it, you may get unwelcome instead.

I've been on fishlore for a year now. I started there to get information on how to setup a tank for a betta. I have learned many things from their members such as how to do a fishless tank, how to set up sponge filter, how to grow live aquatic plants, and so forth. My betta, Blue Water, lives in a ten gallon with live plants and nerite snails. She is healthy and happy.

Recently I have been helped with setting up my 40 gallon breeder. Learned how to use a canister filter, members gave me links to great places to buy driftwood, members helped me finalize my stocking plan according to temp, and fish size as an adult, not to mention setting up quarantine tank.

I am still learning, and fishlore community continues to be very helpful in my aquarium hobby.

This site is very good for people that want to dicuss their hobby. I've had no problem at all and people have always been friendly to me, including the moderators on the site.

I am yet to see anyone bully others and even the newcomers get fairly treated even if they did something wrong with their tank setup.

NEVER SEEN SUCH MEAN AND UNPROFESSIONAL MODERATORS MANAGING A FORUM. THEY ENJOY BANNING PEOPLE INSTEAD OF OFFERING A WARM ENVIRONMENT. . I WAS BANNED WITH NO WARNING FROM the admin Rivieraneo because i POSTED A PHOTO THAT WAS NOT MINE AND I REPLIED TO THIS MOD BY SAYING THAT THE PHOTO ACTUALLY WAS PART OF THE LINK I INSERTED ON MY POST BUT THAT MISERABLE HATEFUL person, STILL BANNED ME. NOW I DONT KNOW WHAT YOU CALL THESE GUYS. SHAME ON YOU AND I HOPE PEOPLE REALLY LEARN WHAT THEY REALLY ARE.

I read this in the section today about the history of fishlore.com

"I wanted to create a place where those new to the hobby could come to ask questions and not feel stupid or get ridiculed for asking those questions. I also wanted a place where there was an underlying respect for ALL of the members, not just the senior members. On some of the other boards it seems like the senior members have forgotten that they too were new to this hobby at one point. Some of those senior folks really thought of themselves as experts, I mean really, how could anyone possibly be an expert in this hobby - No way Hose A. "

They are rediculously strict on what language their members can use HOWEVER on their very site written by the founder, MIKE he uses a derogatory term for the Spanish pronouciation of Joseph (Jose) and turns it into HOSE A.

I got banned for life because I called a fish a little turd because it is hard to catch. I can understand wanting to keep bullies out and make it a safe and welcoming place for everyone to join in but I think they have taken this to a level where they themselves are bullies
