I found fishlore a bit over a year ago looking for help with my betta, and this community has gotten me smarter everyday. The people are very kind, and it's an active community to be proud of. The moderators, and the owner are very diligent and kind, and that's what keeps the site together.

I recommend fishlore to everyone.

This forum is fun to be on, Its a great community, and SO educational. Love it. Its part of my daily life

I constantly come to fish lore for tips on maintenance and to find information useful for keeping my fish and snails happy and my aquarium clean and healthy.

It's an okay place. If you're new and not interested in much beyond small community tanks this is for you. If you're into larger fish and more advanced topics, I'd go elsewhere. Mods seem very thin skinned. Pathetic asking members to give positive reviews.

I was a well-known member on this site for site for several years. I found the mods to be VERY overbearing, and not open to seeing others point of view. After several very well-known members were banned for questionable reasons several of us contacted them on another site as we had become quite close. We got the word out you could find them there if you wanted to, we never encouraged anyone to quit FishLore. In fact we very much wanted to stay on FishLore ourselves, but we were banned for joining another site. We're very happy where we are now, as we found out we were not the only ones FishLore had treated this way. Many better fish sites if you search the internet.

Edit after reply: We were not poaching sir, merely joining another site ALSO, to contiune communication with friends. If you had spoken and listened to ANY of us, (15+) you would have understood that. We were banned with NO warnings for joining another site to speak with people your mods banned.

We enjoyed your site and wished to remain, poaching was not our intent. Anyone who left did so of their own free will or was themselves banned.

I haven’t had any issues at all with fishlore and it’s where I go first for advice! Everyone has been very kind

I have had many many hours of enjoyable, informative, sometimes belly laughing information given me while spending time on fishlore. Ive had my threads answered in timely manners, and have answeted threads to help fellow fish enthusiasts. I've not seen anything unsavory, or off color at all. Moderators are awesome and ever present.

I was a member on this forum for over a year. I did find some of the mods to be overbearing, but I didn't really get into it with them so no worries, right? Never broke any rules, was never warned about anything, and then one day I was abruptly banned. I was never given a reason why or a chance to make it right. Coincidentally(?) a bunch of us who were chatting together on a different fish forum were banned that same evening. Do they have nothing better to do than to police other people's websites? I note that I never once suggested anyone join any other forums. I lost touch with a bunch of friends because I had no way to contact them outside FL. It was not a fun experience.

Poke around the web a bit and you will find many others who have run afoul of the aggressive mods here. They constantly assure members that they never ban anyone without lots of infractions and warnings beforehand--they are lying.

Look elsewhere. There are better forums that don't demean, silence, and shut down their members.

Always has the best advice and the nicest people to help answer any questions I have...much love to all the fellow fish keepers😆

Honestly, this is probably the most amazing community I've become a part of. The members are so friendly, helpful, informative, and welcoming. If you ever have questions about keeping fish, I highly recommend joining Fish Lore. You will learn a lot, probably get some laughs out of it, and it would really help you and your fish have some peace of mind. Mike is also a wonderful person and I'm really thankful for all the work he puts into the website and founding this community. It's one of the things besides the hobby itself that brings me something to look forward to each day.

Very useful and informative site for experienced or beginners. I just got back in the game and I have used this site multiple times and gotten advise on how to deal with problems and help in stocking my tank with the right amount and right fish. Great site!

Mods were just plain out rude and mean. They would publicly insult people that didn’t deserve it. If somebody were to speak out against incorrect information then their posts would be deleted.

I have been on a lot of forums in my time .
Moderation is necessary so' trolls ' don't ruin it for the rest of us fish heads ..
Been on sites where mods did nothing but brag about their own stuff and paid no attention to the forum itself. Fishlore is good honest fish community.
Watch yourself on a couple others who use initials to say their name ..They only want to sell you something...Ask how I know ! I was the # 2 mod on a site when new but left due to lack of anything but sales and bragging...
maybe they changed but ? I just like fish and being reputable [decent not a rip off artist in a hobbyist get up]. If you are bragging you are from somewhere else and that makes you better you already have a bad reputation to me . I know what it is really all about .

Probably one of the best fish forums ive ever been onto. The people are very kind and know what they are talking about. Please do not listen to the haters.

My whole family keeps aquatic life. Some of us dabble in the business. For a short time, we utilized the Fishlore Forums. Members would try to help us with our issues and in turn, we would offer our insight into theirs. But time and time again, threads that were both constructive and productive, would get hijacked by Fishlore Moderators whose only purpose was to display their muscle. They'd pop in from nowhere and throw out their unsolicited opinions and then essentially dare us to dispute them. Inevitably, the OP would get even more confused and the thread would die. A few times we took the discussion to a more private area but it just became easier to utilize different aquatic forum sites. It was the weirdest thing ever.

No idea what Fishlore is hoping to accomplish by abusing their active members. It is what it is I guess. Our family moved our accounts to a different forum with a more positive vibe. I personally would never recommend Fishlore to a fish-keeping friend much less someone new to the hobby. The culture there was too hostile for me.

Instead of posting a link for people to come here and give you faux positive reviews, how about LISTENING to what's being communicated in your authentically written poor reviews, and then make some changes? Just an idea.
